The Br'er Rabbit franchise is one of my favorite Disney stuff. I even believe the song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" goes well with Disney.

It’s amazing that these versions of these characters are in CG due to Song of the South wanting to be forgotten by Disney.

This is so stupid that Disney is going to change the ride! What’s next? Changing the Kinect game version of Splash Mountain to Princess and the Frog too?

There's a petition to save Splash Mountain made by Eric Thibeault. Sign it, then spread the word. You never know if it'll work or not

These classic disney characters deserved better honestly I like Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear wish they could bring them back and put them in better roles that have nothing to do with the past movie song of the south but I’m glad I was able to ride splash mountain back in 2008 way before it closed this year it was the best summer ride at Disney world it will forever live in my childhood gone but never forgotten

Disney should make a new movie of song of the south 2

You probably have know idea what Song of the South is ACTUALLY like.
Apparently it's WILDLY racist. More racist than South Park, which says *way* too many things. There's simply no way in hell Disney would make a sequel to such a film nowadays
The characters in Splash Mountain probably have completely different personalities and interactions than whatever the fuck happened in the film the attraction is based on. The voice actors are likely different too.
And you've likely heard that they're changing Splash Mountain to be based on The Princess and the Frog because of that. Not sure if they'll update the video game, though.

@@pirate_cove_man I watched the movie, it's actually not racist at all.

@@speckles784 I find it hard to believe that you watched the movie, because the only way I can think of watching it being possible nowadays is through piracy
Also, I find it hard to believe that it's not racist, because whenever I search up "Song of the South" on Google, all I can find is stuff about how it was racist, offensive, controversial, and had "outdated cultural depictions".

And it's just my opinion, i'm black and was't offended by the movie in any way and i think it was good.
What I am offened by is that talented people won awards for this movie, and Disney tries to act like it never existed.

Splash Mountain is based directly on the animated segments of the film with the character's personalities intact (Brer Rabbit the trickster, Brer Fox, the fast talking villain, etc.) The story links multiple tales from the movie together using the central motif of Brer Rabbit leaving his home and "seeking adventure". As the only surviving member of voice actors for the animated SOTS trio, Nick Steward returned to reprise his role in Brer Bear (Disneyland version only).
A few differences between the stories in the film and SM are the multitude of animal "extras", the Laughin' Place being an actual physical place, and the Tar Baby (which had become notorious for becoming widely known as a slur during the 50's and 60's) with honey. Also the finale is pretty much 95% original to the ride with there being no steamboats, bands, or Brer Alligator in SOTS with its only resemblance to SOTS is using Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.
SOTS largest problem is the lie action segments which portray the Reconstruction era South in a Disneyfied, nostalgic way. Considering how much Disney was tied with this one to please the Southern audience (especially with how the international market was still recovering), it's all the much more surprising that moments such as Uncle Remus threatening to quit his job at the plantation and leave or in the finale Uncle Remus holding hands with the white children and Toby (who's black) a sthey walk into the sunset.
Also while Archive.org is the easiest ay to watch it, the film was aired officially on International television until quite recently and getting international home video releases most notably Japan getting a Japanese subtitled English laserdisc release.
