CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Captain Jones (Jeffrey Donovan) accuses Mrs. Collins (Angelina Jolie) of trying to perpetrate fraud and commits her to the Psych Ward.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Los Angeles, 1928: On a Saturday morning in a working-class suburb, Christine said goodbye to her son, Walter, and left for work. When she came home, she discovered he had vanished. A fruitless search ensues, and months later, a boy claiming to be the nine-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of cops, reporters and her conflicted emotions, Christine allows him to stay overnight. But, in her heart, she knows he is not Walter. As she pushes authorities to keep looking, she learns that in Prohibition-era L.A., women don't challenge the system and live to tell their story. Slandered as delusional and unfit, Christine finds an ally in activist Reverend Briegleb, who helps her fight the city to look for her missing boy.

This is a nightmare. There's no escape. If you don't fight, they'll just think you're crazy. If u try to explain and fight, they will definitely think you're crazy. I feel bad for the real Christine she had to go through all this.
Angelina Jolie is INCREDIBLE
She's a good director too.
@@nocturnalrecluse1216 you mean actress
@@giuseppinalombardo4842 she also directs
@@giuseppinalombardo4842 She does both
Outstanding performances by both Angelina Jolie and the actor portraying the corrupt police chief.
One of Clint Eastwood’s very best films as a director. Right up there with Unforgiven and The Outlaw Josey Wales.
The fact that this is highly based on a true story is incredibly sad.
"F*** you and that horse you rode in on."
Great line - it's meant for those who are mean-spirited, inconsiderate, or unfair.
The way Angelina delivered that line tho was so iconic. Love her relationship with the blond woman at the asylum🥺
This scene makes me wanna fight
Me too.
Same.
I want to punish those who are guilty.
I would toss those police, those from the mental institution into a super-max prison
same!
Kate winslet's performance is not as strong as enough as that of Angelina ! They did the same with Ellen Burstyn ! The latter had given a wonderful performance in Requiem for a dream, She definitely deserved to win but the Oscar went to Julia Roberts !
I don't really seem to understand how the Academy Award members choose the winners !
Agreed. I love Kate Winslet, but this was a great movie and I was really impressed by Angelina Jolie's performance. Definitely one of her better films and roles. It was directed by Clint Eastwood- how can you go wrong with that??
As far as the Academy Awards....who the hell knows how they pick the recipients? :/ I felt a lot of talented actors/actresses were screwed over. It's only an award, the people not of the board know who the real winners are- even the recipients I am sure are not that dense.
Angelina was robbed😭😭😭
I can't even describe how awful it is , I'm not wishing this even the person I hate the most...
If only the media wasn't consumed with the public figure "Angelina Jolie"...they may see the amazing actress Jolie is
That was her fault
The Los Angeles Police Department and Corruption has always been one dangerous mix but sadly people still don’t want to believe it🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤬🤬🤬🤬
I’m confused. In the movie, it was recommended that Captain Jones’s suspension was to be made permanent. But on one site, it says that in real life, he was only suspended for a few months.
It sounds like it wasn't permanent after all and he beat the system.
Same with the chief of police. He was removed from that position but later reinstated. These men obviously had friends in high places.
Also he was supposed to have paid her a fine for what he put her through but he just never did. Nothing ever happened.
Even by today you can still get wrongful committed
It is such a moving story full of suspense!
The way Christine Collins was treated by the LAPD particularly by that officer is despicable. There was definitely a cover-up going on in this case. It's so sad she never found her son and always believed he was still out there. 🥺
Yeah, and Captain Jones got off easy, where he was only suspended for 4 months without pay after what he did to Christine. Needless to say, Jones had powerful friends.
@@killer92173 That’s terrible. He deserved so much more.
It was incredibly easy to become committed at this time.
This makes me terrified AF of insane asylums
Having been to the psych ward, I can confirm it is still quite a terrifying place. Once people have decided you’re nuts, it literally does not matter whether what you say makes sense or can be proved. You will not be trusted or believed by anyone about anything. The psychiatrist I was seen by in the ward shot down anything I tried to explain and gave me a diagnosis that makes absolutely no sense with my symptoms. It’s been on paperwork for the last year and almost ensured that doctors won’t give me the correct meds now. There’s a lot of abuse of power for inpatient psych. Psych wards were of course much worse with the use of electroshock and such back then, but some things don’t change. Try to never end up there.
Idk why but the thumbnail looks really artistic like an oil painting
This scene makes me wanna punch someone.... esp that captain... ugh... police corruption and intimidation are still happening nowadays...😡😡😭😭
Guys, that nurse is the same nurse in the insane asylum in Good Burger.
"She suffers from paranoia, delusion of persecution, and dislocation from reality" sir, you're a cop... the projection is real.
He has delusions that makes him think he is a psychiatrist
Now adays that would be unconstitutional.
I just figured out this was based on a true story like 3 days ago I feel like the village idiot
Some like Jolie ! Some dislike her...
I think an argumentative essay should be done on her ! lol.
There's no valid arguments to dislike her besides the affair with Brad Pitt.
Damn this aint as fun as girl interupted
This is the second movie where she's in a mental hospital...
isn't it kind of funny that the insane asylum nurse in this movie is the same in good burger?
Well done film, but the title is a misnomer. The changeling segment is a relatively small part of this multithemed film. It's about police abuse, psychiatric abused, a psycho-killer, and other things. It went on too long though with all these different aspects to it. I really wonder how many films "directed by Clint Eastwood" he actually directed. I suspect he director of most of them in name only while others do all the work.
S. Adam Bernstein Doesn't make sense. He directed most of them. What makes you think he just taking all the credit? Don Siegel and Leone is his mentors so it's not surprising that he produced well done films
Re the title: that was the point. The trailer made it seem as if the movie was going to be about this woman whose son goes missing and she goes insane; to many of us, who had never heard of the case and went to see the movie for the first time, the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders and LAPD corruption aspect was like whiplash. So unexpected. It is one of my most favorite moviegoing experiences. I was expecting a period movie about a missing child, but it turned into so much more.
Can we all appreciate how much a phenomenal actor who played the corrupt Captain JJ Jones is??? He really makes you hate EVERY FIBER of his body!!!
What is a 5150 or 72-hour hold? 5150 is the number of the section of the Welfare and Institutions Code, which allows a person with a mental challenge to be involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization. A person on a 5150 can be held in the psychiatric hospital against their will for up to 72 hours.
The idea that you went in mentali institution just because you said that somebody is not related to you before 100 years gives me fear in bones.
I hope those bastards go to hell for throwing her in a psych ward
I now can not watch Burn Notice becuz of him lol
Why did the police take her to the mental hospital in this movie?
To keep her quiet - because she was developing a good case against them and had people on her side to prove that the boy they gave her wasn't her son Walter. She learns when in the ward there are many women sent there by corrupt cops to keep them silent.
Damn these lame brained institutional robots who are only concerned with keeping their jobs.
*T A K E N* 😱
If only they had dna testing back then
They used dental records to identify people.
