Great video. My dad's 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager had this problem. Though it had no flashing lights, the AC was blowing out hot. He thought he needed a new slider switch. I noticed the compressor wasn't turning on yet it had a full charge of freon. So I went to Google and found this video. Thanks to this video, his AC is blowing out ice cubes today when it's 80° and he couldn't be happier. He has the single switch instead of the dual climate control but everything in the video worked the same. Excellent how-to. Thank you!

If the ac and recirculation buttons persist in blinking after calibration then check and recharge the refrigerant. Easy to do with ~$30 cans with integrated pressure gauge and hose sold at WMart or auto stores. Worked for me today after multiple prior unsuccessful attempts to calibrate. AC works well again as a bonus!

I will do as you said...when it gets warmer. I still got the blinking two and under the hood, the compressor won't cycle or remain on when AC is off/on. No auto-store cans are gonna do the job...already tried. I gotta get the vac pump & manifold, do it right. I'll also replace both Schrader valves while I'm at it with new ones. Thanks, Stephen!
What's odd is when I first got my minivan running again, the AC system was empty but there were no blinking LEDs.

The blend door sequence @ 4:23 fixed the no heat on drivers side--passenger side only blows heat- problem on my 97 Town and Country. Now heat works on both sides as it should 👍 The battery was recently replaced so that may have offset something. Happy it was a calibration issue. Many thanks to you for creating this video. Well done!

Great video, I have had this problem as well and didn't know how to correct it, but I did notice that after driving for a while the lights would stop blinking. I have also had the issue with the air or heat strength. Thanks for posting this, it's been a great help.

Thank you so much for this quick and informative video. Fixed the blinking lights on 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. Note for others. The problem started after I tried to start the van when the battery was very low. The low battery voltage must have triggered an error in the computer or something. This fixed it quickly.

I did this procedure on my dads van after replacing the defective blend door actuator, but it wouldn't stop showing fault codes. So, then i decided to do a hard reset on the bcm/ ecm (disconnect the battery for ten seconds then reconnect) and then I ran the procedure again, this time it successfully calibrated. Thanks for posting this video, though. It was a great help!

Russ Newton Sometimes you can get away with pulling the ICM /IOD ( I cant remember which one its called and I may be mistaking this term for the 2001-2007 4th Gen vans. and you will Get the same result. What that does is it Resets the BCM. and Not the ECM. I dont like pulling he BAttery terminals unless I really have to, especially if the Inspection on the vehicle is very close to being up. Then you have to spend time drive cylcing the car to set all the Monitors. Thanks for the reply on my Video, I Try to help people the best way that I can. Can't thank you enough for doing this video. I had a evaporator & heater door actuator strip some gears because the system was out of sync.. I took the actuator apart and turned the stripped gears 180 because of the limited travel that they have and it worked. I then put the system thru the calibration and BINGO all is well.

I 'liked' this several weeks ago, not thinking that I would need it. However, after adding freon on a '98 T&C (That someone else had borrowed for a year.), I could feel cool air, but very little air flow. there were NO blinking lights, but I decided to try this procedure anyway. As it cycled through the steps, I got some great air flow! Now it seems to cool well!

I had this problem for two years and never could get the blend door test to finish. I tested my AC high and low with manifold gauges, condenser fans working good and the compressor clutch fine as well. Yesterday I turned the the heat all the way up and ran it until the evaporator got pretty warm. Then shut the car off turned the temperature selector to cold and in 30 seconds got the 20 degree drop on the evap core the blend doors moved all the way to cold and now I'm running 38 degrees and thos dang lights are off. Hope this helps someone fix their problem.

You are awesome,I never knew about this before, I was about to take apart the dash to look for a stuck blend door, because I was not getting heat and then I saw this video and I recalibrated and I now have heat, amazing thanks, why did the heat go off is the mystery,, but it now works,, maybe it had something to do with the blower which only works on high,, thanks for saving me a lot of trouble 👏👏

Ok, so I tried this, about 7 times. What I'm getting is, when I push the A/C and the wiper wash buttons for the start of it, all the lights light up, but, the A/C and the recirc are the only two lights that keep blinking back and forth intermittently. None of the other lights light up after the initial start process. They go out and stay out throughout the entire cycle. After about two minutes or so of blinking, the A/C and recirc go back to blinking at the same time as each other. It won't go through the normal cycle like yours shows. The other calibration works. I would LOVE to find the problem and fix this.

