This is one of the best documentary efforts I've ever seen from a gaming channel. Extremely well done, I sincerely look forward to what else you might have planned!
Wow. Thank you so much. I have many ideas for future videos both short and long. I plan on putting out some shorter form content in between this video and the next big project in this series, as videos like this take a long time to make.
So it was American Racism that changed the name and story, I think there's a debt to Laura Cruz and her game ... Let's make it a reality game devs from the Latino community...
Wasn't a fan of that actually. Was kind of pissed to wait for the way-too-long sequence to find "Prince of Persia" waiting for me. It could have been much quicker.
I was extremely fortunate to be at that 20th anniversary put together by ash at Play Expo Manchester. My team was the only ones allowed in the press room after the stage Q&A was finished. I remember running out and trying to find a copy of the game that wasn't cracked or scuffed so I could get the teams signatures and a picture of them holding the game up. What an absolute privilege it was to meet the team and listen to the stories they shared around the table. They hadn't all met together since before the game was released, as some had left already so it was a 20yr catch-up for all of them. Was upset to hear Neal died during the covid lockdown, him and heather were the two chatterers of the room. I've still got all the signatures scanned from the PS1 cover they all signed - wow, I wish I'd never sold that game now. It's over in Switzerland last I heard and I believe is the only one.
Incredibly well done. As someone who doesn’t know much of anything in regards to the history of these classics, the information given and flow of the video was perfect to bring me up to speed. At no point did I feel like I was sitting through any extra fluff being added and this was an I mpressively clear and concise breakdown and explanation of the challenges the development team had faced both technically and from a corporate standpoint. What I wasn’t expecting was how captivated I was with the story of Toby Gard’s struggle to get this off the ground as well as seeing the emotions he faces when he felt he was losing his ‘baby’ to Eidos, which made it all the more satisfying when he was able to gain back that control to bring Lara back to life how he saw fit. Beautifully done.
The music from this game is my favourite of all time. It instantly brings me to the 17 years old me, when there was no tinder and all that crap and dating was pure and magical, when summers with friends were amazing, when there was no internet and I got stuck in one level for a month till I found the solution (the cistern)... So many nights playing this magical game, so many memories. Aaah this music, the best of the whole series in my opinion. This game is the best to me.
The music really lifts the game up and contributes wonderfully to its atmosphere. I've spent many nights wandering this games various corridors and dark corners. Thanks for the comment.
That was bloody PHENOMENAL! Top-notch work on everything: the script, the production, all of it. Brought me right back to 1996, playing the demo on my laptop, and realizing I had found something truly special. "Tomb Raider" is one of the most important games of all time to me, and you've done it, and Lara herself, great justice in this documentary. Thanks ever so much!
I replayed Tomb Raider 2 recently for the first time after 20+ years and I was amazed how fluid Lara's animations are. Toby clearly put a lot of work into them and it shows 😊
Seriously tears in my eyes. Thank you for making this. It may sound strange, but my memories with the early Tomb Raider games are some of my best memories in life: time spent having a virtual experience of what I'd truly rather be doing, but may never have the chance. Nathan McCree seals the deal, of course.
Excuse me? This is your second video on this channel, and it manages to put all other TR documentaries to shame? This is required watching for any fan of the franchise, because even hardcore aficionados can learn something new here. (Not to mention the script and the editing. This is on a level of professionalism many seasoned content creators would like to be.) Very well done, Michael!
This is the best TR1 video I've ever seen in my entire life, and i'm an old fan, since the beginning in the 90s, your work is amazing, you tell all the facts in a very clever way, thank you, i'm pretty sure collecting the information, making the scrip and etc was a very hard job.
Thanks for the comment. Despite the research and writing being the earliest parts of making this project, neither were quite finished until the entire video was almost done. It seemed as though every time I had hit a wall and learned everything I possibly could about the development of Tomb Raider, more things would keep popping up. I would then have to re-work the script to accommodate this new information.
