Porto is truly a wonderful city... I love the fact it's small enough to comfortably walk around, the buildings are beautiful and that the lunch menus are such incredibly good value!

Worth going to Porto if only for the tiny strong black coffee. Bica. 🤎
We love Porto... and yes, the bica are delicious 😀😁 - Mandy
I actually had peacocks outside my flat when I was aged 0-2, too and yes - they make a right raucous racket!
Aren't they just so raucous! Those stunning tails almost make up for it but only just at 6 o'clock in the morning 😂😁
What a gorgeous view at 15.47! Love Portugal!
Portugal is wonderful, and Porto is still my favourite city! ♥️🇵🇹
I love Portugal, have been many times. Love the food, did you ever try tripe in Porto? Not something that i would usually go for, but here its a specialty and it was amazing. My many visits I stayed with Fernando a couch surfer host, he was a great resource for local food.
Hi Cindy. We haven't tried tripe here... we had a couple of experiences with tripe in Argentina in 2009 and it put us off trying it again! Thank you for the suggestion though - we'll have to give it another chance! - Mandy
That's the first time I've ever seen those other Super Bock varieties. :¬)
We haven't tried any of them yet - they're not that easy to find down here in the Algarve. I'll make a concerted effort to track them down before we leave 😁😀
Love the old style trams, so much nicer than the new ones. New camera shows those peacock colours beautifully
The old trams have so much character! We didn't go on any in Porto but went on the iconic No.28 in Lisbon, which was a blast... video coming at some stage in the next few weeks :) It's amazing to see the difference now that we're using the GoPro 9 and the Samsung S8... they still have their own idiosyncrasies that we're learning to look out for, but the improvement in colour, lighting and smoothness is astounding! I'll never go back to a mid range phone - willl buy refurbished top range phones going forward, as still couldn't bring myself to paying all that money for a brand new phone 😂😁
Greetings! If only the peacock said hello back 😂
Maybe they couldn't quite think of a name for the jeep..umm 😊 Ok that'll do.
Lovely place, nice looking food, decent prices and nice company (awww) 🌹 Thanks!
@Ed Ek Hahhha... the peacock was unfortunately rather reticent 😂
That's the best explanation yet for the name of the Portuguese 4x4 🤣😁
Thank you for your lovely comments...we had such a great day and a delicious (and cheap!) meal!
@@FrugalTravellers Well, there's a much better explanation! UMM is not a name or even a word but an acronym. It stands for União Metalo-Mecânica, a Portuguese metalworks company. Here's some information on the subject:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMM_(Uni%C3%A3o_Metalo-Mec%C3%A2nica)
ruclips.net/video/XbUPEYIIFdo/видео.html
@Miguel Coelho Thank you for the excellent information and links provided! I'm surprised we didn't see any in Angola, maybe we just didn't notice them!
There's a link with Lee's hometown - the Massey Ferguson factory was in Coventry, and supplied the UMM mechanicals!
"with Ferguson Diesel tractor allwheel driven mechanicals"
We love hearing new and interesting things - thank you for your comment!
@@FrugalTravellers, You're welcome. I'm glad I could be of some service.
@Miguel Coelho I love the look of the UMM - that front is so unique! They sound like sturdy workhorses that just keep on going.
Nice city tour! The gardens of the crystal palace look beautiful 😀
Thank you! We love wandering around a city... and are firm adherents to it being about the journey, not just the destination 😀😀 We were running out of daylight so didn't have enough time to fully explore the gardens but they looked so lovely.
Lots of carbs in those meals!,,,,
Yes, we like carbs! 😀😁 - Mandy
Callardo Vieira noooo😅😅😅 Carrilho
Haha. Obrigado. Sempre eu cometo erros. 😌 - Lee
Are you guys staying for Christmas.
Does the rules change depending where you fly from regardless of what nationality you might be ?
For example u can't fly to Germany If you are from the north of England .
However if someone from north was in Poland or Portugal can they then fly ???
@D.o.c McSHUFFLEs We're in an enormous Aparthotel in Praia da Rocha, near Portimaõ on the Algarve... we'd booked 2 weeks but as the prices were so low, £81 per week, we decided to stay another month so will be here until the 7th January, or maybe longer 😁😃 Video of our apartment coming soon... we're currently working on Porto ones then there'll be loads for Lisbon. Lee might put the apartment one up earlier, in case people are searching for a Christmas getaway.
