Im a retired groomer. I was clipping the nails on a very large, male 10 month old chow. Out of no where, he launched himself at me and caused lacerations on my arms. He jumped off the table and was hanging himself. It took 3 off us to get him off the table. He came after each of us. He knocked me down and broke 2 of my ribs. I was Taken by ambulance to the hospital. Never again!
My experienced groomer friend was helping me right before Christmas several years ago in the original Rover‘s building and we had a chow that was supposed to be groomed. He was so aggressive. We could barely even get a leash back on him to get him in a cage. When the owner got there, we had the owner come back and get him out of the cage because we were afraid he was going to bite us.
the bully breeds can turn immediately and for no reason. My brother years ago came upon a huge chow who had been attacked badly by a pack of dogs in the area. His eye was hanging out,... My brother took him to the vets patched him up and brought him to his house. Pooch they called him. When I would come to visit, love dogs, afraid of them, really afraid of Pooch, they would, thank goodness put him in the basement/garage for me to get into the house and visa versa. On one visit, as I am always up before anyone, Pooch was sitting on the deck all by himself. Huh, I went out and sat beside this boy MUCH BIGGER THAN ME. Our parents were visiting on that trip. When they got up looking for me and my brother sawing me sitting with Pooch he got our parents right away. But I could never do that again. It is so awful to get that it is so overwhelming.
@@RoversMakeoverOfficial this dog is Good. And her people have not taken care of her at all. I do understand finances can dive at any time. My 12lb bichon is so difficult, the groomers say no, I'm thinking they fib. I don't have a good set up for grooming though. but no she is just bad. and a clown.
I haven’t seen posts from you for a while. I watched for years and somehow lost you when I had to replace my tablet. I hope you and your daughter are doing well. Merry Christmas and a blessed new year to you both. You are the best groomer as far as I can see.
They couldn't even properly care for this poor dog to the point that she's filthy, matted, and unspayed. Now, will they take care of their new baby any better?? I'm speechless...
I know typically chows are supposed to be aggressive in the sense of territorial, and protective of their pack. But I've never had a bad experience with one, and I've never owned one but know a handful of people over the years that have had them. Owners have told me I'm for some reason I'm strangely an exception. My friend's grandma has a black show this size. A different family friend when younger had two light tan chows that were definitely bigger as a neighborhood few houses down too from my mom. I think they're extra sensitive to people's moods, don't know, especially if they aren't frequently taken in the public for socialization from puppy age on. And typically people are already wary of chows to begin with and they can sense it. This one is exceptionally calm and sweet. ❤
I have to agree that if you've got a dog with a high-maintenance coat like this and you've just had a baby & you KNOW you're not going to have time to brush her & take her to the groomer as much as she needs, a shavedown is the right choice. A year from now it'll all have grown back and her owners will be feeling much more on top of things than they are right now. If it doesn't grow back quite correctly, well. She's not a show dog anyway.
I really wish you would do my chow chow. Our groomer says she is the only good chow he grooms. It's all about how they are raised. She loves people and other dogs and absolutely loves children! She's great at the groomers. It's just like any dog. It's all about how you raise them and socialize socialize socialize!
I'm in month 5 of owning my 3rd chow. 2, including this one, have been rescues. I have a very knowledgeable and experienced groomer who says to the dog "listen Mr, I am the queen and this is my castle. What I say is what goes here!" And they fall in line and do as she says. However, after a bad grooming experience at a major pet store chain, I only go to low stimulus environments where I can sit with the dog for the whole grooming session. I find this keeps my chow calm and relaxed and focused. I love my chowdren and treasure each day with them.
I had a few Chow Chows and breed them. I had no problems with them and the people that took the puppies had no problems. You have to be the pack leader and socialize them right away. One litter had all 5 colors so of course i kept the Blue. They need to be brushed every day. I would get a Walmart bag full of fur with each brushing.
I only did one Chow in my grooming career he was a doll. But was warned in grooming school not to take them on as they don’t warn you if they are going to bite.
@@RoversMakeoverOfficial wow thats kind of rude of the owner...this girl enjoyed every minute of your groom, just like us. she was such a good girl. thank you so much, so sweet of you! love from the netherlands.
It's sad they didn't find you sooner before they had the baby. I understand your fear after being bit. I have a fear of unknown pit bull/ mastiff after one went after my chiweenie and knocked me down flat on my back. Ended up having to have my back fused. So now I head in another direction.
I have chosen my whole life. My 1st one lived to be 21 and never met a stranger. My last one was my service animal until she passed at 13. It's all in how they're raised
Poor baby , so neglected if they let her get like this before the baby was born what will she get to be like now they have the baby . She is so lovely as they should rehome her with someone who will love her and see to her needs
I think this breed is very hard to train and therefore they can get very aggressive, when it comes to impulse control. It think they have a very low tolerance of it. And of course the breeder you got the Chow from plays a big part on it too. Good breeders usually breed only with dogs which are not aggressive. That's just my opinion.
I groomed my own Chow Chow. She loved it. But I'm positive that she never would have allowed anyone else to do it. Chow Chow's are normally a one person dog, just like Chihuahua's
I worked for a veterinarian. One day a chow came in the clinic for treatment. He bit the doctor’s hand leaving a long gash across his palm. The doc sutured his hand shut himself! When one works with animals you learn what breeds are problematic and not to be trusted.
Hi, just checking by. Noted I had seen any posts for quite a long time, so youtube hasn't been sending things for a while. Excellent you are doing your usual catch-and-catch-up, in this case noting things as anal glands and the dog being in heat. Also like you put a muzzle on, after reading people's posts; The "don't get any warning" factor, and they are guard dogs. Good to state that it isn't necessarily the owners that result in attacks, that the breed has characteristics that can dominate. She looked like she thought the cleanup a great relief at times. Since from what people wrote, a Chow seems to need to be groomed every day, a lack would have a lot of buildup. Your discussion seemed to be on similar lines.
These idiots get dogs they can't handle a respect others tone able to handle them. My friend has a.chow about 6 yrs old. He always loved me and let me pet him and loved my Afghan Hound female like you wouldn't believe. All of a.suddenhe.started biting people that he always liked. His owners are wonderful people. I stay away from him now.
It's not the breed I've had multiple chow chows and all of them were friendly they have to socialized like from day 1 they are one person dogs it's not the breed it's how their raised that's like saying every pitbull is a fighter nope it's how their raised and if you're nervous the dogs can sense that and it will make them nervous try a peppermint or gum to hide that because it comes out in your breath

