@@shahbazsoofi8322 Mine's a 2007, would the outside of the stock radio say it was JBL? How can I tell. I'm the third owner of this Prius, and have no idea what the OEM radio is.
Your instructions really help! Overall we’ve only ran into one problem. When using a JBL amplified model, just took a bit more focus and thinking about what goes where. The problem: at 7:16 you mention an adaptor for the SWC, which I don’t know where to get an adaptor or why we need it. I understand connecting the red and black wires to the jbl adaptor interface, but once we’ve done that we’re unsure what to do with the Jack, brown wire, and brown/white wire for the SWC harness. Thanks again hope that this isn’t too complex of a question!
The 7:16 adapter is the female 3.5mm to two brown wire plug that is included with the Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control package. This is meant to convert the 3.5mm steering wheel control signal wire to your radio, into a "Key 1 and Key 2" connection for brands that don't have that specific port. The radio we used is an off-brand radio, doesn't have the 3.5mm wired remote input for steering wheel controls, so that small adapter was needed. If your radio has the wired remote input, that brown wired adapter isn't needed.
Is the setup process exactly the same for a BOSS BE62CP? Or are there any differences, even the smallest little things? I would greatly appreciate any information at all, thank you.
Thanks for the video! I used a different SJoyBring radio and had to swap the SWC-1 and 2 wires to get the steering controls to work. My up/down arrows aren't recognized by the radio, but the Mode and volume control is working.
Thankyou for the video just had one question. I’m doing the same install on the same year Prius. The 2 brown wire adapter is what I’m trying to figure out. Great video I tried 3 different radios and I kept getting distortion. I have that JBL system, how much I hate it. My previous Toyota did not have it I added a sub so quickly but this jbl sounds so bad with the tyto01
For added reliability, it's best to add some 22g or similar stranded wire to that resistor and heat shrink the assembly to keep the strain off the resistor leads, then attach the resistor/lead wire assembly to the harness. Question, I ordered all the kits that you listed, but did not receive a resistor in any of them. Can you be more specific on what the resistor is it how to get it?
The Resistor comes in the the dash kit linked in the description of the video. Metra includes it with the install kit, it's small, and can easily be missed.
I ordered the connectors suggested and the did not fit the original car wiring connectors. I have a touring package on my 2007 Prius, not sure if that would make a difference.
I don’t know how to tell if it has jbl. I was sure it didn’t before because it a base model. But I bought it used and I’m not so sure if it has jbl or not.
Ok I did some web browsing and I found the jbl amp where others said it would be. I also ordered the jbl adapter that was linked in your video. Does it wire up the same way as the other connectors? Am I still gonna be able to use the aswc-1 to retain my steering wheel control?
In the dash din kit that is linked above, the reviews are saying there is not a 68ohm resistor included. What 68ohm resistant watt is required? Some saying 1/2 watt? And does it matter which end of the resister goes to white/pink wire?
That resistor is VERY easy to miss in the packaging, and most people accidentally throw it out. For each prius i've installed radios in, it's always been there, but the difference is i'm watching for it. Yes it is a 68 ohm resistor, and 1/2 watt is fine. It's omnidirectional, so any end will do.
There is no canbus with the radio for your generation outside of the heating and air control resistor that we added. No smart harness needed, see description for parts.
I have the JBL version, so do I just need the *Axxess TYTO-0* Harness Adapter? What are the two links after that one, do I need those as well or are those alternatives… or what? Thanks!
Yes you will need the TYTO harness if you have JBL. The two links after the TYTO harness is for steering wheel volume controls. If you dont have steering wheel volume controls, those links are not needed. If you do, and want to retain them with the new radio, they are required.
So I just installed a new aftermarket head unit, everything went well, it works perfectly fine, I plugged everything back in and even double checked and when I turn on the car, the red triangle pops up with a red car on the original screen. Will that go away or did I mess up somewhere?
@@ProvoBeastAudio Yes I did. The warning just happened to disappear so I do not know why it popped up in the first place. Thank you so much though. I appreciate it.
At the eight minute mark on your video, you do not explain how the small harness with the white plug is wired to the steering wheel control. Can you provide some clarification? Thanks!
The small white plug is the Metra 70-8114, and it's a plug and play harness that is meant to retain your factory aux and main connection for steering wheel volume controls. The other end of the white plug connects into the Access ASWC-1 steering wheel control interface. All that harness needs (in terms of manual wiring connections) is power and ground (red and black wire respectively) which just needs to be connected into the main radio harnesses red and black wires, just to snag power from your main radio harness adapter to power the ASWC-1.
i only have question if for my car i should get jb amplified cable or now.. i esarched a bit and my car passanger side doesnt have the amplifier but the top door speakers say jb on them so does that mean its jb sound system but not amplified ?

