As a commenter said several videos, and years, ago in this series- Thank you for not putting music over it. It's so much more satisfying hearing the work. Yes, yes yes. Even the heat gun. :)
It was not as easy to find as I at first thought. www.nancylthamilton.com/techniques/basic-chasing-and-repousse/pitch/#Pitch_Suppliers You need to search for chaser's pitch which I found from the Repoussé and chasing wikipee entry. I think you have to mix up chaser's pitch, might check with those suppliers on if you'd need to add anything.
Hi. I'm a new suscriber. Thank ou for your videos. Specifically, how do you make the pitch? I know red Campeche wax and bee's wax us used, in combination with brick powder, but there are some other ingredients added. Proportions are important, and procedure. Thank you very much in advance.
I buy the pitch already made, I use the German red pitch. This pitch is pine(?) resin and red clay with some other additives, that I don't know. You can get a brick of pitch ( about $65.00 US) from All Craft in Manhattan and depending where you are, there must be places that supply metal workers and sculptors with pitch for chasing and repousse work. There various types of pitch available and for some work I use plasticene clay with a barrier of saran wrap which is a kind of flexible clear film that acts as a barrier between the metal and the sulfurous clay. Thanks for watching.
@@Ceropegia Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, there is no such a pitch commercially available in my country. I know the siversmiths in my country make their own pitch, but they are very far from here. I just found two argentinian videos about making the pitch, but the ingredients they use are different in some way. They use pine resine, talc powder or oxide powder to give colour and bee's wax. In my country is used Campeche wax, which is naturally red, bee's wax, brick powder and something else. But I don't know what this else is, the proportions and the procedure. I appreciate your answer.
I don’t think using cardboard as a surround or to stand is very safe, not when you’ve got the heat gun set at 850 degrees! That’s way above the auto ignition temperature for either paper/cardboard or pitch.
Even with the temperature at 850 F. (not Centigrade) degrees it is not hot enough to ignite dense binders board. It's never close enough to get the board more than warm, if it started to scorch or look like toast I would have plenty of time to stop the hot air. Have you ever tried to ignite board with a torch? You might be surprised how resistant it is when you aim it at the flat surface, it catches fire faster when you aim the flame at the edges. Thanks for watching.

I’ve no idea how you don’t have more likes and subscribers. Every time I look up how to do something, you have a video on how to do it. Thank you
Thank you, I think I need an agent...
LOVE your bracelet!!! Great explanation!
Can you explain me what is Pitch and where I can get it?
Great Work.

Excellent! Is there a specific type of pitch you are using?
Very nice work. did you make the bracelet you are wearing?
I think I'd make a wire stand for that heat gun...
@Ceropegia I did check your etsy site--cool stuff. I shall let you know, thanks!

Binders board just looks like cardboard from a cereal box. It isn't.
