- We are in the 60th Anniversary year of From Russia With Love, and to celebrate we review the re-issue of the James Bond 007 Secret Agent Attaché Case, one of the toy world’s most coveted collectibles.
In this video I UNBOX the case and give my unvarnished REVIEW of the piece and the components that create this nostalgic collector's item.
Details: The 2021 case is made from the original 1965 molds and includes a coding device for writing secret messages, a code book, a passport, international currency, secret business cards, gold coins and a viewing movie camera. Updates from the original include the flocked red interior (matching the movie prop), a replica of the original James Bond Secret Agent Movie Camera in place of the gun, and gold coins in place of bullets, inspired by those in the film. It also includes a Secret Agent Pen.
This pen writes with invisible ink. Can only be read by another “00 Secret Agent” with another “Secret Agent Pen” as the pen has an ultra-violet light to reveal the secret!

When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

This is really cool! However, and unfortunately, the more I learn about Barbara Broccoli, the less I like her choices...
It should not cost more that 100, wtf
Our manufacturing cost was very high for this limited edition.
Jay
Needs the original things and no COVID references. Take us back to 1963 unfettered by the issues since.
Wrong. 😂
Correct
Totally agreeing
Frankly, this thing looks very cheaply built. Immediately, when you opened the case, watching how much the lid flexed was concerning. As a previous comment stated, $100... Maybe. I'll wait for Ed to come out with his version.
Dear Allen: Thank you for your comment. We have re-issued the original 1965 James Bond Secret Agent 007 Attache Case from the original MPC molds, to the original specifications. The purpose is to be authentic, not to construct a modern, quality piece of luggage. This is the only official re-issue of the genuine product.
Sincerely,
American Classic Toy, Inc.
Jay
My interest was piqued until you got to the “no gun” part. No gun = no way for me.
I actually had one when they came out. It also came with a squirt pen (like a tiny super soaker) where you drew up liquid and squirted it out.
Barbara Broccoli was willing to make millions with a character that used guns. She can take the camera and stuff it. Hypocrite!
Hi Groucho,
Our intention was to re-issue it with the gun - but Barbara Broccoli of EON PRODUCTIONS nixed the gun. In its stead, we included the BOND-X Movie Camera also from "From Russia with Love". There are many additions and improvements including an invisible ink Secret Agent pen with ultra-violet light. Each case is numbered.
@@jayhorowitz887 Yes, I thought that David made that clear. I would have to have the items originally included for me to go for it. Thanks for the reply.
No gun? 😂😂😂 no thanks! Really cool, but the fact that guns and other normal things are removed from props from a spy movie is treating adults as children.
Barbara Broccoli, if you are trying to destroy the franchise one bad decision at a time, you are on the right path.
Sorry to say that we swapped the gun for the BOND-X Camera with the scenes from the movie "From Russia with Love". Barbara didn't allow the gun. The Bond-X Camera has its own value and is also in the movie. It includes the scenes.
I’d love to see a true-to-the-movie replica of the attaché case. $600 for this is a travesty.
the cardboard box that plastic thing came in is better quality
We intended to re-issue the product with the original Multiple Toy package. The cardboard box with the official James Bond insignia of that time was an EON PRODUCTIONS contribution.
Jay of American Classic Toy, Inc.
Its looks like cheap rubbish in my honest opinion, tacky plastic and the case handle is just awful.
yep, why not make a real case why fake it@@FlatSanta
At 300 dollars it’s a lot of money for a “toy”. Especially as Ms Broccoli has made such changes to the original spec if devalued the suitcase to a collector. Where or where is the gun. Maybe Bond just shoots his enemies now with a cine camera. Perhaps if she had spent less time giving grief to the toy manufacturer to make changes and more time getting a new James Bond actor and a director and a cast and locations and a movie ………… we might all have a film to be looking forward to !
I agree with you. Jay
Its does seem bizarre choice to remove the Gun. When this product is squarely aimed at (no pun intended) at Adults. Further more if the association with a Gun or Guns is such a no no....what about the 007 logo? Its a GUN!
