Another fun fact, The Boy and the Heron just made history for being the first anime film to be both nominated and won a BAFTA for Best Animated Feature.
Also a fun fact, this is the first time that the PGA has nominated a Studio Ghibli movie ever which is The Boy and the Heron in 2023. I don't know if it says that much though.
Hannah Cast, I’ve come to terms with the fact that The Holdovers is not winning Original Screenplay at the Oscars. Because of this, The Holdovers has no chance of winning Best Picture because you need to have screenplay or director to win Best Picture. When it comes to adapted screenplay, I was pleasantly surprised to see American Fiction win there because honestly, I thought Oppenheimer had it in the bag. Poor Things winning VFX was a buffoonish move because it does not have an Oscar nomination for visual effects. Honestly, I’m thinking visual effects will either be given to The Creator or Godzilla Minus One.
Don't count out Napoleon in VFX. It's gonna win Supporting VFX at VES and it's a prestige Ridley Scott film. I WANT The Creator to win, but the general Academy voters prefer prestige films over VFX achievements.
Come on. Most people thought Oppenheimer was taking it. You can't just take your own opinion on something and assume in a prediction everyone will follow suit. The sound design in Oppenheimer was seen by everyone as a slam-dunk winner in Sound.
If Cillian Murphy wins the sag awards, then it's a wrap for Paul Giamatti, unless he beats murphy to the Sag and then we'll have an unpredictable race just like last year with Brendan Fraser and Austin Butler.
As far as Best Actress goes, I’m not surprised to see Emma Stone win there. However, if Lily Gladstone upsets Emma at SAG, then it’s going to be tough predicting who wins the Oscar. Cillian Murphy winning BAFTA was no surprise either. However, if Paul Giamatti ends up pulling out an upset over at SAG, Cillian might be in trouble because Paul Giamatti pulled out an upset at Critics Choice.
The animated feature race this year could be like the 2020 Oscar race for 2019 films. Pretty much a race between a sequel and an original animated film. Toy Story 4 lost both the Golden Globe and BAFTA but won the Critics Choice, PGA and Oscar. Klaus won a couple of precursors including the Annie and the BAFTA. Spiderverse could win Critics Choice, Annie, PGA and Oscar. The Boy and the Heron could only win Golden Globe and BAFTA.
American Fiction winning Adapted Screenplay gives me confidence that Poor Things won't win it at the Oscars. Oppy not winning it wasn't much of a surprise. The film is seen as a directing and technical achievement, not much of a script achievement.
I’m mad as fuck about changing my animated vote to Spiderverse when I was betting on Boy and the Heron up until a few days ago, same way I changed my best actor vote at critics choice to Cillian If The Creator dominates or does very good at VES, then I’ll bet on it winning at the Oscar’s, but if it doesn’t then at that point I’d go with my gut and go Godzilla, and I’d do that simply because there wouldn’t be a front runner at that point, BAFTA was the easiest thing for Napoleon to win VFX for, and if it couldn’t even get that, then that tells me Napoleon’s dead I would beg to differ on Cinematography, the race isn’t over, if Poor Things wins ASC then it could pull a Mank, but we’ll just have to wait and see Most people have Poor Things winning production design and Barbie winning costumes, I have the opposite, Poor Things had to make their costumes by hand, Barbie’s costumes are based on the toys, and as for Production design, I have the opposite argument, Barbie had to construct Barbieland from toys, but also just the opening scene alone where it shows all of Barbie is begging for the Oscar, but I’m also open to a Poor Things surprise here Since Emma Stone won at BAFTA, I think that gives her an edge to win at SAG, like I’ve been saying, Lily Gladstone missing BAFTA and losing at critics choice is a big deal because Killers of the Flower Moon is a major Oscar player, and right now it just seems there isn’t enough passion for Lily Gladstone probably because they’re thinking she’s more of a supporting role, HOWEVER if she does win SAG, I would maybe consider her winning the Oscar afterall, but it’s a huge maybe Spiderverse has an ACE nomination, Boy and the Heron doesn’t, and also because of Spiderverse sweeping the Annie’s and the fact that is probably gonna win PGA, I’m sticking with that
@@TheHannahcast Maybe. But did any o them got only Globes/BAFTA? Encanto had PGA, Critics, BAFTA and Editors Guild (yeah, i think the editors guild is kinda of important here). Also, i think its fair to say that the BAFTA sometimes goes for non Oscar nominated films, like the Lego Movie.
Technically, Brave won the Oscar with only Golden Globe and BAFTA. However, Brave won the ACE Eddie Nomination for Best Animated Feature. Not to mention, that its biggest competitor, Wreck it Ralph wasn’t even nominated at BAFTA. All Best Animated Feature Oscar winners was at least nominated at BAFTA. Also, The Boy and the Heron wasn’t nominated for ACE Eddie Award for Best Animated Feature but Spiderverse was. What wins the ACE Eddie Awards for Best Animated Feature, usually wins the Oscar.
The Zone of Interest was released after the nominations, so that's why it performed better at the ceremony than it did with nominations.

8:50 last famous words 😂
I called it. The Boy and the Heron will win the BAFTA.
Me too.

I dont understand why he's shocked that Zone of Interest won Best Sound. It was one of the favorites. Maybe he didnt watch the movie.

I agree
If sag want to make sespense
Give it to paul and lilly gladston and emelly blant

The Godzilla Minus One win in visual effects with no precursor award will be glorious
CILLIAN MURPHY & OPPENHEIMER winners was the best part of the night for me. Keep it coming at SAG & OSCARS 👏
Davine joy won against the odds and I’m so happy for her OSCARS HERE WE COME
the boy and the heron won
Oh boy, it's like he watched Oscar Expert videos, took notes and turned the camera on. Next...

Apparently every time a film won the Globe AND BAFTA for Animated Feature, it 100% goes on to win the Oscar.
Not true, Toy Story 4 and Big Hero 6 did it without

I dont know cillian murphy could winning best lead actor better than by paul giamatti, murphy was irish accent it was easily win bafta
Still don’t think poor things is getting costume and production design
Yeah, I think Barbie might still take them at the Oscars
I think Barbie wins Best Costume Design and Poor Things wins Best Production Design.

Barbie could get Elvis at the Oscars, except for song, would be funny
You could say it's A Star is Born
Ohh... oppenheimer new enemy in best sound by zone of interest
Spiderverse was robbed! At least it swept the Annie Awards. I hope it still wins the Oscar.
I'm not necessarily upset over The Boy and the Heron winning, it's still a great film.
Spiderverse is very overrated.
You’re just racist ! The boy and the heron is amazing and deserve the win, watch because like Michelle Yeoh, it’ll win the Oscar
Spiderverse will win the PGA and the editors guild.
I can't see The Boy and The Heron winning at the Oscara with only Globes and BAFTA.
Apparently every film that won the Globe/BAFTA combo also won the Oscar.

Actually, Encanto won the Golden Globe, PGA and BAFTA. The Mitchells vs. the Machines won the Critics Choice and the Annie.
I wish Barbie won Costume Design at BAFTA.