The core tomb raider games were the best, you actually felt alone and truly exploring with the atmosphere that the game created, the eidos and crystal dynamic games lost that feeling they just became like any other game, dull and boring Same thing with the first three resident evils
Man, I totally agree. Also I love the first three Resident Evil games so much. All the other installments didn't make any sense storywise. Also I'm totally sure that there are way more shitty products out there which are called RESIDENT EVIL than good ones. I also stick to the first three
They are very different directions, but I like most of them. The lost, lonely and somewhat more horror-like feeling of Core's original trilogy, then the more gameplay friendly legend series, and to be honest I also liked the reboot trilogy, though the latter is definitely a product of our time, with too easy puzzles, them literally telling you what buttons to push to jump even in the final level coz we have game journo's that hate games and rather are on twitter all day, debating wether women are real... or Bigfoot or something, Idk, I don't keep track of the increasingly mentally insane and sick woke people. On top of that they had to deliberately uglify Lara by giving her a fat puffed face.... coz it's modern woke marxists times and everybody has to be miserable, so men can't have nice things. And I'm sure that the next one is gonna be graphically stunning on Unreal Engine 5, but I'm not interested in it coz Lara is gonna be a lesbian now... coz the mentally ill woke people need to lecture you that the whole world is gay, despite that not being the case.
I grew up with PS1 but like Resident Evil 4-5-6 and Revelations the most. They have better combat. That's one thing old Tomb Raider games missed, melee and contextual attacks in gameplay (only in cutscenes). But I didn't like platforming in Legend or 2013 reboot. Original TR games are still great.
@KasumiR if anything, Tomb Raider needed less combat. The first game is still the best because it focused on.... raiding tombs. Part 2 turned the franchise into a shooter that it didn't need to be.
This vid has been om my recommendations list for a while now, and I skipped it time after time. Thinking it would be the same overchewed stuff, that most of these kind of history documentaries are. But oh my.... was I wrong. VERY nice work. Let me take my hat off and bow for you as this documentary was the most informative, non biased and entertaining documentary that I have seen in a while. Also very nice work on video editing and intonation during the narration. I'm sure a lot of work has been put into this one.
The best documentary I’ve ever watched on RUclips. As a Tomb Raider fan, it was a really pleasure to watch! Can’t wait for the next part! Congratulations!
52:24 Respect.... From Wiki: ''His work on the game included building and animating most of the game's characters (including Lara), animating the in-game cutscenes, storyboarding the FMVs, and managing the level designers.[4] Core gave Gard creative control over the game, although it was clear they wanted to market Lara's sex appeal, even asking Gard to implement a nude code into the game, which he refused to do.[5] His vision for Lara was "a female character who was a heroine, you know, cool, collected, in control, that sort of thing" and that "it was never the intention to create some kind of 'Page 3' girl to star in Tomb Raider". Hence my respect for Toby Gard.... so RARE to have a man actually want a female heroine to be just that, not a pinup. Too bad he left..... I hope he got all the money he deserved. He had made her talk and look so cool ! True hero.
Before RUclips, we were on the mercy that some fart in the TV studios would create a documentary just to air it at 2:00 in the morning. Now, we have people like you who do that and we can access it on our leisure. I thank you so much! 20 minutes in the documentary and I love it. I recently tried to watch our German public TV game documentaries and they always have 40-year old people talking about C64. The mid90s and later were wound up in 3 minutes...
Wonderful. The CORE team, including contributors like Shelley Blond as Lara, deserve all the credit for their innovative skills that made Tomb Raider such an iconic game. Furthermore, the tools they built for this game, like the level editor based on a 3d grid system, inspired other game studios to advance 3d gaming much further using the technology of the day. It really is something very special.
@@keylanoslokj1806how are they ruining the game they just made what 6 TR games already. Legends, Anniversary and Underworld. And the Reboot trilogy like TR, Rise, and Shadow. 6 TR games after all that, not too shabby.
