Thar looks huge ! However, despite its ‘hugeness’, no luggage space and a hassle to access the rear seat. Jimny, while diminutive, it has fairly good boot space and moderately usable back seats.
The Jimny is the only 4x4 in market with solid front axle and 4 wheel coilovers. It's a shame there are not other 4x4s in the market with a similar design.
Try again after removing rear sway bar of Gurkha/ or putting a thinner one - you’ll be surprised with the articulation.(It's a DIY 5 minute job).Gurkha has two sway bars - front and rear (extremely thick)that’s why limited articulation to control body roll. Others have only one sway bar (anti roll bar ) in front (and extremely thin in rear and some don’t have one!), older Gurkhas (BS3,BS4 Xplorer/Xtreme) also had thick front (thin rear) sway bar and much better articulation than BS6 Gurkha. But still Gurkha overall is less efficient in off-roading compared to other two due to heavy weight and less power to weight ratio. Needs an expert to drive. Jimmy is a legend ❤❤❤. Lots of love to jimny! *And Gurkha would not topple without rear sway bar as front takes care of that; rear sway bar helps with sharper steering and better control over turns*; for off-roading enthusiasts it’s a perfect and a must deletion or a thinner off-road sway bar.
Used to watch your channel..me too a Gurkha owner. But this is something else. Like always maruti is cheating their customers with poorly built sheet metal body vehicles...see jimny accident in kerala....also the self burning vehicles espresso and all are a real threat...for 18 lakh maruti jimny do not even withstand a minor collision..

And Jimny even in international versions isn’t safe - people use it only for off-roading - it’s not safe on highways. But it’s great for Himachal as speeds are never that high here.

Why anyone should spend 18 lakh for this paper box
In addition I want the current gen gurkha to bring back dana44 solid front axle like the gurkha xtreme, the g32 gearbox from traveller and map it up for producing similar torque output as the traveller's fmtech 2.6 i.e 120hp and 370nm
These three cars will easily climb this terrain in two wheel drive also, since these are all rear wheel drive,you have to put three to four persons in the rear seat and drive in one motion. I will even drive maruti Alto in this terrain with ease. In hilly areas, this is common road.
Easy to say... What you need most in my oppinion is the courage to accept defeat or failure.. Critics having the ability and courage of accepting defeat and failure is also helpful by the way..
Prashant sir, i was waiting for this part II, excellent video. You have a really clear concept on what, how and when. Thar ,Gurkha and Jimny i have a better understanding now, love from Arunachal Pradesh.
Many people were commenting on the boxiness design of the jimny, they don't even have any knowledge of vehicle performance and what not, they are also mostly complaining about the big price tag but i feel they won't even be able to afford an alto even given the chance. Jimny is one of the best small suv you'll ever find in the indian market at the moment.

But why not use rear diff lock in Gurkha even if there was an issue with 4x4? even at the starting point, couldn't just the rear diff lock be sufficient to prevent the tyre-spin?
It was not about what Gurkha could do with its tools. It was a demonstration of ARTICULATION from the factory, that's all. And BS6 Gurkha has very restricted ARTICULATION from the factory.

But with the MLD of Thar and BLD of Jimny, atleast a show of Gurkha's diff lock could have been fair too, I think..because even with their unrestricted articulation and MLD/BLD, they had to get out of the obstacle by engaging 4x4. Same 4x4 was engaged for Gurkha too, but it's diff lock was never given a chance to show it's capabilities, and if it could have come out with just the diff locks engaged without the 4x4.
@@aduityadarnal7259 that Gurkha is fucked up probably due to those heavy ass offset wheels with even heavier LT MT tyres. Had a hub issue so wasn't put through the obstacle.
I think they have engaged the front diff lock and turned the steering so it got broken. I've heard somewhere that when using front diff. lock one should keep the steering straight.

I have been driving these vehicles since past 40 years. Without doubt the Jimmy is far better for this kind of terrain. Major advantage is the weight factor. In Long distance driving, the thar is the best. Gurkha is best for taxi service. Really like your videos , very knowledgeable 🙏
@@prashantadventure7564 Sir what will be the best AT tyre size 205/R15 for Jimny. I don't want to install big tyres as i have a gypsy (2018) also and it performs nicely with 215 Tyre size having no issue of rolling resistance while off-roading. What I have realised is that for small engines like gypsy and Jimny bigger tyres create issues while off-roading putting load on the engine and stalling regularly. 205/215 are the best tyre sizes for these two vehicles for off-roading especially in snow.
Thar shouldn't be called an offroader, like its ancestors. Thar lost its offroad legacy when redeaigned to catter urban snobbery, and pretend offroaders...thar is to show off, jimny is for offroading. Advantage, Offroad tracks cannot be expected wide, jimny's smaller size and less width gives advantage. In fact thar and gurkha are uselessly heavy, but its cabin space is poor, so eventually you are carrying useless metal parts burning lot of fuel... Only to ahow off. 😎

Jimny is the best off-roader as per design. Pure off road design under the body. Light weight with such axles makes it the most capable. Gurkha has certain flaws and without 4x4 and lockers its a failure. With lockers , its also most capable. I doubt thars 4x4 mld . But it makes out due to big heavy foot and suspension,tyres .
The first Thar's wheels and tyre combo isn't ideal for off roading. 16/17 inch rim on 30-32 inch tyre will give you good and thick sidewalls, which when air down when off roading you'll gain more traction. There's a saying "more rubber more traction". The Gurkha although smaller tyres it's got better wheels and tyre combo.
Jimmy with lift kit and better tyres should be unstoppable. Another plus for jimny is the 500kgs weight advantage over thar.
Please check jimny accident in kerala..and understand the poorly built stupid vehicle
