something to float in ! people go nuts building canoes ! do you want to go canoeing ,or do you want a work of art that you don't want to ever put a scratch on ! good vid !
When I do stitch and glue I empty the contents of a caulk tube then refill it with the glue. Applies more evenly and gets into the crevices. After I get the glue on I use a plastic spreader to finish up. Saves time on sanding and makes for a stronger and better appearance. Nice canoe by the way. Hope you get many years of enjoyment from it.
Thanks for this video, nice to have someone documentation for putting together Little Guide, I’ve been wanting to do one for a while. Will be using this as a reference for sure :)
I understand the lower curvature of the lower side panel (follows the shape of the bottom). But how "did you get" the upper curvature. And is the lower curvature of the upper side panel just follow the upper curves of the lower panels ? My guess is no.., since the two panels are bent very differently.
first time build here, got the stitching in place, what glue do i use to seal the joints, or is this done with an epoxy resin, if resin, will any type be okay ?? thanks
have my design in mine.. I want to have the lightest. yet strongest possible. what size of marine ply would you suggest.. and is it worth fiberglassing the whole lot using finer ply. mine will be 16 ft.
@@davidegessa thats not what I asked. What was the thickness of the ply.? How much weight did the fiberglass added.. was it much better with the fiberglass. How heavy was the final product

@@davidegessa That can't be glass fiber because you are cutting it with a knife! Are you using the "so called" fiberglass that is intended use is for drywalls and such?
@@Thestripper1 it's glass fiber, since it's very thin you can cut it with a knife. The one I used is very similar to this: www.svb24.com/en/seatec-glass-fabric-200-g.html

@@davidegessa Yeah i know thanks for the answer tho! I love your tke on this project and i realy want to make one to use on a river i live next to! How long did it take you to build it btw? Also your take on the Little guide doesnt use the wooden side bars nor the central spacests, does the boat work well even without htem?

I built my first stitch and glue boat about 3 years ago. The process is addicting. I now have 2 kayaks and the original boat.

Which glue is the best? Looks like epoxy and fiber glass...
@@nelhanekom yep, epoxy is the best for this type of work, I used it

Abraham Lincoln said "If I were to spend 10 hours building a canoe, I'd spend the first 9 hours building a workbench"
That is really well made! and now I can't stop thinking of making one myself 😃
Dope. Put some horses and some plywood that way you have a table brutha. Save you the trouble of kneeling and crouching next time

Hallo.. Aku sangat suka video ini.. Salam kenal dan semoga sukses.
sweet design and build
first time build here, got the stitching in place, what glue do i use to seal the joints, or is this done with an epoxy resin, if resin, will any type be okay ?? thanks
It is epoxy resin mixed with microbaloons; I think you can use other types of resin, but it's better to use epoxy to increase curing time
excellent thank you

hi.. just wanted to know how much did your canoe end out weighing. and what size of ply you used. also did the fiberglass added a lot of weight
Idk the weight; ply size is a single sheet of ply (about 2.5mx1.8m)
@@davidegessa thats not what I asked. What was the thickness of the ply.? How much weight did the fiberglass added.. was it much better with the fiberglass. How heavy was the final product
So… are the instructions somewhere else?