For the steering wheel, are you connecting the green and grey wires (labeled steering) to the two browns on the adapter? I am having a hard time getting steering to work. Thanks
It depends on the radio you are installing - if it is a no-name brand (Like we are), you will need to go into the radio's SWC setting and manually program the buttons as they wont be automatic at the radio level. If you are installing a brand name unit, no further action is required as it programs automatically.
I am curious about something that maybe you can help with? I have the same radio as is shown there. I do not believe it is JBL. All I really want is the ability to use Bluetooth. Can I just get the OEM radio from a model with the Aux feature (which are available), connect a cable up to that aux output, and then connect that to a Bluetooth? If so, any idea the cable I need?
My 2005 is totally different than what yours has, mine only has two harness cables behind the radio although yours have three cables Can you clarify please?
You may not have steering wheel volume controls, which is why you only have two, or alternatively, you may have factory JBL, and have the main harness and secondary steering wheel control harness. Just depends on your trim!

I checked the phone setting and it is not in the phone so I am thinking I needed another harness or something else for the factory amplifier, any thoughts/suggestions?
@@ProvoBeastAudio volume on the module was turned up all the way but also discovered that none of the door speakers are working so I am guessing I wired something wrong with the harness. Will have to pull it all out and recheck
You’ve left out very much needed information. The radio had a small harness with a white plug. You neglected to show how you hooked that up. It all the sudden was hooked up with 0 explanation on which wire goes where.
Radios significantly vary based on brand, and model. That small harness included wiring they wasn’t in the main harness of the radio. With this very specific radio, the small white harness includes the reverse wire, parking brake wire, front camera power, and your steering wheel control key 1 and 2 wires. That can completely change if going with any other radio on the market.

@@ProvoBeastAudio Yes I did. The warning just happened to disappear so I do not know why it popped up in the first place. Thank you so much though. I appreciate it.
@@netro1906 How long did it take to go away?
Hey I've got a 2010 prius Gen 2 wondering if this will work on it?
If it's the same body style, then yes.
Thanks for your feedback. I sent you another question on Messenger.
@@ProvoBeastAudio you didn’t provide any clarification. The small white harness that connects to the radio, you just all the sudden have wired in.

