this guitar has more knobs and switches than my amp😂
Chase Holland Productions Same
my amp doesn't even have one knob - it's full on all the time and you control it with the guitar's volume control.
jamesha175 That'd be a perfect amp to get that good old classic rock sound! Straight up volume knob
I have an Epiphone Valve Jr amp with one on/off switch and a single volume knob. That is it. So I really know what you mean!
If your guitar has more knobs than your amp, then you have a garbage amp.
Could start a new genre with this guitar.. Jangly metal
While My Guitar Djently Weeps
I wanted one of these SO badly in the early 80s. Not in my teenage price range! Thanks for the video! A lot of Alex Lifeson coming out there ;)
Lol i want one of these really badly nowdays, and it is way out of my teenage price range as well.
I bet changing the strings is a good time.
Anything is better than a guitar with a Bigsby. ANYTHING......
I love my Gretsch, but restringing it is the worst shit ever
Honestly, being a B.C. Rich owner myself, it's one of the most enjoyable string changing experiences out of my instruments. I don't think this would be a big issue to restring.
I think BC Rich guitars are ostentatious and ugly. I was only interested in this because of the unique 10 strings.
Your opinion on looks has nothing to do with how easy or difficult these are to restring. -_-
That sounds like an incredibly versatile guitar. The variatone knob is blowing my mind!
+Andreas Kyriakou If you really like these tones you don't have to worry about your mind being blown...there ain't much there to blow.
@JezBollah 667
I would not call this guitar universal, rather enriched with unique sounds. Of course, it is here that the use of a booster is justified, since the many sound options have a reduced return of the pickup coils. It should be added that double strings limit the bands when playing. I have a replica of Korean production, and if it were not for the hardest (high sound speed in wood) varieties of wood, then mutual microdists would lead to the absorption of clarity of sound. But fortunately this did not happen. The good wood and the MAFIA pickups made it possible to get a very guitar color tone. If you want a truly versatile guitar, then I would recommend a telecaster with a mahogany body, a maple top and a maple neck, equipped with two humbuckers that allow you to make cutoffs. Then you can actually play in a variety of styles on the same instrument. There are no absolutely universal tools.
Wow, i really love the tone of this baby. Sings really well without any effects. Perfect for my style of playing! I want her!!!
Maybe a bit late but he is using a chorus pedal as an effect
@@ryankennedy389 No chorus pedals involved mate. Just the unison strings doing the detune effect.
Such beautiful spectrum of sounds. Lovely guitar to dream about. Thank you for this great demonstration, appreciated for a calmer morning. 🌅
I had one that I ordered from Musicians Friend. That guitar would catch people’s attention! I regret selling it but a kid enticed his dad to make me an offer.
Wow! That has an impressive range of cool tones! And that neck looks extremely playable!
Beautiful guitar. A true work of art.
guys don’t forget to carry with you the users manual to every gig.
I got to check one of these out at Chuck Levins in D.C. like 25 years ago. As long as it was in tune it was the greatest sounding electric guitar ever. It played like a custom shop Jackson the fit and finish was ingot like. Even back then it was like 4 grand...
Bryan McHugh Chuck Levin. Now that brings back memories
I have the store nearby what's so special about it
Beautiful playing
I love it without any distortion.
It needs more knobs...
Very nice presentation & description of the instrument. It IS a remarkable guitar; design & craftsmanship are unbelievable. I think the tone and boost settings are at first blush overwhelming. I feel like it'd take a long time to master all of the controls. The harmonics are really beautiful with the extra 4 high springs though!
Thank you Musicians Friend
so touching for an excellent video
From the sound I'd say those 2 mini toggles are not coil-taps, but series / parallel per pickup. The pickups stay humcancelling but much more transparency and slightly less output.
That is totally awesome
I'd LOVE to own one of those 10-strings - tuned to ADADAD, the four high strings being exactly like my irish bouzouki. This might be the perfect guitar for some electric pagan music!
What kind of strings would that use? Like a normal pack of 6 strings and 4 other strings? Or do you just get a 12 string pack and toss 2 strings
The Dave Mustaine guitar
He had a 10 string, but cut the 4 strings, that made octaves
+Thoraskin I don't get it.
