The mandolin always has such a rootsy, back-porch vibe, and I've never understood why more people don't use it for blues music. My mandolin was staring at me from the corner this morning with that look like, "why haven't you played me, lately?" so I dusted it off and started fingerpicking some Robert Johnson "Love in Vain." I've never tried fingerpicking on the mandolin before, mainly because it's so small, it's in a high register, and the strings are so close together... but I tuned it down a whole step and actually love the sound. It reminds me of what you might hear up in the mountains if your car breaks down & to have to go up to a strange house to ask for help... 😳

This is literally an arrangement of "Love in vain" by Robert Johnson, that includes both his vocal and guitar parts. This guy is truly an open channel of the blues vein
I’m convinced he can play any blues arrangement ever created on just one instrument

I hear you! When I was much younger I was standing on our airliner talking on one of those early generation cell phones we called "the brick" and suddenly this flight attendant I knew shouted "you're going to get cancer!" (from the phone's radio waves) and do you know all within a couple of weeks I was diagnosed with a bowel cancer and was about to go in for a colonoscopy. I wrestled with the "am I going to die, etc.. but one subtle difference. I am Born-again and I have been steeped in faith over the years, so as I was at work the night before my colonoscopy I found myself getting angry inside against the devil and his evil attempts at destroying us all- and I felt something rise up inside me and I yelled out "devil, I rebuke you for trying to put this sickness on me!" Then, I thanked Jesus for whatever was coming, and when I arrived at my colonoscopy a young woman sat beside me and began to relate that she had suffered a brain tumor, and a few other things in her young life. We prayed for each other and for some strange reason I felt SHE was there for me, and then we parted company- me to my life and what was to come, and her to her future.
Long story short, no cancer in me! Praise the Lord!
Never give up..I have heard it said "you are not dead because there is NO tag on your toe.. so live! Pray, fast and call for the elders of the church ..

It was used in blues for many decades. Yank Rachell is probably the most famous blues Mando player.
That was terrific JJ! Request, I would love to see you do a tribute to the late great guitarist Peter Green. He started Fleetwood Mac back in the mid 60's when they only played the Blues. IMO, that's when that band was the best! Anyway, be well & stay safe....👍👍🎸🎸