I'm not sure of the current UK restrictions as we left the UK on the 31 October, before the new restrictions came in on the 5 November. The site we check re: borders is Reopen EU.
I really like the food you find, always tasty and really good value !
@Steve Mehew Thank you! Being Frugal Travellers we're very budget-conscious so end up spending a lot of time looking for great deals! Porto was an absolute blessing in that regard, with so many good value set lunch deals!
My boyfriend was persuaded to try a Fransesinha by our Portuguese lad friends when we went to Covilha - he ate it all up and was very polite about it, but he has an aversion to egg yolk mingling with other liquids so it wasn't for him at all! 😂
Oh no! We didn't have an egg with the first ones as it was an extra €0.50, so we know that egg can be optional. I'm not that into steak but oh my word... I loved Francesinhas 😁😀
@@FrugalTravellers Oh I’ll be sure to tell him he can opt out of the egg!
Yes curfew is on ! They like to serve chips and rice. These Peacocks live a peaceful life.
We were surprised to see peacocks in many different places in Portugal - there were even some wandering around the petrol station that we walk past when we go into Portimão! 😀😁
@@FrugalTravellers 😃
I really enjoyed your video. Great channel. ⭐️ 👁
Greetings from Albania. 👋🏼🇦🇱
Thank you - that's always so lovely to hear 😁😃 We visited Albania in 2011 for 1 week, and had a great time! We went to Berat and Tirana, and are looking forward to returning 😃
The lunch menu, 6.50 the coffee and wine were extra?
No, they were included! The only thing missing was a sobremesa 😃😁 (dessert). I wish I'd known then just how much cheaper lunch menus were in Porto than in Lisbon or Portimão! I'm glad we ate out there so often... as we definitely aren't eating out as often in other parts of Portugal!
@@FrugalTravellers wow, great price. Eating out can be expensive in Portugal, so that was a great find.
@Fr Hackett We found so many places in Porto with similar prices and menus for lunch... I don't know if the prices have dropped because of Covid but Porto was way cheaper for eating out than Lisbon or Portimaõ! I'll make sure to add more photos of menus in my videos so people can see the prices.
Vitela assada is amazing.
Lived there 7 years and born upnorth loved everyday
Isn't it incredible! I couldn't believe the richness of the sauce and meat... and no reliance on salt or seasonings, just good hearty flavours! So delicious!
@@FrugalTravellers it sure is.
Dont forget to visit the house of music in Boavista and then go to the beach nice walk overthere in the parque da cidade.
Best fish in Matosinhos straight after. Hope you enjoy
Wondering how you're so good with portuguese being from New Zealand.
Loving your shots at Porto one of my favourite cities😀
@Bruno Torres Thank you so much for your kind comment! We're actually in the Algarve now, staying in Praia da Rocha! We tend to shoot loads of footage in a place during the day then collapse at night... then wait until we get somewhere for a while and edit our video footage there! We went from Porto to Lisbon and had an intense 10 days there... but are now here for 6 weeks so can edit and upload all our Portugal videos 😁 To keep up to date with where we are, check our Instagram page as that's always in real time!
@@FrugalTravellers I get it.
Algarve has got a lot to offer too wouldn't mind to be anywhere in Portugal at the moment😂
Anyway I'm enjoying your channel keep it up new subscriber here in Nottingham UK
Loving your energy
@Bruno Torres Thank you! It's always great to hear from new subscribers! It'll be good to get tips and advice from you on Portugal as well! Lee first studied Portuguese back in 2014, 6 months before he went to Brazil for the World Cup, and started again a few months ago. He said it definitely helps that he speaks Spanish and some French, but we're both struggling a bit with Portuguese pronunciation!
I hope things are well for you back in Nottingham. We keep checking the weather forecast for Coventry and can't believe how much colder it is than the Algarve! We're still having to wrap up well though as the apartment isn't heated! We're so happy to be here until early January - it's nice to have a break from travelling 😁😃
Absolutely, a brilliant video. Thanks for it
That is so kind, thank you 🙏😃😀