Jay Ward He had one, but cut the 4 octave strings
+Svil Buscus He had to cut of the 4 strings to be able to shred solo's.
Darrin Connor Yep. Or else he couldn't bring the shredterristic solos.
BC Rich guitars are gorgeous and well made, but the person who designs their control layouts needs to mellow out a bit. Even the simple Mockingbird has the most illogical volume knob placement
with the shape i think it's perfect
@@nigel7779 me as well i saw dave mustaine with one in a picture and i wanted one so bad after because i thought it looked really cool
Wow what a great guitar :o
I want this!
Hello Santa, it's me again...
I'd love to have one.
You’re the first person I’ve come across, who knows what the hell to do with one of these.
Wow very psychedelic and dreamy
Great Axe!
It sounds much like my Rickenbacker 12, but the coil and boost circuits add a lot of colors.
is bc rich gouing to re issue the 8 string bich bass?
Neal Moser, electronics WIZARD!!!
Great guitar with a lot of possibilities, and nice review! However, the varitone switch settings seem to be as follows: Under a Blanket, Under a Pillow, Behind a Wall, Next Door, and Down the Street. Maybe some combined tone adjustment could dial in something useful though. I'd sure like to be able to explore a beauty like this myself. Thanks for the demo!
lol
Agreed, Could do without that knob in my opinion
But I like those sounds!
What effects pedal was used along with the bich?
I want one of these badly! I'm debating if i should trade my '88 lp standard for an '82 bich supreme. I love my Les Paul but i've wanted a bich since i was in the 6th grade
Do it!!!
Trade denied :/
MetallicBill I knew someone who had one and didn't know squat about what it was, he really did almost trade me for my Les Paul, but it was actually I who said "Dude I can't do this to you, that's a fucking collector's piece of a guitar" These guitars have pretty much always been pretty expensive but nowadays they really fetch a lot of money....new or used
+trooper1818 People will spend big bucks on a turd if it has enough sugar- coating on it. Do I make my analogy clear enough? They were cool in the late 70s (for about 6 months) and went out of vogue. Now its just nostalgia for everything that sucked about 70s guitar. My buddy had a 70s Bich and it sucked...a million tones- ALL SHITTY. He dumped it in the early 80s for> $500. Except for the extra four strings I can ape 99.9% of these tones (although I prefer not to) with a Tele thru a nice compressor and an LPB-1 into a Twin using picking techniques & playing/adjusting pickup & tone knob settings. Players who need this much crap on a guitar have SEVERE technique deficiencies. Save your $ kiddies...spend those 3000 clams on fucking GUITAR LESSONS.
was that joke intentional?
Very Nice indeed !!I used to have a BC Rich Mockingbird that I stupidly swapped for an Italia Monza and have regretted it ever since. I'd gladly swap it back. Not that the Monza isn't a beautiful guitar, I just came to the conclusion that I prefer Humbuckers :O)
Awesome guitar I like that guitar Dave Mustaine first guitar went he was at Metallica and early formation of Megadeth
is there a left handed version of this
This guitar reminds me of Sam kinisons scream. Tasty playing sir..
Anybody know what he was playing around 4:41? :o
Oh my god it's Stanley Kubrick haha
+TheManwithafan LMAO!!!
+TheManwithafan hahahahahahahahaha
hahahahaha fantastic!!
Lol, my favorite director is not only good at making movies.
How do you tune the harmony strings on this guitar
Tuning pegs are behind the bridge.
If anyone else thought the first riff sounded familiar and it’s driving you crazy it’s a take on Cream- Dance the Night Away (intentional or not idk)
My Bich has a single booster, it's powerful as all hell. Can't imagine needing a second one! Holy shit!
I would be nice to see a new bc rich with a kahler tremolo
I find the Bich (and the majority of BC Rich guitars in general) to be ugly, and it’s never been a dream guitar of mine, but I’ve always found it so damn intriguing. I feel like owning one could bring me some inspiration. It’s also what Kerry King used on the intro for Spill the Blood.
SUCESSO.
What melody is it that is played starting from 2:11? Really nice.. already tried several sound recognition apps on it, but they all failed completely
+Clayne151 it kinda sounds like don't cry by guns n' roses but i don't actually know what it is
+Clayne151 Hotel California by the sounds
+Sam S Hm, I'm not really convinced.. some parts of the melody does have some resemblance, but not entirely. I could not find a version by "the sounds" though, only by the eagles, a vocal cover etc.
