  • Welcome to our vibrant family adventure in CRAZY Saigon, also known as Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - a city where tradition and innovation go hand in hand! 🎥💥🇻🇳
Join us in this video as we explore the bustling cityscapes of Saigon with our little travel buddies ( the two gremlins AKA children haha). It's our family's first impression of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), and we're thrilled to share our journey with you!
Taking the kids to Saigon has opened up a world of exciting, enriching experiences. Together, we'll navigate the dynamic street markets, savour the city's delicious street food, and feel the genuine warmth of the locals, showing that Vietnam is not just for the lone backpacker but also for the adventurous family.
Rather than focusing on the most popular tourist spots, we've chosen to experience Saigon through the eyes of its residents. We'll dive into the everyday life of the city, visiting bustling shopping centres, taking in the sights and sounds of the local markets, and even learning a Vietnamese phrase or two!
You won't want to miss our exploration of the city's street food scene - it's a culinary adventure that's captivated our taste buds and hearts. From Pho stalls tucked away in a bustling market to the mouth-watering Banh Mi served in quaint street-side eateries, Saigon has introduced us to flavors we've never dreamed of!
But this isn't just about food and shopping - it's about stepping out of our comfort zone and embracing the vibrancy and vitality of Saigon. We believe that the best way to learn about a place is to walk its streets, talk to its people, and taste its food. So come along as we show our kids - and you - the world beyond the guidebooks.
Don't forget to hit that 'like' button if you enjoy our family adventures and subscribe for more. We love hearing from our viewers, so feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts or your own experiences of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City!

Rau Muong is a water spinach dish you might enjoy, but overall, a lot of restaurants can accommodate if you ask for "chay" versions. Max McFarlin is a popular RUclipsr and he just posted an "All You Can Eat VEGETARIAN Buffet" place in Saigon for 30k. Happy Travels!

We have a huge number of vegetarians in Vietnam so there should be many options for your family. There are restaurants that only serve vegetarian food, and most of the restaurant have vegetarian options if you ask. The vegetarian food is call "Chay" in Vietnam. Your family is so cute and your kids are adorable.

A lot of Westerners aren't familiar with Vietnamese food and therefore have problems finding them, much less how to eat the meals properly. Please do a food tour. I always recommend food tours for those unfamiliar as all the people that go on them love them and learn more about the food. If you're in a big city like HCMC, do several food tours with different companies to get an idea of what they've got to offer. Just ask the guides to cater to the types of food you prefer.

If you like nature, you have to head north. Central Vietnam has the beaches and as you head further north, you'll get the more majestic landscape. If you head north, check out videos from these youtubers: "Sammy and Tommy" (their videos were so good, even Sonny from the Best Ever Food Review Show" left them a compliment), Jaychel (they put everything in one great video), "Adventures of A+K", "Shot in the Dark Travel", "TheDailyPackers", etc. "Flora and Note" and "2Passports 1Dream" did videos in different parts of Vietnam last year. I think your family would love Hoi An and Da Nang if you prefer the beach. Both those cities have great food ("Steph and Pete" did a great food tour in Hoi An). Don't forget to visit Da Lat as there's a ton of stuff to do there. Most western vloggers seem to love Hanoi vs HCMC due to it's more traditional culture vs the fast-paced stuff in HCMC.

Actually the rents in district 1 is expensive that's why it drives up all prices ...if you go to giant Japanese Aeon shoppings malls in Binh Tan and Tan Phu districts and other large shopping malls in other districts you can get cheap food made fresh in the groceries, they even slash off price 50% in the end of the day. Look for "Chay" restaurants they're vegetarian places, but you can request chay at any restaurants since they cater to Buddhist customers too .

