    "Prolly Neva" by Rambo Music

    Genre: #indiedance
With a month under my belt as a NYC resident, there’s one thing for certain. People move faster here than anywhere else in the US. From conversations to putting one foot in front of the other, the default pace is 5 minutes late to the activity that follows. In other words, time is precious, treated as such, and ain’t nobody got time to waste. Moving at breakneck speed, your orbit constantly comes into contact with other humans, entering and exiting erratically and at the whim of a preexisting relationship or current mood. Timing is everything. And just as Rambo perceives on this featured track, despite the organic connection you just had with the girl at the DJ set, odds are high that you’ll “prolly neva” see her again.
Rambo -- part-time surfer and full-time DJ out of SoCal, describes his music to be as if James Brown & Tame Impala made house music together on an island. A bit half-baked if you ask me, but the CEO of Disco Naps is spot on with the island bit. Fusing afro-percussion with the psychedelic sounds of the ocean, Rambo produces smooth, untainted tropical house music.
“Prolly Neva” from his 2018 self-titled EP is as groovy as they come, prebuilt for a beach rendezvous with its leisurely house tempo. As you begin to stir from your own disco nap, this track is well-suited to get you right back in the swing. Employing a Caribbean drum kit, some spacey keyboard tones, and the twang of a steel guitar, Rambo concocts the perfect sonic beverage for you to drink in poolside. Throw in the “Prolly Neva” vocals along with the sample of a dial tone heading for the machine, and this is a highly relatable track in a world where ghosting has become so commonplace. The laissez-faire vibe suggests a pragmatic approach toward the issue, because, at the end of the day, if you can’t be happy on your own, who’s to say another person will make things different.
