There used to be a strange dead end north of the elf city. The city hadn't been implemented but its walls were there. You could squeeze along a narrow path between the north wall and the the edge-of-the-world blackness. There was no purpose to it and I never saw anyone but me there.
I used to love hanging out in that area in between Draynor and Lumbridge. It was always my happy place whenever I play RuneScape as a kid. Even after getting membership. The music really sold it for me.
I think my favorite odd places in OSRS are quests & associated areas from pre-2.0/Runescape Classic, that were added and used for only like one or two quests and never updated since. Areas like the digsite, Sinclair mansion, clock tower, relics from a time when the world was small and anything could be just off the edge of the map that are now surrounded and fossilized in place
I just did underground pass for the first time ever the other day, I understand the hate from an even fresher perspective! But the fact that it is so large and truly alone was nice in a way.
Great vid mate! Really well done and THANK YOU for putting subtitles throughout. Some huge channels with millions of subs don't even bother so that's much appreciated!
I watched your Super Mario Sunshine video and watched the part about Sirena beach, and you said that it's one of those mundane areas that you just love and can't quite explain why. I was going to comment this on that video, but then found this one, so I'll leave it here: Asgarnia in general, but particularly the area between Port Sarim, Rimmington, and Falador. Sometimes I'll just go there in-game to relax and reset my mood. Especially the Makeover Mage and the area surrounding their house and south of the Falador wall, and the farm south of Falador. These areas become 10x more relaxing when you have the music on. I don't think this was the intention but southern Asgarnia gives off the same vibe as those little pockets of very quiet semi-rural areas that happen to be near suburbs that you may stumble upon while aimlessly driving or walking.
I totally understand what you mean about the huge bare cave in the Underground Pass. It's so huge and lonely and there's nothing else like it in the whole game that feels like it.
When I heard you say you've put 19 days into this game, I had to check how long I've played. Just over 126 days. I still feel like there's so much more to this game than I've already done. Maybe once I get my trimmed comp cape...
Seeing the Duel Arena brought back some memories... Spent some time doing duels in there myself, but I wasn't any good at it, being so young and not really understanding a whole bunch of stuff. I've been enjoying watching these videos. They remind me of Any Austin's "Unremarkable and Odd Places" series he started doing a few years ago. He hasn't made any entries in that series in a few months, but watching through your Video Game World Tours series is helping to fill that niche. Thanks for your hard work!
Not sure if anyone pointing it out but in the OSRS viewer if you press Q or E you can bring the camera down and see inside the PvM arena. I believe the reason you can't see from above is there's a ceiling rendering which blocks the birds eye view.
Something funny about the gambling. Jagex started screwing with the streamers at some point, waiting for the perfect moment to ban them live on stream as they got that big victory to rub salt into those wounds. Of course, the point of it was too ban all accounts involved in the gambling, so both sides of the transaction got nuked. You can absolutely find clips on RUclips of streamers absolutely losing it. It's pretty funny.
I enjoy visiting the Fishing Realm whenever I get the hard clue for there. Another scenic place is out west by the Outpost, no one is ever there and you feel a long way from home.
One place I can think of that fit this type of video are the small clearing of hill giants between the observatory and the Ourania altar. When doing the Observatory quest, you can't actually see the hill giants from the office for the Observatory because they're just outside the NPC render distance from that spot. And even if you DID know that they're there, there's very little reason to fight them there as there's far better places to fight them.
As someone that's played OSRS since it came out 11 years ago, it's honestly sad that outsider observers saw it as nothing more than a gambling game. Duel arena was a tumor on the game and I'm glad they excised it
Great stuff! Love all the observations. I'm retired from the game now for a couple reasons. Funny how the main thing I still have from my bagillion hours of playing old RS and OSRS, is being able to enjoy videos like this a lot.
If you do another video on Runescape, it'd be neat if you went to visit a certain crossbow found near a climbable minecart in the Abandoned Mine. It's a spot that, obviously, has a place in the hearts of many. If you know, you know.
6:29 - When I was a kid, my parents didn't liked the idea of spending real money on games, either... So I had to wait until my birthday or christmas to ask for something like this. So yeah, I know this felling, too.
This is a bit of a particular request, but I think this series would be PERFECT to cover LOTRO (Lord of The Rings Online). My absolute favourite MMO to just hang out in the world of!
You probably won't get there yourself for a long while yet, but I think you'll love Prifddinas, the elf city. While the RS3 version is a very gameplay-centric theme park, OSRS' take on Prif is first and foremost a place where people live, with all the game activities tucked away between, under, and above the houses. So there's lots of little corners of the town you might not notice!
If you do another, the Citharede Abbey is a weird place. its kinda hidden and not used really. Also unrelated but i have a 5 year old mousepad that is a map of all of the runescape map and varlamore is on here as well as other islands
Hated underground pass on my UIM but on the main it was comfy as fuck. On the UIM I hate it mostly cause of Seren boss fight. When you die to it you basically have your entire bank held by a random elf and have to do the entire trekk to get your bank, warp out to get a looting bag and put your stuff in it. Then you have to regear (for me it meant diamond necklace plus nitroglyceri npotions but now apparently you can stack nightshade so the boss fight is much easier due to basically being able to bring infinite P necklace back then you hade to bring half p necklace half nitro potions.) Then again when Zeah came out you could just get sara potions from the chest in forthos so you had other alternatvies. Anyways this made undergroup pass very stressful and annoying to get back over and over again to. I always took the tyras port way it was much faster.
oh, just thought of a pair of games that it'd be awesome to see you take a look at some day; Phantasy Star Online(in particular Episode 1 and 2 on gamecube) and Monster Hunter Tri> While all of PSO1 has a certain feel, this one in particular remembers clearing out enemies from the VR Ruins stage in Episode 2, in particular VR Ruins 2(the one set during sunset) and staring out over the water, seeing the cosmetic ruins sticking out of the water at odd angles. It was...solemn yet peaceful and calming. There's also the seeming City well below you in the other VR stage. other areas that stand out in this one's mind include all of Forest(the first stage, appropriately) Especially Forest 1, where it's day and sunny. Or Caves 3, it was just such a drastic change from the fire and magma theme of Caves 1 and 2. And of course there's the little bits of Pioneer 2 you could explore; the lobby and the main ship areas for Episode 1 and 2. Don't remember too much of Episode 3 and never played Episode 4(it was a PC exclusive), but there could be something good there too. Heck, even just the beauty shots from the opening FMV look fantastic for a game first released in the year 2000. As for Monster Hunter Tri, never got to the end of the Village Quests even, but the online-only City(Loc Lac) just had this certain vibe, but maybe that's just a desert-city thing this one has. But both the opening island and the Flooded Forest stages jump out in our mind, the former as a well made if generalized first stage composed of sweeping planes and a large mountain, with herds of massive Aptonoth roaming around and grazing. And the Flooded forest just felt...serene in its own way. A dense rainforest, this one remembers going on a free hunt once or twice at in-game night and just climbing to the edge of a cliff and looking out over the expanse of rivers and trees, all the way to the horizon where just a horizontal strip of twilight-orange could still be seen. Would love to see what you think of them.
There used to be a strange dead end north of the elf city. The city hadn't been implemented but its walls were there. You could squeeze along a narrow path between the north wall and the the edge-of-the-world blackness. There was no purpose to it and I never saw anyone but me there.