A really good documentary, even though I am a long time fan of the series so knew quite a lot about the development this was masterfully edited together and really helped to tie together disparate accounts from multiple sources. I hope the RUclips gods smile upon you and I look forward to seeing part 2 :)
Thank you. I learned so much about the original Tomb Raider making this video. There are even some cool tid bits I had to remove to make things fit and flow together better. It was a lot of work and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
It's been said a few times here already, but ... this was an incredible documentary clearly made with love about a game also clearly made with love. Honestly, it's a damn shame that Sony didn't secure Tomb Raider on the PlayStation Classic. It was THE GAME to own back in the 90s.
Honestly, the fact that there wasn't a single Tomb Raider game on the PlayStation classic was a huge disappointment. Especially since the series was one of the highest selling on the console.
An exceptionally well made video and documentary! So many other videos that advertise themselves as the making of Tomb Raider, just talk about the plot and the core mechanics of how the game works and skimmed over it's inspiration, the team and the behind the scenes politics. You really went above and beyond to explain why and how Tomb Raider became such a big deal in the 90s and how the franchise went full circle. I'm playing through the original at the moment for my own RUclips content and was blown away how good, thorough and detailed this video was! Very well done Michael. 👍
I played the 1st demo when it first released for pcs back in 96 or 97 I think. It was like nothing I’ve played before, even a bigger shock than doom, a love at first sight. Lara’s movements were so natural and iconic (and still are).
tomb raider was legitimately one of the most influential games of the 20th century, I dont know anyone else who grew up in the 90s with a playstation who didnt play it
The production value of your video is absolutely through the roof. The editing, sound mixing, voice post production (no pops, audio level dips), and the information... amazing work! The algorithm brought me here! ... sometimes it works. :)
I'm speechless with all the effort and care you dedicated to this documentary. Congratulations, even as a hardcore fan, I still learned a lot of new things with this. Loved every bit of it.
TR1 was the sole reason I bought the PSX back in 96. This documentary you've put together was exceptional, I rarely like anything on YT let alone leave a comment. A very well done to you & a huge thank you for taking the time to present this.
Every 10 minutes I moved my mouse to check how much time is left in the video. I couldn't believe that someone put so much information and effort into his second video on youtube. I really appreciate that you made this video for free on youtube. Really, well done.
Thanks so much for the amazing comment. Gave me a huge smile to know you were engaged the whole way through. I really wanted this video as well as the rest of the content I make for this channel to be high-effort. So I'll be making sure to put the time in where it counts.
Really great doco man!!! May I suggest doing another video game documentary? There are very few videos showing how games were made, especially the older ones and I think for anyone who wants to be a game dev, we really crave to understand how these early teams created the magic. For example: how were the devs talented enough to pull it off? Why did the team work? Did the company offer any incentives that made them love coming to work? Were there funny team members. Was management kind to them and if not how did it effect later games. I think you captured this and I think you'd be perfect to explore this topic for other games. I know there is a demand for these kind of videos.
Great video, very well put together and narrated! I've been a huge fan of Tomb Raider since I was a kid and I'm really hoping the series brings back all those innovative and amazing ideas that you so eloquently documented.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. It is pretty interesting to note that one of the things cut from the original game, the slow motion combat mechanic, was later re-added to the series with the Adrenaline Mode Mechanic in Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld.
I'm so happy for Toby to be able to finally return to his beloved game and help shape its future! Legend, Anniversary and Underworld were awesome games!
what an amazing doc, well done! wow! in 96' i bought a Voodoo 3Dfx card & a 24" CRT to play TR1 on PC, the game was conceived & built on PCs before being ported. just a lot of fun seeing Heather,Toby,Gav talk about what they did & those times
Mate... who are you and where the hell have you been hiding? This is some top-tier quality content... As a long-time TR fan I haven't seen this much level of detail ever. I'm truly amazed. Congratulations, my friend. I'm gladly subscribing.
Hey, thanks. I really appreciate your comment. I've not ever really posted much online but I've been editing things and using video software since I was a kid. This was sort of my first really big project that I put my all into to really see what I can do. Thanks for the sub, thanks for the comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I like how these videos made by different people compliment each other, I watched a summary of TR1 and the person mentioned how it compared to it's contemporary Super Mario 64 where Mario was all about speed and fluid movement whereas Lara was more about realism, precise movement and planning, and this video explains how all that traces back to PoP and compare it to the first SMB where all these fundamentals were seeded since then, I found that part so fascinating.
