Ticket to Ride is one of my favorite Beatles songs. But I always liked That Means A Lot, and I really would have liked to have seen a full production of it on a Beatles album.
This is Fantastic. Unless I am looking in the wrong places I find it hard to find studio / rehearsals of ticket to ride, which in my opinion is the Beatles greatest song. Hopefully some more of ticket to ride rehearsals will be uploaded.
I don't know if this really happened... in that case, Paul's melody would be a totally different song, but also beautiful... I remember that song with Fab 4 playing in the snow... the world was so innocent then...
Who wouldn't pick "A Ticket To Ride" over "That Means A Lot". I don't see how that is even a contest... The first one was a huge #1 hit single around the world... and the second was a song they thought so little of - that they gave it to P.J. Proby to record. It is interesting to note that the song did get to #24 on the UK singles chart when released by P.J. Proby in the spring of 1965. Here is a link to Proby singing it in 1965: ruclips.net/video/FKbRCb1tswE/видео.html It is also interesting to note that The Beatles recorded "Ticket To Ride" on February 15th, 1965... and P.J. Proby recorded "That Means A Lot" just 5 days later on February 20th, 1965.
"That Means a Lot" was eventually given to PJ Proby to release because the Beatles felt that it fit his style of singing better. But it didn't go far in the charts. He was too "full of himself".
@@Lucille_McCartney73 : For me, John is the best, but I love them all ! We all have our favorite, right ? 😉 What I don't like is the war some fans are waging between John and Paul. Peace, brothers and sisters, we are all Beatles fans ! ✌️☮️
That Means A Lot was what they started with, John said it wasn’t good and it was too hard for them to sing so they gave it to another artist, but John had Ticket To Ride done a bit so they just used that instead. Both songs are so good 😢, should’ve just had a B-Side with That Means A Lot.
Interestingly enough, they did a take or two of That Means a Lot with a drum pattern not dissimilar to Ticket to Ride. Give them credit, they tried hard to make that song work and it just wasn’t happening.
ah, yeah, Paul. I mean your version was good for being 'on the spot' (didn't they give the background track to prepare a bit ?), but I go with the group vote on this one. WE still LUV ya, though! Mom. 🌎
Never even noticed how "that means a lot" fits into ticket to ride lol
Alex So funny on how many of the ‘Lennon-McCartney’ songs fall into each other, like these two did. Going to have to listen more closely to all now.
I have, Alex. It makes for a great medley! haha
Alex It doesn’t, they changed the chords to fit when Paul started singing. The only similarity is that both songs start on an A at a similar tempo
They both fit into "Stand by me".

Paul’s lyrics are from an actual Beatles song called “That Means A lot”
Night Prowler yes. On the second anthology album. Such a great composition.

I never heard of that one, until I saw this Beatoon.
I like John's lyric, better.
Awwww poor Paulie!😢
His vocals we're quite astounding though
Sophie Hanssel paulie lol
They both wrote very good songs. Might have taken a little cue on what to do with the sound or even a lyric, but all were done so well.
Sophie Hanssel IKR!!! Poor paulipoo... Show more respect for him... also...
I LOVE YOUR PROFILE PIC!!!
I’ve always thought that these two tunes are little similar. You made my fantasy come true!
I love your comment.
Great work!
That Lennon's voice sounds like my grandfather voice (he is 98 years old).
I feel bad that i laughed at it 😂😅
julio césar flores nah John sounds like an old woman
I just wish “That Means a Lot” was put on “Help”.
Paul is brillant but John's lyrics were awesome here...just genius
You live and learn. Thought I was the biggest Beatles fan ever but I'd never heard this before !!! Now I can't get it out of my head. Very nice.
Poor Paul :/ His song version was just as good as Lennon's.
I actually agree 😭
so these toons are just to rag on paul?
I'm actually wondering how Paul lost to John.

In an alternate universe it was "Ticket to ride" that got scrapped and "That means a lot" that hit #1. Imagine that ;).

Just goes to show how you can re-write "Stand by me" and get a hit.
The major/minor turnaround sequence has been used in about 145,000 songs. Unchained Melody probably the next best known one.

Hi Al,
Very interesting seeing how the Ticket to Ride riff works with the other song. Johns was certainly better than Pauls and deserved the prize.
HE SURE DID!!!!!!
Peter Kennedy Shut the fuck up
Sophie Hanssel Shut the fuck up too
Ss Finch How rude!😤
Peter Kennedy It doesn’t work exactly. It’s just that it obviously fits with any major chord, and that means a lot starts on a major chord
GENIUS
Congrats! Ryohei Kanayama,Alvaro Ortega and Stevie Riks.
I can't believe how popular this series is. The jokes are such obscure Beatles trivia references.
These are really well done

Pretty much. John’s song was recorded five days before Paul copied it (2/15/65 and 2/20/65). And don’t blame Ringo.