Dumb question😂 does putting a new radio into a Prius make the battery die quicker?
Where can I can get the resistor ? Heater and AC doesn’t work
Hi. Would the SJOYBring D006 use the same additional parts?
Highly recommend going with a name brand unit. These cheap Chinese radios are crap. amzn.to/3R6QBr6
Are you saying the Joybring radio recommended in the video is no good? Should I go with the boss linked above?@@ProvoBeastAudio
I bought this unit for my Prius based on your video. Can I pay you to get some advice via a zoom call?
I don’t do zoom calls, but you can certainly help you over our Facebook page if you send us a messages.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Thanks. I just sent you a message with Fb Messenger
Wonderful!
i only have question if for my car i should get jb amplified cable or now.. i esarched a bit and my car passanger side doesnt have the amplifier but the top door speakers say jb on them so does that mean its jb sound system but not amplified ?
If you have any JBL logos from factory, you have a factory amplifier.
@@ProvoBeastAudio even if I don't have an amp under the passanger seat?
Well, only true way to know if pulling the radio and seeing what harnesses are available behind the radio. Someone could have added "JBL" speakers aftermarket and added the logos afterwards. If you send us a message on facebook or instagram, i can help point you in the right direction.@@afrasm2478
Thanks!
Hey thanks Stevek1959!!
After install, when you call someone, does it use the cars original mic? And can you use the voice button on sterring wheel?
Original mic is on it’s on circuit, so an included mic with the radio would need to be installed.
Yes to steering wheel buttons.
תודה!
For the steering wheel, are you connecting the green and grey wires (labeled steering) to the two browns on the adapter? I am having a hard time getting steering to work. Thanks
Same problem, let me know if you find the answer.
Could you find that little resister?
It depends on the radio you are installing - if it is a no-name brand (Like we are), you will need to go into the radio's SWC setting and manually program the buttons as they wont be automatic at the radio level. If you are installing a brand name unit, no further action is required as it programs automatically.
Can you tell me what type of resistor i need to buy because their is no link of that
The resistor is included with the dash kit which is why it’s not linked separately.
To use all the parts on video do i have to use same radio or can i get another radio and use same parts?
Any standard double din will work!
My 2005 is totally different than what yours has, mine only has two harness cables behind the radio although yours have three cables
Can you clarify please?
You may not have steering wheel volume controls, which is why you only have two, or alternatively, you may have factory JBL, and have the main harness and secondary steering wheel control harness. Just depends on your trim!
@@ProvoBeastAudio but then how do you connect it if there are no extra plugs in the car? Just leave them unplugged?
@@blackblaze1996 Again, totally depends on your trim of your Prius. Sometimes, you won't use every factory harness, sometimes you do, depends on the trim and adapters you use. If you need assistance, send us a message on facebook.
If you don't want to still use the factory backup camera in the upper screen is that possible?
That’s what I’m wondering…
It is in fact double. My backup camera still runs through the top screen@@robertgray20
Can you tel me what diode you used
I can't find the little resister and even you didn't show it while unboxing the radio?
The resistor is included with the dash kit, not the radio or harness. Look in the dash kit bag and it will be there, though it can easily be missed.
@Broc R. YES!
Hi
What size resister u put in plz
i have a question. I have the JBL version and was able to get everything connected but now I have an issue with the sound being really low both on the radio and when connecting a phone through the USB port. In fact, the phone through the USB port is lower than the radio. I checked the phone setting and it is not in the phone so I am thinking I needed another harness or something else for the factory amplifier, any thoughts/suggestions?
If you used the JBL Harness suggested in the description, there should be a dial on the module that you can turn up.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I did. Thank you.
@@ProvoBeastAudio volume on the module was turned up all the way but also discovered that none of the door speakers are working so I am guessing I wired something wrong with the harness. Will have to pull it all out and recheck

What 20pin and aux input did you use? It isn't listed
It is, Metra 70-8114.
How much for a all kit?
It’s all linked in the description for current price.
Doesn’t work if you have a factory JBL radio unit ,
What ohm rating is this radio?
4 Ohm. Found in the installation manual
In which city are you located?
We are in Utah

You mean a dash kit? Yes you do.
Guess I'm stuck with a stock car play 😅
You’ve left out very much needed information. The radio had a small harness with a white plug. You neglected to show how you hooked that up. It all the sudden was hooked up with 0 explanation on which wire goes where.
Radios significantly vary based on brand, and model. That small harness included wiring they wasn’t in the main harness of the radio. With this very specific radio, the small white harness includes the reverse wire, parking brake wire, front camera power, and your steering wheel control key 1 and 2 wires. That can completely change if going with any other radio on the market.
This is a general install video, not a specific dive into the radio itself. If you want to see that video, it’s on the channel.
Is it possibe to put the new unit where the existing info screen is? Would it fit and/or is there a kti available?
That screen is needed for the hybrid system. Replacing it may heavily impact the performance or fiction of the electrical system
@@ProvoBeastAudio I mean to move the MFD down to where the head unit would be, and install a head unit higher up. If I'm going to use google maps in the head unit, I'd prefer it to be more visible