Without the gun it is junk and a waste of money. Do they plan to make the Man from U.N.C.L.E. attaché case without the gun also? Yes I had one back in '65 and it fell apart rather quickly when a child played with it.
Hi - We intended to make it as the original 1965 release, but EON PRODUCTIONS insisted that we do not include the bullets and gun. We included the Bond-X Camera with scenes from the movie "From Russia with Love" with our product. Also we added the simulated gold sovereign coins instead of the bullets. Each one is individually gold stamp numbered.
About the Man from U.N.C.L.E. we do own the original molds and intellectual property rights and may consider a re-issue in the future.
Thank you,
Jay
I'm 3 minutes into the video Davids just got the case out the box ...still in its bubble wrap and there's the original (& best) 007 logo. At that point i know this is gonna be a fantastic piece if kit...albeit to expensive even at $300! . 🍸
I foresee Goldfinger 60th next year being celebrated in a big way.
600
I hope Goldfinger does have a big celebration. Some merch would be cool.
@@agent00asmr Yeah! Goldfinger is one the movies that just has a greater pop culture status more so than some of others in the franchise.
Hi - it was expensive to manufacture this limited edition. Thank you;
Jay
Oh, Barbara...
I've always wondered……how does a spy know when his pen has run out of ink?
It looks very cheap. Still cool but way too expensive.
It was expensive to manufacture and a very limited, numbered edition.
Even for $300 with no gun and no bullets....NO SALE! Broccoli is determined to create a totally "woke" Bond! Say goodbye to the real character of 007. Thank goodness for the original books on paper! There is the true James Bond 007 character! The next 007 movie will probably be as good as the last Indiana Jones movie! (woke crap!)
Barbara Broccoli and her husband, Michael G. Wilson have literally killed the franchise.
If I ever run into her in a Bahamian nightclub, I think I'll take her out on the dance floor and wait for SPECTRE!
So they neutered it.
Great video. FRWL has always been my top Bond movie for several different reasons, including it was the first where the suits, grenadine ties and hats really jumped out at me and influenced my style. Most of all, it was the most Le Carre esque of the Bond movies. Fleming was the fantasy, and Le Carre was the gritty, realistic counter to that fantasy. I always and still today lean towards the latter (watch the late 70s BBC miniseries of Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy), but I have come around and enjoy each for what they are...even Moonraker.
"Not a toy for children" but also no gun. Doesn't really make sense to me. Thanks for the review!
I'm surprised you didn't know about the 50 gold sovereigns in the case-had the ammunition sure but he lured in Grant to open the second case with the gold sovereigns.
I love it!! I was literally just looking at this case online the other day, but the original one. And I thought it was cool, just no way I was going to pay for one. But now its a real option. Thanks for the review and unboxing!!! I was toying with the idea of making my own, just a little project for fun.
Plastic not a good case seems very cheap.
It looks like a full on Replica!
"They don't want to promote violence..." It seems they don't have a problem making millions from depicting violence.
Mine in Britain was a cardboard box case! Wasn’t Happy seeing 007 on the side that Christmas I wanted The Man from U.N.C.L.E. But Santa had sold out!
Let's be fair, >$600 as mentioned in the video (now $300) for this is absolutely absurd. People can do as they wish with their own money of course but why would this be more than $100? I would expect a real briefcase with cast metal pieces, not plastic. The handle gave me concern immediately. Now I get that it's a replica of the 60's childrens playset, but the price tag suggests otherwise. This is a hard pass unfortunately.
It was very expensive to manufacture this limited edition. About the Handel; we used the original MPC injection molded Handle, with EON guidance, we wrapped it in PU Leather to give it a greater quality, feel and body. This way you have the authentic original, upgraded. This is not a "replica" this is a genuine re-issue made from the original 1965 molds that we have saved all of these years for this re-issue.
Jay
@@jayhorowitz887 That's great and what this community needs, authentic. But if it were so expensive to recreate, which I respect, why the drastic reduction in price? Retail $499 with Sale of $299? Are you taking a loss or was the original price of >$600 just too aggressive? While I don't expect you to tell me, I am just curious to know as a lower price point seems more appropriate.