Makes me mad, irresponsible dog owners ( or any pet).
Thank you for helping this lovely lady❤️

It’s nice seeing you back. I am in awe that you’re still grooming even with all the pain in your hands/wrists.
Do you still enjoy grooming?
Yes I do!
I love watching your videos they have helped me through some rough times there so relaxing and satisfying to watch there transformation ❤

That dogs grooming needs have been so badly neglected that I couldn’t even tell it was a Chow x x
They had a baby 2 weeks ago... did they, in the time she was pragnent, take a brush to comb the dog???? Poor doggi 🙈🤬
16 years...congratulations!!! 😊
I would have liked to see the finished groom.
Aww, I hope they don't get rid of this doggie because of the baby. TY for helping this chow, MB. I pray she behaves.

A friend of mine have a chow chow and she is not aggressive at all, but she is very stubborn. If she dont want to do something, it aint happening :P
1:50 looks like a lion ❤
She's a sweet Chow ❤
They are not aggressive. If trained properly they can be great pets.
Where's the end of the groom??
Same behavior with sharpeis... No thanks .. it's the breeds .. for sure ..0
Shiba Inu is another iffy breed.
Marybeth what happened to the rest of the groom video finished before the ending 😂😂😂😂😂
If this is how they take care of their dog, I’m afraid for the baby. Chows do not like children. Give that fur baby to a good responsible home.

I’d rather work on 100 pitbulls than 1 chow chow 😂😂😂 good job though
How come you don't usually groom chow chows if you're doing this one?😊
They are very unpredictable and aggressive
That is the most ridiculous and sad thing thing I've ever seen. Whoever "owned" her shouldn't.

Got cut short? Video that is. 😊
Why hasn't the lady been "fixed?"
Aww... she's very pretty and has a puppy.🐕
Is a puppy? lol💜