This is by far the BEST documentary I have ever seen regarding the development of the original Tomb Raider, and easily the best gaming documentary ever. Most other videos I had seen to this point always generically covered Lara's original design and backstory and then fell flat, but this one truly went above and beyond. I've been BURNING to know who the actual faces were behind this game, and as a programmer, the technical hurdles, and level of genius they were to be able to create something like this during an era that was incredibly different to how it is now. I truly can't describe how thankful I am for you putting these intrigues to rest and your incredible level research to find actual statements from the original team themselves, and development footage even I have never seen before. The original trilogy is so near and dear to my heart, as I'm sure many others are during their childhood, and I finally have a better picture of how things were done. this should be regarded as the official documentary regarding classic Tomb Raider Amazing amazing work, thank you so much for this.
Very well made documentary video! I adore tomb raider...I'm a bit disheartened that no major gaming channels (that I know of) made any effort to make anything for such a significant milestone for tomb raider (25th anniversary). I'm also let down by the lack of any recognition from eidos and CD as well. For me, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and Tomb Raider are and always will be the mascots for the PlayStation.
Damn this was great. Going through so many memories and emotions. Absolute stunning and professional documentation, full of emotions, facts and research. There weren't many better spend hours in recent times for me, than this one. Thanks for your work, looking forward for more.
Incredible video. Never before have I seen such a detailed and interesting in depth look at the history of one of my favourite games of all time. Great work!
Being TR1 my favorite game, I must admit that this documentary is probably the most complete I have ever seen. I got fascinated the first time I played with Lara in 1997. I went through its magnificent locations and got lost in it s deep and magical atmosphere. Also, I love game design and what you showed in this video really made think all the things involved in the process of a game creation. How all the pieces combined together, how creativity flows and makes wonders. This an excellent video which every game designer should watch as shows how passion and effort can drive through all difficulties in order to put a fantasy into a reality. Keep the good work!
Tomb Raider was the first "big" game I ever completed on ps1 and have loved the series (mostly) ever since. This doc is utterly superb! I hope you're still working on the next video or if not are in a good place. Thankyou!
Breathtaking history! Thanks so much for great evening watch! I am actually completing ALL 'TR' games and right now I am finishing 1st one in the series :) That's my childhood dream, here, after 20 years. Thanks so much for the effort and quality - you're next to the Noclip's level of documentary :) Wish you all the best, and waiting eagerly for more! ;)
Micheal, this is the best documentary about game design I've ever seen. Cool. Having played part 2, legends, and the latest releases on PC as well as on XBox, I think they developed an icon inside of a game. Lara ran away with them and turned into a cultural item. Heck, she even has her own road, and to play her in movies, you need an Oscar on your brag sheet. The latest editions I played for hours, just admiring the landscape.
Bonusfact: the Sega Saturn Version came out as the first - and so it has a Gamebreaking Bug in it. In the last Stage, if you use the Save Christal, it is possible that you cant load this Save anymore. It was fixed in the PC and PS Version. Oh and btw: Core Design was orignaly a very Sega-friendly Studio. Thunderhawk was the MegaCD / SegaCD System Seller. But the Saturn goes in the wrong Direction, so Core has to move on.
Tomb Raider was the first game ever played for play station and Lara Croft still has a place in my heart, when i have the chance always put the game back in my play station to explore the worlds more in deep, i remember when i got the game shark cd for cheats, i loved the cheat ''gold Lara'' that allows you to play any stage with the texture she get when she turns solid gold in Midas palace stage, amazing documentary my friend, you deserve more subs for this video. thank you !!