Its only the first part of the song before vocals come in. He adds in some as well. The strums he puts in at like 2:43'ish aren't part of the song. He also adds in a pedal after that at one point. After that I have no clue what it is. I wish he would let us know what it is!
+Clayne151 Def not Hotel Cali, probably GnR "Don't Cry" improv.
This is in fact my favorite guitar or at least one of them, wish it came in more finishes though
What's that again 0:18? Haha. I imagine how many takes it took to introduce this.
Check out Paul Chapman playing one of these on U.F.O.'s live version of Mystery Train. You'll be glad you did!
QCK. When I think about these guitars I immediately think of the Queen City Kids!! An Awesome Hard Rock group from the 1970's and moreover the 1980's! I first saw the BC Rich Bich when I saw the QCK live when I was 12 years old. The wore all black leather and they ALL played BC Rich guitars which were totally unknown to the general public at that time! They came out Singing in a frenzy of four part harmonies and Chunking their Axes like I'd never seen or heard! Check out a song of theirs that was a hit called "DANCE" and you'll hear and see what I mean!! Then check out "Down Again" you'll hear the Beatles on Hard Rock! LOL.
Looks like Jerry Garcia’s guitar joined the Sith
Hi, could someone please tell me how much expensive is this guitar? And sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand me
Johny Gat 3 grand
guitarcenter.com has it for $800
+caleb morita Too much...about $2,995 too much. Its a piece of shit.
1:47 バリ良いギター
One thing ican say. Idont know how to play this guitar but i going to buy this smazing instrument and i am going to play it my way !
you play it like a normal 6 string guitar
Dude they're like $4,500 absolutely ridiculous
That's what's up, brother! Do your thing.
Think of this guitar in front of a Marshall JTM100. With the variphase you can get those clean sounds. With the boost the dirty tones... And when normal you have that rytmn sound. So three channels out of the knobs of your guitar.....
Yes, varitone. It switches phase. And yes. I knew that. But thanks for mentioning this here. because this guitar deserves more attention. Because it truely is a tonemonster. And more leadguitar players should discover this instrument.
Here's a second video i just posted with my Rare B.C. Rich Bich 10! These guitars are sweet. They sound open and clear when played clean like an Angel Singing from the Heavens. Once you hit distortion, they scream and growl like a demon from hell!!! ruclips.net/video/HfTPhuwEeJ8/видео.html Enjoy!
wow
how heavy is this guitar?
Raul Rayray bout as heavy as your momma
Brycen Coburn let's get off mom's coz I just got off urs
You're playing a BC Rich guitar and you don't play some old school Slayer? Give me a break!
Who is Slayer?
@@dougdavis8986 get the fuck out of here XD
Wtf
@@rammmer9787 " they say the pen is mightier than the sword, but I say fuck!! the pen...... because you can die by the sword!!!!!!"
👍🤘
can you tell me from where you buy these BC Rich guitar
Niraj Roka on the bc rich website
Coil splits. Coil taps are on single coils.
Zed1967 actually peavey and some other manufacturers were making coil split singles. Coil tapping is when you interrupt the coil through the winding at some point and then it is "tapped" again. The process is utilized by a switch that engages one "tap" in one switch position and then engages the "taps" in the other. There are electronics experts on RUclips that show the process of coil tapping. Also what happens in splitting is one side of the humbucker is sent to one position on a switch and when the switch is engaged it turns on both sides. Hence coil splitting.
You can tap a singlecoil and a humbucker, you can only split a humbucker, you cant split a singlecoil. Comprende?
Dun Dun right, but his point was that taps are not for singles. Yeah, a humbucker is 2 singles ergo you can essentially tap one, but 95 percent of the time it's splitting for humbuckers and taps for singles.
I wish it didn't have the binding. Also I wish it was a solid color.
he said "have a great day" so sarcastically.
Brilliant guitar ! And to add to the the overkill factor in the mix, I'd fit it up wit some sort of mute pads mechanism to make it into a 6 stringer (if it were mechanically possible). Want one !
Love this guitar but imagine restringing the thing!?!😳🎸
I owned a Bich. (Wasn’t a ten string)
Put a Floyd Rose on it.