The investment is high plus we had to buy special equipment. Each case is individually numbered. We purchased a gold hot stamping machine, then had to construct dies specifically designed to hot stamp the gold trim on the Code-O-Matic; Knife; Passport Wallet etc. EON Productions wanted us to have the case ready for the grand opening of "No Time to Die". Just $20,000 in air-freight. Each case is individually numbered; we had to buy the numbering equipment. We upgraded the wallet and handle. We had to import the red-velvet material to make the tray. It was a spare-no-expense project, while being pressed for time. Normally, in toy manufacturing, this would be amortized over a reasonable quantity - but in this case we were making only a small run so it is a "Limited Edition". Hence the high cost of each. I personally stayed 6 months to supervise the quality and detail. We respect those collectors that have first issue.
Our intent was not to build a quality piece of luggage, nor a cheap toy. This is the first re-issue of the classic 1965 James Bond Secret Agent 007 Attache Case. It is the genuine original with upgrades.
Jay
@@jayhorowitz887 Thank you for taking the time to respond in such detail. I respect the fact that you kept the integrity of the initiative throughout. Cheers
Cheap briefcase but some cool stuff but all seems cheap. I would just keep the pen.
It does bring back memories of the one I got during Christmas 1965. I also wish they had done it exactly as the original. Next trip to your museum I will have to give it a try the sniff test.
Hi Michael:
Our intention is always to re-issue the classic product as the original with some minor improvement so that the serious collectors may distinguish the re-issue - hence not jeopardize the value of their antique collection. In the case of the James Bond Secret Agent 007 Attache Case, we intended to make the re-issue exactly as the antique with the improvement of adding the red velvet lining to distinguish it. However dealing with EON PRODUCTIONS, Barbara Broccoli insisted that we eliminate the gun and bullets. Therefore, we included the Bond-X Camera (Also in the movie "From Russia with Love") instead of the gun. EON PRODUCTIONS provided us with the scenes in "From Russia with Love" with our toy, to slide into the camera and we added the simulated gold sovereign coins instead of the bullets. The Code-O-Matic; 007 Knife; Code Book and other material is genuine from the original. Hope that explains it.
Best regards,
American Classic Toy, Inc.

@@jayhorowitz887 Hi, I don't really understand Barbara's logic regarding leaving out the Gun! yet the inclusion of a knive is fine. Bond is Guns & violence in various degrees from serious to cartoonish. This set originally was conceived as a Boy's toy. But I'd imagine in this day in age is really gonna be purchased by Adults....probably middle-aged plus Adults.
I agree. Nonetheless we had to comply. So we have replaced the gun with greater value by providing the camera with slides from the movie showing our attache case.
And the 50 gold coins are appropriate to the case but were not in the first issue 1965.
@@jayhorowitz887 Yes, It is indeed a nice piece of kit. Very retro. Displayed in its entirety or just some of the pieces, It'll be a nice addition to any Bond collection, good job 👍
Love it!!
Too bad, drink it 😂😂😂
BS.
No gun, no sale.

Come on David, 60th anniversary theme, but still wearing your QOS PO. Please make an updated video on your SMP 60th😊😊😊😊😊
The unboxing and teasing manner of your latest addition was handled with your customary aplomb. David I find you absolutely wonderful your sangfroid and debonair charm had me from the get go.When you were talking to the various people such as Barbara Broccoli ..John Glen… Craig himself or the endless list of significant names you have in your back catalogue I really feel you are representing us all and what a credit you are in that capacity. The collaboration s with Joe and Calvin et al are marvellous and as an insomniac of many years I often spend long nights in your company. I am 73 yrs old and saw Dr No in 1962 with my Dad in London and was totally captivated from the moment Bob Simmons exploded into view with the first gunbarrel. I have a thought to leave you with . In my view continuity would have been better served with one actor as Blofeld throughout and my choice would have been Anton Diffring the iconic Austrian who made a living playing vicious Nazis such as the SS Colonel in Where Eagles Dare . This type of role was ironic in the case of Diffring as in reality he was anti Nazi and during the war fled the evil regime and escaped to Canada .
Great video. Great unboxing. I had the EK stunt cycle and stunt stadium too. No idea what happened to them with moves.
You like play the new BOND, RIGHT?
I love that Evel Kenevel I had the same toy !!
COVID references in a Bond toy with no actual gun which is in every single Bond poster.. what is going on with Eon?? Turning into woke business suicide.
When most people strike a Bond pose, they pretend to hold a gun in their hands, I think. And completely checked out after the Covid references.
We included the original FRWL Movie Poster showing the helicopter chasing James Bond with the Attache Case in his hand.
From Russia with love & Goldfinger are my 2 all time favourite Sean Connery bond films
And I have my eyes on a rare james bond collectable am bidding for and it's a steel tin of all the bond films and is on 4k blue ray and since we are both bond fans I was asking is it real or a con ?
They have not produced a 4K set yet.
@@The_Practical_Bond thank you for the reply
Congratulations on this item brother, thank you for sharing every detail of the replica, seems like a well worthy investment!
