      I mean it's simple enough...the design isn't complicated...anyone paying attention can replicate it. The question is then about skill and patience. I think we'll lose most people there....then the remaining will ask..."how long is this gonna take? oh no...my time is much too valuable for that."

      Indeed, the issue is mainly quality/precision vs. cost vs. time -- As the only joke goes, "pick two, you can have that".

      BTW, if you want to be even more serious about a borderline professional drum sander, you can/should check out Stumpy Nubs' drum sander plans (they're on version 2, 5y old). It is bigger/bulkier, but uses standard belts to make the sanding drum, has the drums fully interchangeable, and has two different feed mechanisms, top and bottom (depending on the kind of sanding you seek to do).

    I had to stop the video at the point where you used both a drill and a router to dimension the timber into a perfectly round dowel.
    I'm a carpenter staircase builder with over 40 years of experience. I'm very used to thinking out of the box, you Sir, are a genius.
    I am so glad that I chose your video over others. I'm 61 and still have a lot to learn.

    Really really Cool. Of course users will modify as they like but One addition: easily swaped out sanding drums - would allow different grades of paper to be used quickly. Saving on double sided tape and paper alignment hassles. Even buffing material would be useful as an option. But as shown its a very useful project.

    I like it, but i think height adjustment needs improvement. At least, after you set it up, can you attach knob on the threaded rods? So, you can be certain to turn both sides same amount. Alternatively, a little chain and sprocket at the bottom of those rods can link them, which makes adjustment more accurate.
    Just thinking out loud, your videos are awesome as always.

    • @3pidemiC123
      @3pidemiC123 4 года назад +3

      Yup! My first thought was a crank at the top of one of the threaded rods and a chain and two sprockets underneath to keep them even at all times. Still a great design though!

      @@BryanHancocks @Parmesh Singh how do you ensure the platform keeps stable contact with the wedge underneath while the angle changes? Steeper angle and the base of the wedge makes contact, shallower and the top of the wedge. This not only affects the height, but introduces the possibility of the platform bending under pressure as the pivot point shifts forward and back. I don't have an answer but those thoughts come to mind...
