Low margin product isn't in Apple DNA. It is either autonomy or nothing. But autonomy has proven to be very challenging.

@@nguyep4even for Xiaomi, autonomy / software is the game. Hence contract manufacturing for metal bits.
Tesla has forged the path, basically solved autonomy.
How hard will it be to copy, in China, in a software org?

I find the exterior design of the SU7 much much better than Tesla's M3... I find it's a perfect compromise. The same about interior. I hate the extrême minimalism of Tesla's... Having an ioniq5, I could easily move to the SU7 if range is above 500 miles / 750 km WLTC. Currently I manage to have about 300 miles with the ioniq5. Don't get me wrong : the ioniq5 is FANTASTIC. I agree with your analysis that FSD gives Tesla its biggest advantage. FSD will become the "de facto" selling feature in the coming years. It is close to deliver all its promises. I give Tesla 5 additional years before everyone wants FSD. I am a future SU7 buyer for sure if it delivers its specs.

Nice review, thanks. I learnt a few things, eg that the base SU7 has LFP battery, and slightly better charging efficiency than the Model 3. I prefer Tesla’s minimalist interior, but prefer SU7’s external shape. My main hesitation with a Chinese EVs is their software, but I feel confident Xiaomi will eventually catch up to Tesla. I wish SU7 were lighter, and so as efficient as the Model 3 in energy consumption.
Hope one day you can drive the SU7 and let us know how you find it. But I suspect Xiaomi won’t be selling in the US market anytime soon.

That price point defies logic. They will need exponential volume to make that sustainable. When you look at inflation in China, this looks to be insanity. Quality control and build quality is pretty based amongst "established" brands as attested by non state media. That's going to be their first hurdle. I think their marketing and finance departments will be throwing themselves on their collective swords.

Design of Xiaomi SU7 is visibly stylish. I would say - female💅 or kitty-like😻 due to soft curvatures of the chassis, slick body, sexy head lamps etc. Sublime paint colors. Good quality interior - like German premium cars, unlike Tesla.
Deep integration between car system and Xiaomi apps and electronic devices.
This beauty is also very quick, so she seems destined for success. She likely become a worthy competitor for Tesla - or rather for Porsche.

Xiaomi built its own factory for electric vehicles from scratch rather than subcontracting BAIC. They signed a contract in late 2021 to establish a facility in Yizhuang, Beijing that includes its EV division headquarters, R&D operations, and the factory itself. This factory is designed to have a total production capacity of 300,000 vehicles per year once fully operational. Tesla was also unprofitable for many years; even now if you remove EV incentives from their profits, they only make like 1 billion USD, and the vast majority of that is coming from Shanghai.

My friend, sorry for the rant, but you should present the differences without omitting your opinion. Base your comments on evidence and do not successively influence people. Personally, I like the Tesla design, however it lacks some important quick access items, such as the emergency button, opening the trunk at the front and back, as well as the glove compartment. Constantly seeing your speed while looking at the center panel is not safe. In my opinion, Tesla only needs to remove the 60Kwh battery from the SR and install the one from the LR (+/-$1000) to make a difference, add quick buttons, and a display in front of the steering wheel. This will all cost about $100 and I had the perfect car.

Chinese crap? That's at best a political statement. Lots of very high quality products emanate from China. When I grew up "made in Japan" was a joke. However the reputation now is one of superb quality. China is making the same transition. If Chinese cars entered the US market it would spell the end of the US auto industry. Equal or better quality at pricing that is better value. The US should erect import barriers or China will finish what Japan started in the 70's. It would be RIP for the legacy automakers.

What happens if the US "erects import barriers"?
      .
Well, for a start, about 70-80% of goods will become more expensive.
Next time you're in a store selling "non-food" items, pick 10 items at random and check the country of origin.
      .
      That'll be instant inflation.....
      .
Next, ask who wins if China says "screw you" and "takes their ball home"?
      .
      Battery materials?
      Gone.
About 60% of components for ICE cars? Gone.
Not to mention the brainpower coming from China, which generally is of a higher standard.
(Average IQ in China is [as I recall] ±22 places higher than the US on the Global index)
      .
They'll just concentrate on the 70+% of the market that *isn't* the US and leave... The US in a contracting market selling outdated technology.... For higher prices.
      .
The US tried to Capitalise over China over the last 2 decades, but China won.