Best Tomb raider documentary out there! Presentation and content is top notch! Most Tomb Raider docs just repeats the same old common and sometimes wrongs well known facts. I learn so many things in this one. Perfect Work
This is an excellent documentary with high production value. Could easily be shown on TV. Keep at it man, you've got talent! Will share this around as much as I can
I feel so grateful. Seeing the developers struggle to create what is now a blueprint of inspiration for all of us creators and then succeed truly deserves a standing ovation. Kudos to all of their efforts and to this legacy of knowledge. Thank you for your efforts as well. You brought a refreshing and humbling reminder for all of us enthusiasts.
I kind of miss convoluted control schemes like this in games. I remember playing Tomb Raider II for the first time when I traded games with another kid at school(I gave him Wild 9 and he game me Tomb Raider II). Me and another friend who lived right around the corner from kept finding out all the crazy moves Laura could do. I remember i let him borrow it and he called me all excited “yooooo she can do back flips off the wall and a handstand when climbing ledges!...come over and I’ll show you” because I kept calling bullshit lol. Memories
Simpler times those were. I love how all if not most of her movements can be chained together or otherwise play off each other real nice, a jump into a roll and the like. Really made playing the game feel like something different.
With so many memories attached with Tomb Raider, I really loved watching this documentary that is very well packed with information and entertainment. Thank you for such a beautiful piece of work.
This is a special retrospective on Tomb Raider my man, Fantastically produced and researched. This was as much of a labour of love on this video as the original teams craft on the the first Tomb Raider.
Hey thanks so much. I poured a lot of time and energy into this. Tomb Raider is a game that has had a huge impact on me. I only wanted to give the game, as well as its fan a documentary they deserved
I have watched A LOT of Tomb Raider documentaries here on RUclips and I thought at this point I knew everything there was to know but WOW. This was such an in-depth analysis on the development process and I can't wait til your next video! Subscribed.
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for subscribing. I wanted this video to be the most in depth look on the games development that I could possibly manage. Really glad you enjoyed it.
I just realized I sat through an hour-long documentary, didn't take a break or anything, this was fantastic! Very entertaining and the work that was put into this was phenomenal!
Just got tomb raider 2 for the ps1 and can't even get past the training lol. Controls are so different. Looking forward to mastering them so I can experience the game
For me original TR is the best in the series. There's a great sense of loneliness and mistery to it that was completely lost in subsequent games. I still play it from time to time and the magic is still there. Great documentary! Keep it up!
Thank you for this magic hour. Brilliant, very well designed and edited. This may be the best Tomb Raider concept and development video on the internet.
This was such a well put together documentary. I regard myself as a fan, but learned a lot of details I didn't previously know about how all the staff worked on different aspects and the influence of previous games in the making of TR. Really hope you do more of these, they're very thorough and professional
Saw this documentary for the first time today, you did a really great job, definitely on par with The Gaming Historian. I'd also like to say how good it was of you to tackle the issue of sexualisation during marketing, and explaining how the characters creator really didn't like it. There were a lot of points to take from this documentary, and you really did a good job of it, including sound levels, it was mixed very well. Steve T, UK.
I grew up with the games but never learned about everything behind the scenes. Mr. Gard seems like the real deal, a true creative with heart. Fascinating to learn all this.
Amazing doco. Very impressed how you researched and found all that info and media. I loved the segment of the Core team in the pub. I know it was contrived but there’s something very cosy, British and nostalgic about it, owing to the fact old British pool tables have mostly disappeared from pubs…. and pubs themselves.
Glad you enjoyed it. It took a lot of time to find all those videos, quotes, and sound clips. There were many that had to be cut, or just weren't used even as I was trying to make everything flow well. Thanks for the comment.

''His work on the game included building and animating most of the game's characters (including Lara), animating the in-game cutscenes, storyboarding the FMVs, and managing the level designers.[4] Core gave Gard creative control over the game, although it was clear they wanted to market Lara's sex appeal, even asking Gard to implement a nude code into the game, which he refused to do.[5] His vision for Lara was "a female character who was a heroine, you know, cool, collected, in control, that sort of thing" and that "it was never the intention to create some kind of 'Page 3' girl to star in Tomb Raider".