905speedgta thanks for getting back to me, I replaced the a/c control panel and the recirc lights start blinking and no ac blowing plus now my fuel gauge, temp gauge, and other gauges don't work unless I unplug the new (used) panel. Also tried your steps and lights on the recirc just blink and don't function like your calibration video. one more thing the old controls didn't blink at all does that mean they were bad? get back at me plz.

The circuit board checks good too, also each light bulb was tested and are good. Oh, all the rest of the dash lights work, not the gauge cluster.

    • @905speedgta

PaullyBB Yeah thats a very common problem for that year van. and it wasnt corrected till the early 2000 vans. for ive seen these on 1996 to 1999 vans. Never on a 2000. whats happening is when these clusters were made the solder joints were poorly put together. Bad solder Batch, bad craftsmenship, i dont know for sure. But what happens is these joints crack over time. and render your cluster half or totally useless. if you take the cluster out, its not hard, and you pull the backing plate off the cluster I am willing to bet you can see broke joints with your own eyes. you can get creative and resolder the joints, or you can go to the junkyard or on ebay and check out the cost of a used one. I would try to get one from a 2000 van. just to let you know the chrysler town and country vans of that time came with cool white faced guages. and they look nice incase you want something different.

Is there any way to calibrate the blend door on a 1994 Town And Country? I get better heat while driving round a roundabout (ie turning hard left) Or might the actuator be broken? I get good heat from the rear system as it is pure mechanical, but very bad from the front system.

Bratfalken never runs hot or gurgles when you shut the car off, like theres a boiling pot of water under the hood?. Im leaning towards what you said about a bad actuator. ill look into it again get back to you.

    • @Bratfalken
      @Bratfalken 9 лет назад

It did gurgle and ran hot for a while. I'm leaning against a blown head gasket. It blew the hose between the thermostathouse and the waterpump last year. And the hose between the radiator and the thermostat housing this year. But as no water ends up in the oil I have pushed on as this car was mainly used just to go to and from work. Now at the annual security checkup it failed on several points and I have put it away until I decide weather to fix it or get rid of it. If it just was the things they found at the checkup I'd might fix it, but a blown headgasket could spell a lot of trouble if that is just the sympton of other problems.

Well, he is a great mechanic. He is just old school, and when it comes to things like resetting computers by button presses, not so much. He has no internet at all. Besides, I am not complaining. If he WERE trained to do it, he would do it and charge me for it like all other mechs out there. I would rather look it up, do it myself and save a few bucks.

hi my 1998 Chrysler Town and Country lxi minivan does the light flashing on the ac part and after awhile of driving for like 10-20 minutes and with it turned on high it finally stops flashing and in able to turn them on and off but when I shut my van off and then turn it back on then it starts all over again now my question for you is after you do that hvac you did above in the video for the ac and it's donewhen you shut the van off and turn back on do they flash again ?

905speedgta it's funny how we miss are cars after there gone, I had a 2008 grand caravan sxt with stow n go it was a newer design tho it had a 4.0 liter v6. I put that van to the floor and it almost put me in the back seat. Now I just a 2014 with a 3.6 and may have more horse power it definitely slower then 08 grand caravan. The 08 was lease so I traded it in at 32k miles:(

aohm7886 It doesnt feel like " MY OWN ". My red 1998 Caravan I did all that work to.. It was Grey interior i chaged that to Tan, I put all the stuff in it, it was my own creation...Im not too crazy about my 1999 to be totally honest. Its a non Infinity sound system, crapy front seats I cant even recline the drives seat for cuddle sessions lol.. and i havent even cleaned it since I bought it in april 2014. really, it just sits, and I only drive it when i need it.. It needs a whole front end I think, I know that the end links are GONE.. back shocks are shot..it has quad seating which i like, but it needs to be cleaned. and it needs to be worked on..maybe I should do that while I have the chance before It gets cold.. but then again....It just sits till i absolutly need it.. and I really dont care for it too much.. I have a 2007 sentra and a 2008 altima I just love