JB humbucker. Had all Ibanez effects...tube screamer. Flanger. EQ. Delay.
And and old 100 watt Stage tube amp playing through massive pioneer stereo speakers....
People envied my tone
I see 10 tuners but i dont see 10 strings lol. I know theyre there but where are they
theyre on the guitar
The DGBE string all have a doubled string. Much like a 12 String does. The Bass E and A strings are single like a normal guitar.
Cody Mudrack Thank you for not being a dick about it. Some people are to ignorant to see when someones new to guitars.
Anytime man. I do my best to inform people about thing I know as opposed to making fun of them in some self righteous attempt to feel better about myself.
Thought he was going to play Find Your Way Back.
Where can I get one of these? I can't find it for sale anywhere...
reminds me of Robin George guitar
zappa would have liked this guitar, i wanted one as a boy also
Mmm spicy
Is the added nose fudge extra?
Me preguntó si todavía habrá en existencia :(
Where is made this guitar? (Sorry for my english)
its all good i have a polish friend and his English is not the best but I'm getting of track i believe B.C. Rich's are made in California in The United States Of America hopefully that helps and you have a wonderful day =)
10 or 12 stringers are not designed for heavy string bending guitarists like David Gilmour and most other lead guitar players.
What's it like to solo on that thing?
what is the price this guitar?
must be rich to have a bc rich ?
2:14 reminds me of a pink floyd song
This makes me think of early 80s dave mustaine
Could you imagine if Eddie and/or Randy had written on one of these?🤔
Eddie would not be caught dead with one of these. F*cking Ugly
I want one of these for the sheer novelty of owning a ten-string guitar with an oddball shape and 23 knobs on it. It would look good on the wall. Exactly the kind of thing I would waste money on if I won the lottery.
1982 Aria Pro II U100....
I just looked those up...those cheeky buggers!
@@everythingbobbywolfe Oh, no.....if you want cheeky buggers, you need to look up the Hondo Deluxe 785
this guitar is soo fucking beautiful !
I'm a B.C. Rich player both Bass & Guitar!
I own Rich guitars and 12 strings but not one of these monsters. If you show up to a gig with one of these, you better know what you are doing. People's expectations will be high. I doubt many of these make it out of the basement. I wish the presenter made more of a case as to what can actually be done with this that you can't do with a "regular" guitar. Wasn't all that clear to me.
I love my Bich. That being said, I removed the Varitone circuit. The signal amplitude between each Varitone position varies wildly. So, If you want to change that setting during a performance, it must be compensated for in order to have a consistent, normalized signal. Therefore, I found it's overall use limited.
I want this guitar, but now is a history by B.C. Rich.
No more Bich...
R.I.P.
This guitar sounds like Rush songs would sound good on them. Yet I never saw Alex play a Bich before.
This kind of guitar requires a very high quality wire and the booster does not always help to create a beautiful sound. The wire continues to work to balance the sound of the strings.
My buddy got one of these in the 70s (first production maybe?). Dumped it about five years ago for less than $500..."too fuckin' busy and shitty tone." He's rockin' a Squire Classic Vibe Tele now (maybe because that's my main guitar) and loves it. Leo was a GENIUS !
+JopesTV I love Fenders. Anyone have an old LP record from Aerosmith titled "Live Bootleg?" Joe Perry is holding a BC Rich 10 string in the inside cover art, with the 4 extra strings and machine heads removed.
Laurence Pinney my buddy had lots of oddball axes...Travis Beans, first run Kramers, some Japanese Squires thru the years and leans toward a single coil tone these days.
+Mark Cheetah Yes I have that album and I have the inner inlay spread hanging on my basement wall.
Darrin Connor Cool. That's what I miss about those old record albums... the artwork on the inner sleeves
Mark Cheetah don't forget about the posters...
I could have used a few more switches though............
i just dont even like 12 strings let alone electric 10 strings i really dont get these BC rich models because theyre weirdly common, like why a 10 string why not an octave pedal lol, sounds great but man just not a metal beast like what it looks like, i just dont think theyre worth the money, maybe for some psychedelic prog metal ahahaha
every metal guitarist who used these like Mustaine just played it 6 stringed
complicated
