    According to her sister, Ludie Crawford, Tammi and a doctor, Dr. Ernest Garrett, fell in love the last few years of her life. They were technically engaged, although he soon realized her tumor was terminal. She and Marvin were like brother and sister, which is actually a better kind of relationship than a romantic relationship anyway. Even today, in 2022, these astrocytoma tumors have a very low survival rate. I agree that Tammi would have been a star had she lived. She was better than Mary Wells, Martha Reeves AND Diana Ross. Tammi was the whole package; strong vocal quality, charisma, personality, intelligence and beauty. In my opinion, the only Motown singer at the the time who was as strong or stronger than Tammi, was Gladys Knight. I wish there would be a major movie made about her. She should never be forgotten.

    • @michellekirkendall818
      @michellekirkendall818 2 года назад

      @lepoetress: The word "unsung" should be removed!
      Her first hit (on black radio) was "Come On And See Me" (1966). (I was in seventh grade). She was a powerhouse then.
      She teamed up with Marvin Gaye in 1967...nothing but SUCCESS!
      As a high school student at the time, me and others spent OUR 1.00 a piece to purchase records from the record store. We, black people, established these artists, they are dear to us.
      Unfortunately, illness ended a stellar career...unsung? By whose standards?
      Black people appreciated her greatness. What more do we need?

    • @lepoetress
      @lepoetress 2 года назад

      @@michellekirkendall818 I mean unsung as recognition. We fans know and love her, but most have no clue how amazing she was and who she was. When her name is mentioned, folks stare blankly and go, "Who?", which is sad. To an extent, she gets passed over for being a vocal power house and is rarely placed with Diana, Gladys or Pattie. That's the recognition she should get.

    Well done brother! Your narration was simple, plain but very compelling. I almost feel like your a relative of the Late Tammi Terrell. This hits home being from Philly myself. My mom always said she was from Philly and told me
    about her earlier career as Thomasina Montgomery. Such a great talent, her life was short lived but you would think she was around for decades with all of the great record she made with Marvin Gaye. One thing though Jerry Butler wasn’t a Philly Soul artist he was from Chicago and inspired by Sam Cooke. Honest mistake that a lot of people make…Jerry is confused with being from Philly because of the time he spent in the city being produced by Philly producers Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff. Lou Rawl also from Chicago was often mistaken to be from Philly with his Gamble & Huff association. Great job! Would love to see her story told on the big screen.

    The violents in this girl's life and what shocks me she was so young she was a teenager when she was going with James brown wear was the parents somethings don't make sense I believe she was murdered I mean somebody should of went to jail because it just don't make sense I think she would of lived longer if she stayed out of the music bizz a very talented smart girl but I don't know about happy I mean these men was way to old for her anyway that's why they picked her I think it's like this she was not met to stay in the music bizz and the men was picked for this girl because it just don't make because I heard video on Tammi Terrell and was people talking Tammi and the way people talk there's know simpathy I mean they talk to shady but the words they say she gave what she got what hell does that mean almost like she got what she deserved kinda talk