Hence my respect for Toby Gard.... so RARE to have a man actually want a female heroine to be just that, not a pinup. Too bad he left..... I hope he got all the money he deserved.
He had made her talk and look so cool !
True hero.
Honestly so happy this is an hour long! Can't wait to watch it throughout my day! Thanks for gracing us with this masterpiece!!!!
Dude how do you know it's a masterpiece if you haven't even watched it yet before this comment? I mean, really, c'mon.
I do hope this channel isn’t abandoned! I just found this and I can’t wait for another Tomb Raider video from you now! This was so well done!
And you got now Crystal Trashynamics, ruining the game with no shame, and blaming the fans for it 😔 n top of it
@@keylanoslokj1806how are they ruining the game they just made what 6 TR games already.
Recently played through the first Tomb Raider on PC. One of the best games ever, seriously. Fantastic.
tomb raider was legitimately one of the most influential games of the 20th century, I dont know anyone else who grew up in the 90s with a playstation who didnt play it
The production value of your video is absolutely through the roof. The editing, sound mixing, voice post production (no pops, audio level dips), and the information... amazing work! The algorithm brought me here! ... sometimes it works. :)
Wow, this is an exceptional documentary and I'm amazed how much I've learned about a series (I thought) I'm well versed in.
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Thanks so much for your comment. Very glad you enjoyed it.
One of the best making of I've seen for a video game. Very professional, crazy production value. Well done
I'm speechless with all the effort and care you dedicated to this documentary. Congratulations, even as a hardcore fan, I still learned a lot of new things with this. Loved every bit of it.
Thank you. I really appreciate comments like this. Very happy that you enjoyed the video.
Beautiful work! Greatly put together. TR1 is my favourte by far, as reminds me of my childhood and playing with family.
Thanks for your comment. Tomb Raider 1 is my favorite in the series. I've been playing it since I was a child. Glad you enjoyed the video.
This deserves a lot of views
An excellent work put into this documentary making it great.
We are all here because of our love for the early Tomb Raider series.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Engrossing. I was not expecting such a well made documentary. You have done a great job in telling a story and it should reach all Tomb Raider fans
Thank you. Your comment made me smile :)
I actually played it first for the Saturn. I literally couldn’t stop playing. The game was like nothing I ever played before.
If I remember correctly, was it not made for the Saturn first?
Saved to watch later, definitely interested in a documentary of this SEGA SATURN classic.
This here sir is one of the best youtube videogame docos I've seen in a long time. Well done.
This is a fantastic documentary, absolutely loved the pace, coverage and editing throughout A+++
Sub earned. I always find myself whistling the Tomb Raider main menu music. So nostalgic.
Shame that next video never materialized, cause this is some top notch stuff
After finishing this video I checked the channel for the next one and was so disappointed to see he didn't make a video after this
what an amazing doc, well done! wow! in 96' i bought a Voodoo 3Dfx card & a 24" CRT to play TR1 on PC, the game was conceived & built on PCs before being ported. just a lot of fun seeing Heather,Toby,Gav talk about what they did & those times
Mate... who are you and where the hell have you been hiding?
This documentary is excellent, every second is deserving, hope you're doing good. Keep the nice work!
The original trilogy is so near and dear to my heart, as I'm sure many others are during their childhood, and I finally have a better picture of how things were done.
this should be regarded as the official documentary regarding classic Tomb Raider
Amazing amazing work, thank you so much for this.
Amazing man! You did this games history a justice here.
Dude...best documentary ever! You made fall in love with the game n the ppl who worked on it! Thanks for your work...great! 👍
Thanks so much for your comment. Very glad you enjoyed the video.
Damn this was great. Going through so many memories and emotions. Absolute stunning and professional documentation, full of emotions, facts and research.
There weren't many better spend hours in recent times for me, than this one. Thanks for your work, looking forward for more.
That is very flattering thankyou so much. I'm glad you enjoyed my work and thanks for the comment.
Incredible video. Never before have I seen such a detailed and interesting in depth look at the history of one of my favourite games of all time. Great work!