    Hi,
Since you’re Aussie, you should visit Cabramatta in Sydney. There, you can try all kinds of Vietnamese dishes. It’s just that food generally is pretty pricey in Australia. I’ve been there many times so I’m well aware of that. I’m not a vegan so I can’t help you man. However, for the woman and the kids, here’s the list.
1 Phở, 2 bún bò Huế, 3 bún riêu ốc, 4 bún thang, 5 bún chả giò thịt nướng, 6 bún mắm, 7 bún chả, 8 mì quảng, 9 cơm tấm bì chả sườn nướng, 10 bánh cuốn.
Those are the main courses. Item 6 might be too strong for you because the broth is cooked from the fermented fish. However, it’s really tasty if you can handle the …smell and its strong flavor.
If you have a chance to visit Hà Nội, try 2 specialty.
1 Chả rươi, basically it’s sea worm fried cake, if it’s in the season. Ask the locals for more info.
2 Chả cá lã vọng. Again, ask the locals to find the right place.
Also try item 1 and 7 in Hà Nội too because Hà Nội was the birthplace of them. Besides, two U.S. presidents had phở and bún chả in Hà Nội so you should too.
For sweets, try different types of chè, sweet soup.
Eat different kinds of cakes as well especially chuối bọc nếp nướng (grilled ice cream banana wrapped with sticky rice and coconut milk).
    I think that’s long enough.
Have a great trip. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you for sharing your experience in Vietnam with us.

    • @ando9760
      @ando9760 Год назад +1

For the fruit, try these, if they are in season. Ask the locals to find out.
Durian and jack fruit if you’re ok with the …smell 🤷‍♂️. Soursop (mãng cầu chua, especially smoothie), cherimoya, wax apple, mango, coconut juice, sugar cane juice, mangosteen, longan, lychee, rambutan, guava ice cream banana … basically, ask the locals for any type of fruits that is regionally grown and available and …cheap because imported fruits are very expensive due to imported duty. Enjoy my friends.

If you have a little bit of knowledge about clothes and their materials, you can get the best for the reasonable prices. However, Viet Nam today is the main supplied source of clothes for Europe. There are another things, Vietnam is the number 1 for vegetarian meals, please ask the local people for their locations. Vung Tau is good for Australians . Because 55 years ago, the Australian army bases were set up there.

@@RikkijadeIf you have a little bit of time, do not to go Ben Thanh market, because of their ridiculous prices . Please, go to the local traditional market for example, The China Town in Cho Lon , only 10 minutes drive from the Ben Thanh market by scooter. Viet Nam is heaven for vegetarian people. Because they have a lot of choices for foods and vegetables. Try to go to the tropical food plantation in the south along the Mekong River. You only pay for their entry fees, you can have all day stay there eating the tropical foods.

There are always vegetarian versions of meat dishes. Bun Cha Gio chay is one. You need to add the word "chay" when you search for the food you want. "Chay" is vegetarian. For example, if you want Com tam (broken), you can google Com Tam Chay. it should give you couple places to eat

22:40 She said I can NOT say anything *NEGATIVE* about HCM city do you know that it is a "Kom,-mu,-nist" city, do you want me to start the list of negativity
    1. Drainage infrastructure are horrible
    2. If you got sick and don't have have money right up front, you can definitely die at the front door of the hospital
    3. There's no food PROGRAM or anything to help the hungry children
    4. School tuition starts from Kingter garden (Remember under the DEMOCRACY of South vietnam, school tuition didn't exist over 60 year ago)
    5. AVERAGE worker in Vietnam earns about 10$ a day, that is NOT enough to buy a roasted duck which cost about ~12$/duck
    6. I can make a 50 more item if you like, this is the MOST basic stuff right. I'm not even comparing with any other nations.

    • @Rikkijade
      @Rikkijade  Год назад +3

Your definitely not wrong , I can only imagine the parts of the society that need to be worked on. Like any country, there are always things that need to be changed. I’m looking at it from a tourist perspective though 💕 but I agree with you, we have seen some of the poverty and lack of support for certain people. We learnt that the schooling system can cost an entire adults wage if not both, hence why multiple incomes are needed in households. So your right, however, there are so many beautiful things about Saigon and the country that we have seen as well 💕
