Hey there I really love your videos even though I am kind of a noob in rome multiplayer. The one thing I can't get behind is which keys do you press to get this "times 4 arrow" which allows you to move your army forward and even rotate them? Would be much appreciated :)
its holding you mouse on one unit while u got you whole army selected and drag it around, for turning it you need to hold control while you do that

Historically the horse archers can simply not choose to fight this battle and raid ur supply lines instead

I find this type of battle and opponent very hard to deal with. You do it very well. The additional problem is, that his cavalry units are also the faster ones in this game and your opponent could have done even more skirmish and just run you out. Really tough, but you made it, great choice of units and tactics.

I wonder why max 8 missile cav!!!
I mean it's ok for nomadic faction like Cimmeria
But For Parthia, Armenia and Bakteria, it unbalanced the game
This was not the case with previous major league rules

slingers and archers are only counter
Scorps murder horses, never ballusta, always scorps vs them
Also mass archers
never played rome 2 competitive but im guessing his mistake here was sending the cav archers early on to just shoot a few arrows front facing you army instead of saving those arrows for the back of your army when busy on melee

lovely video, and counter against the horse archers, however you could substitute a couple of swords for thureos spears, this way they will force the horse archers to keep more distance, and then they will kill cavalry faster that the thorax swords

Hey, you can't really do it with Syracuse, but just a heads-up horse archers use their own entities for mounts. Medium and above horse archers are the same speed as other cavalry of the same weight class, but light and very light are slower. I am going to forget but very light missile horse is like run speed 10 (I believe speed is 10/9/8 for VL/L/M missile horses) and very light melee horse is 12. This and the fact that Javelin Cavalry uses melee horse mounts means with good micro they can usually ward off horse archers with decent micro unless you are way outnumbered. Any of the cheap very light or light javelin cavalry with 41 missile damage is super dangerous to horse archers if you can micro them. At further ranges you can bait shots with your speed and if they get too close while they can shoot back you can just shadow them while pump bonus vs cav javelins into them and they will die quicker in that instance. I do not advise people to just sacrifice the jav cav but unless you are against a Nomad pro you can really frustrate them as they can't shoot what they want with their horse archers.
Against horse it's a win to have spear with armor maxed in square with archers/slingers massed inside. If your archers and slingers have higher range and damage you'll win every time
My solution against horse archer spam is this:
Slingers ignore frontline, and ward the flanks with their long range, put in blocky formation so they pivot faster. i let them trade with my slingers, and use fake cav charges to make the ranged battle go in favour of the slingers

If you hate playing against enemy who often spam horse archers on battelfield and you can choose faction just pick Royal Scythia.

Isn't it better to bring Thorax spearmen to cover your flanks?
You should fire with archers against horse archers...you should use pikemen because they can do a lot of damage to infantry and cavalry unites.

Scorpions will decimate horse units in just 3-4 shots. Also I've noticed archers or better slingers are the best counter.
Scorpion is not allowed in most land battles
Stupid question, but as a veteran of total war series (since medieval 1), and playing rome 2 since it came out, I still don't know how to move the whole army AND keep formation. I know how to move all units forward with 1 button but they wont keep their places like you did on 1:21. Also how on earth do I do it like on 2:01? How to move a single unit and keep the formation automatically? I only know right click, hold the button and move mouse. 3:07 WHAT ON EARTH?????? How do you do that??
Group everything and lock it, using ctrl+G I believe
Have you had any luck using peltasts against horse archers? They're my go-to counter to AI HA because they tend to just sit them in perfect javelin range. Is the range difference enough for a human with decent micro to exploit?
Its a little bit hard against human, but it could work a little yes

I'm so fed up with them, that I always have at least 4 units of artillery in every army.
Cimmeria just sucks, I think the only viable build for them is full kite with lots of archer, 3-4 HA (most land battle have the max 3-4 HA rules) and a few infantry just to protect the archer

Why not mir thorax hoplites. Like two or three instead of thorax swords. They could chill in the back and end every cavalry

A content creator who plays still agrees with me and knows that Cimmeria is an ubercrap faction. You don't have to stick up for him.