I made this video as a way of giving back to Tomb Raider and all its fans. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the comment.
FIRST
Great work buddy, the quality shows. Can't wait for the next one.
Thanks so much for the effort and quality - you're next to the Noclip's level of documentary :) Wish you all the best, and waiting eagerly for more! ;)
This was FANTASTIC, i can't believe this is only the second video on your channel, you made me want to replay all the games.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Perfect Work
I tried to present as much useful and relevant information about the games development as I could. Thanks for the comment.
This is an excellent documentary with high production value. Could easily be shown on TV. Keep at it man, you've got talent! Will share this around as much as I can
I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Thanks for the compliments and the comment.
29:06 that transition was god like and a love letter the gaming, what a masterpiece
I only wanted to give the game, as well as its fan a documentary they deserved
my man, you have created on of the best tomb raider videos i have ever seen, how are you only at 200+ subs,
incredible work mate, keep it going
Awesome doc!
Fantastic retrospective! Really wasn't expecting this level of quality and depth!
Looking forward to your future videos!
This was phenomenal work. It’s almost scandalous how few views it has. Please make the sequel teased at the end
It makes me wonder what Toby Guard is doing nowadays
This was fantastic! If only the marketing team in charge of Tomb Raider now had put in as much effort as you just have.
The music will always be in my heart always!! 10/10!!!!
You deserve more subs for this astounding documentary! So much for nostalgia for this game. This was the first game 3d game i every played.
Incredible production value! This is some kind of blockbuster, I couldn‘t stop watching…. Thanks and saludos desde Uruguay 🇺🇾👍♥️👍👏
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for you comment :)
Your editing style is very cool. I loved the transition with the Donkey Kong music. Bravo!
Glad this popped up on my recommended. A well done documentary on a childhood classic. Earned yourself a sub m8.
Thanks so much.
Wow! Not bad for a second video on the channel. I appreciate the effort especially on first try. You got yourself a subscriber!
Thanks for the sub, and thanks for the comment :)
For me original TR is the best in the series. There's a great sense of loneliness and mistery to it that was completely lost in subsequent games. I still play it from time to time and the magic is still there. Great documentary! Keep it up!
This is one of the best documentaries I’ve seen on the franchise! Right up there with Steve of Warr and the Game Stat
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Amazing video thanks for your work on this. Love all the classic TR games, 1995-2004 good times.
Thank you for this magic hour. Brilliant, very well designed and edited. This may be the best Tomb Raider concept and development video on the internet.
Wow, thank you. I appreciate your comment and thank you for watching.
This was such a well put together documentary. I regard myself as a fan, but learned a lot of details I didn't previously know about how all the staff worked on different aspects and the influence of previous games in the making of TR.
Really hope you do more of these, they're very thorough and professional
This was an amazing video to watch! Thank you for this work
Great vid! The writing, animations, transitions, story telling, pacing etc. Looking forward to future projects of yours.
Thanks a ton. Always nice to hear when people appreciate your work :)
Nothing better than a long RUclips video about Classic Tomb Raider 👌
I grew up with the games but never learned about everything behind the scenes. Mr. Gard seems like the real deal, a true creative with heart. Fascinating to learn all this.
Amazing doco. Very impressed how you researched and found all that info and media.
I loved the segment of the Core team in the pub. I know it was contrived but there’s something very cosy, British and nostalgic about it, owing to the fact old British pool tables have mostly disappeared from pubs…. and pubs themselves.
Tomb Raider franchise is very special to me. Thank you for this amazing documentary, was a great watch
Thank you for the comment. Glad you liked the video.
Wowser. That was well put together.
This was an exceptional piece of work. A great compilation of interviews and an informative timeline of events. Much appreciated! Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it. It took a lot of time to find all those videos, quotes, and sound clips. There were many that had to be cut, or just weren't used even as I was trying to make everything flow well. Thanks for the comment.
Great documentary! I put it on quietly to listen to as an audio vlog but watched it again the next day to see the video as well.
