Yep. Many other cities would have done better. I don't know why they keep putting all these teams in places like Vegas where there's 1000 other things to do and tourists run the city.
This was a great video on the current status of the Oakland A's. What I don't agree on is the end of the video thinking fisher will spend money on developed talent they create. The Oakland A's has the worst owner in sports. Owners worried about the bottom line always have mediocre teams. His goal is to develop real estate for pennies on the dollars then sell it at peak value. He also owns the San Jose earthquakes and they have been mediocre for 20 years. Here is an example of why a bottom line owner is bad for sports franchises. Let's take the golden states warrior former owner John Cohen. Buys the team from Franklin mieuli for 130 million. They stay mediocre for about 20 years. didn't win anything and had a couple of decent teams through his run. When he had the we believe warriors, he felt the value of the team peak and sold the team for 430 million ( I might be off but it's well over 400 million) . He sold it to guber and lacob and they had a winning first mentality. Now look at the franchise, they are one of the most valued franchises at $7.7 billion as of Feb. 2024. They invested, kept developed talent on the roster, and built a new stadium. Fisher isn't a winner and will sell the A's a few years after he moves them to Vegas. Fisher is a bottom line owner that needs to be irradiated from owning a sports franchise
these guys overshadow the relocation stuff at some times. i hope they play in sf more because i’ve been so excited about these guys and i wanna see them play, great vid
@@KaiTheBeachKid They were good between '99 to 2006, then from 2012-2014 and 2018-2021. 2007-2011 They didn't have a winning record, but they weren't terrible. In 2022, Fisher deliberately pulled a Major League, and got rid of all the good players and raised ticket prices. Remember earlier this year they sent arguably their best player down to the minor leagues. But if someone could calculate the number of wins per dollar, The A's may be the best team of the 2000s. They never had a high salary. But even still, their lowest wind total was 68, except for the covid year.
Honestly the on field product this season is underrated. I'd also throw JJ Bleday in the list of blossoming superstars on the A's this year. At this point in the season, seeing how the team has done of late, if their record went to 0-0 I'd say they'd make the playoffs. It's a shame I can't really get excited about next season even if ownership decides to keep that core 4 around because I will absolutely not be a fan of a Vegas team that exists for tourist dollars from visiting fans (you can guess what I think of the Raiders and Golden Knights based on that, I especially hate the Golden Knights for starting the trend of Vegas sports, while I'm slightly more forgiving of the Raiders since a lot of their fanbase is in LA I still hate that they chose Vegas). It's likely I'll be cheering for the Padres next season if I follow bassball being that I just relocated to SoCal for work reasons and I know A's management from before "tank the team in the name of manufacturing apathy" is there (ie that team is probably essentially "if Fisher wasn't meddling"), but it will simply never match hanging out with folks from The Last Dive Bar, indulging in fresh picked figs and blueberries, the stadium where I caught my first game ball, ect. Oakland is special, and nothing can replace it. I just feel so much betrail seeing my A's consult my absolute least favourite team of the 4 major sports (the Golden Knights) on "how to be part of the community" such as throwing players out like garbage (Fleury traded for nothing most notably) and Vegas sports teams existing in the name of tourism dollars at casinos from visiting fans. I guess ultimately, go Roots, go Ballers, let's pack OCo next year with bigger chants against Fisher when you cannot say we're giving him money.
I like Shea Langeliers,a real cornerstone player,Mason Miller and SS Jacob Wilson. I believe Bleday,Ruiz could provide power, speed depth. Keep an eye on Cooper Bowman at AAA,too.

it means nothing without a committed owner NOTHING how is anyone that's somehow still following this pathetic franchise supposed to expect any of them to stay when they've had to witness all-star after all-star either get traded, or not receive a contract offer when their current one expires?
Their last title is 1989. Sure they suck now but alot of teams go through down period. 9 titles in history. Alot of teams thats thats good right now dont even hv 1. Padres, mariners, rays to name a few.

Very well said. Fisher is terrible businessman, he was lucky to be born into a wealthy family. For a billionaire, he is a loser.