905speedgta, do you have a link for any error codes that are returned from the 2nd test you did?
The rear wiper button & the intermittent button directly below display 2 codes . Top button flashes once, intermittent button flashes 3 times . then Top once, Intermittent 5 flashes

I was having trouble with my 1997 Plymouth Voyager. My A/C works fine, but my heater won't get hot. First I checked my radiator fluid, it was fine. I ran my heater a while (until the car came up to normal running temp), then felt both hoses coming from and going to the heater core. They were both hot. I don't think it's my thermostat because the car is not overheating in any way. I then followed your instructions for recalibration of my HVAC system. Pressing the two lower buttons, the calibration began and went though it's check, but the two top buttons would not stop. The calibration will not complete. I turned the engine off and waited a while, then tried to start it up again, but the buttons continue to blink. I then tried to calibrate the actuator doors, even though they are working fine (I can adjust from full face to half and half to feet only to windshield with no problem). I then decided to just let it run hoping it would eventually finish and get to the top button only letting me know calibration is complete. After 15 minutes of waiting for it to complete, the two buttons on the top left side are still blinking. The middle button blinks 4 times, then stops, and the top button blinks once. Then the middle button blinks 4 times, then stops, and the top button blinks once again, repeating this pattern. I assume that means something isn't working correctly, but I don't know what it could be. Would you have any advice for me?

My 2000 Grand Voyager blows cold air thru out the whole van but when I need heat, it only blows on the passenger side and in the back of the van. Drivers side stays cold all the time. Can you give me any idea what to do?

    • @DavidParker-cf2km
      @DavidParker-cf2km 7 лет назад

That's what happened to me too. I had to replace the heater core (that is difficult, you have to dismantle everything to get at it and even then you have about 1/8" clearance between the core and the brake pedal bracket when sliding the core into the slot and trying to keep the foam rubber seal strip on!) and everything worked differently when I put it all together again.
Previously the passenger side got no heat, now the left side gets no heat which is bad when you need defrost.
I have the Dodge Shop Service Manual and it has the same procedure as 905 showed except that 905 started with the cool down test - pressing the AC/wash buttons - instead of the calibration/diagnostics test - pressing the wipe/wash buttons. I would think the calibration should come first, because if the modes are not correct it will affect airflow.
Bottom line, I must have some defective components, namely the air door actuator for the left side or the body control computer or the temperature selector slide or ? I don't know how to test these components on the bench. The temperature selector is the easiest thing to reach, but how is it tested off the vehicle?.

You might have a bad blend door motor. this is pretty common on the 2001 to 2004 caravans. But even though it is heard of on the 1996 to 2000 model years its not as common. Is possible your HVAC controls are broken. Bring the car to a quiet spot. with just the key in the on position and the engine not running move the hot/cold switches. listen for the blend door motor you will be able to hear it. if you dont, chances are its not getting power, signal or a bad motor. let me kno what you find

do you know how to calibrate fuel gauges misreading issues. mine sometimes when its about a quarter tank gauge will bounce down till fuel light comes on than next morning it will read empty once i drive around a little turn car off than restart light goes out and gauge reads quarter again. hard to get actual mileage.

    • @905speedgta

Oliver G Oliver, That Sounds like a Bad Fuel Tank Sender Unit. These cars However are known for their Instrument Cluster Issues. TO where the Gauges go Haywire and bounce around or not work at all.
Im willing to Bet you have a Bad Fuel Tank Sender Judging by what youve mentioned. Replacing it Involves Sliding down the gas tank. I would Bring it to the shop for Diagnosis. Unless you have a scan tool which will read live data and you are handy. Let us all know how it works out. I have quite a few Caravan Videos on my Channel, Check them out and Like and subscribe if you wish. Good luck