when i fantasized about becoming a member i always promised the duel arena would be the first place i would visit

don't worry champ you nailed the pronunciation
fisher realm 4 lyfe
i wish my poh could be like the fisher realm
I totally understand what you mean about the huge bare cave in the Underground Pass. It's so huge and lonely and there's nothing else like it in the whole game that feels like it.
I loved how it mixed in with the going mad/getting corrupted aspect to it
When I heard you say you've put 19 days into this game, I had to check how long I've played. Just over 126 days. I still feel like there's so much more to this game than I've already done. Maybe once I get my trimmed comp cape...
I love these types of videos. There is always so much to see

I really like the little progress bar with the B roll.

I get addicted to this game every couple of years
You DID NOT fall off. Love this series so much, keep it up!
As someone that's played OSRS since it came out 11 years ago, it's honestly sad that outsider observers saw it as nothing more than a gambling game.
Duel arena was a tumor on the game and I'm glad they excised it

As a commentary I approve of this message ❤ great video as always. Keep it up I haven't yet summoned the courage to start my own videos.
There's a very unexceptional ruin located on the deep north and east of the F2P Wilderness in what appears to be a little peninsula.
Any place surrounding the Wilderness Ditch is incredibly comfy to me in a strange way
Im a simple man, i see a capybara and i click. And then i stayed because this channel is wholesome and great
Here for support and also because orange capybara king in the thumbnail :)
Moss giant island and myth guild magic trees. Great series
Hey, I used that teak tree for wintertodt training too!
If you do another video on Runescape, it'd be neat if you went to visit a certain crossbow found near a climbable minecart in the Abandoned Mine. It's a spot that, obviously, has a place in the hearts of many.
If you know, you know.
who needed a casino when you had the arena
runescape is interesting, ive never felt like playing it or watching it be played, but its always been talked about
Hey, my spot made it in! And on the thumbnail yet? :o
Love the content Pretz, always super interesting!
You should check out the Dorgesh-Kaan agility course. You might also like Trollweiss Mountain (cause of the snow)

I Like this. Good job
What a special channel this is
my favorite youtube channel! thank you again!
Could you do a video about Lineage 2 secter/obscure areas? That game was for a time the rival of WOW and a game i hold dearly in my memories.
17:12 Deep Rock Galactic moment.
If you do another, the Citharede Abbey is a weird place. its kinda hidden and not used really. Also unrelated but i have a 5 year old mousepad that is a map of all of the runescape map and varlamore is on here as well as other islands
Guild Wars 2 could be neat to look at from yhis perspective, and neat video 👍
I'd love to one day. The world of that game feels really unique.
you should make a video like this on crescent quest!
Teak tree will have a great view for players on their ships soon.
Sorry about my username, changed it to make it easier in case it ever gets mentioned again c:
I support you no matter the name 🫡

when i was 11 and paid for the membership using my own money was truly a magical moment.

leaving this comment so a "you fell off" isn't the top comment

You know you're early when you're here before the overly positive cameltoe pic.
OSRS is so good