Basically it's free of any issues. 30,000 km now and zero issues to report. 1- Range. These type of cars should be in the 800-900km range that 500-600km range to be massively adopted

Tesla remains wholly dominant with Cybertruck looking further to cement that as far as pure play BEV anyways. Really is remarkable how Tesla had the entire ecosystem to itself for nearly a decade and Tesla spent *MASSIVELY* in that time in China, Europe, North America and who knows where next ... besides Texas. Competition with the Tesla Model Y most definitely being realized from first off Rivian but now GM and Ford. Still yet again Tesla remains wholly dominant specifically with Model Y so while Model 3 sales very much matter not nearly as material as was true when the Tesla Model 3 was first introduced. Model S and Model X still very much material to Tesla tho as will Cybertruck be. Tesla off to a very strong start to 2024 as well. Not really a fan of Cybertruck but expect demand to be as fast as can be made...which appears to be pretty darn fast at the moment. Big opening for Ford, Rivian and GM created by some surprising unforced errors in Cybertruck tho given tremendous delays up until now. Tesla Roadster 3.0 is next up which might be able to put the stake in the heart of range anxiety that one for sure. That no other pure play sports car in the offing by anyone other than Tesla is quite strange actually...so yet another win for Tesla en route for that one as well. Legacy Sedan near all total Japanese badges excepting Hyundai-Kia definitely under severe strain at the moment absolutely...but clearly beat out all pure play BEV at the moment big time still. If an after market for the Tesla Model 3 starts to grow however that could very much change big time. Long $hmc Honda Motor Corporation strong buy.

Your explanation is very fair, so I give your video a thumbs up.
Talking about the SU7 just in terms of aesthetics, the front is more like a McLaren and the side is more like a Porsche Taycan. But it must be said that it combines the two very well. It is a very beautiful car and I like the side of it very much. The paint is also great.
As for the interior, I personally like the simple design very much. However, the interior of Model 3 is a bit "overly simple" and should be called simple. There are also a lot of anti-human designs that are difficult for a considerable number of drivers to accept. The SU7 retains a large number of physical buttons inside, which is very good. In addition, SU7's multi-platform ecological interaction between people, cars and homes is great.
Tesla is undoubtedly the number one in terms of autonomous driving assistance. Assume that Tesla scores 100 points and Xiaomi scores at least 80+ (this is my personal unconfirmed guess). Even today, when driving assistance is relatively mature, this system is only an assistance. I don't know why anyone would 100% trust their life safety to a computer. A computer can crash a thousand times, but a person only lives once. I prefer driving a car by myself rather than sitting in a moving iron box, playing with my phone and sleeping. I am not an opponent of autonomous driving, I am just looking forward to experiencing complete fully autonomous driving in 2026 and 2027.
In terms of driving experience, I believe the gap between them will be very close.
If a manufacturer is willing to let people enjoy 80% of the performance experience of the Porsche Taycan at 1/4 or 1/5 the price, then it deserves respect. He gives ordinary people more choices and experiences.

Also, it can take years to fine tune the ride quality and software. I would wait until they have have several years of experience under their belt

      3.5 years, no issues.
      .
Battery gets a bit warm sometimes but as I run my 5g internet hotspot through the phone it's crunching *a lot* of data.... It gets a raincheck.
I'm toying with getting a replacement.... Battery(!)
But the condition apps say it's fine....
      .
I came from a "standalone" fibre internet contract.
Changing to an all in 5g SIM only deal to cover all my WiFi literally paid for this phone in under 5 months.
      .
Even if it failed I could replace it with similar (I think the processor is even still current!) And that would easily come from my savings.
One of the best bargains I've ever bought.
