Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

      I hope he will add more ammo for LAS 16 I just want to have fun I love the game from the beginning until the nerfs that made it not fun and I stopped playing and just constantly checking and hoping the add more ammo so I can start playing again and have fun like before

      I'm not so sure. We know pilested is willing to fight for the players when things piss us off enough but is this new guy going to do the same or is sony forcing the change in leadership to get someone that won't support the players.

    Just sounds like Johan wants to focus on the game and let someone else handle the business side now that they've grown and deal with Sony. Doesn't sound like he gave up any ownership with the change, so as an owner/founder, still has ability to also fire the CEO if necessary.

      New CEO has a record of dumpster fires. Seems like pile wants more involved with the game. But who knows, board saw he lost big money and that is all they care about. Despite him being one of the few to save the game during the sony psn crisis.

      @@geronimo5537idk if he saved the game. There’s still 180 countries that don’t have access to the game now. He also knew Sony was gonna push for the account setup. He does speak up for the community but that’s just a good marketing ploy to gather information and tell the players he agrees so they can figure out what needs to be done it keeps the pitchforks down

    The problem with the design philosophy of the balance team is simple. they are trying to have higher TTK to increase difficulty, problem is that also makes guns not just FEEL worse, but actually makes them bad.
    the problem wasn't "it's to easy to kill enemies," it was "I need more enemies to kill." Ironically enough the borked patrols and spawns would have not only been fine, but WELCOME had they just let the guns be powerful...
    not OP, like one-shotting a charger with a primary, but if my stratagems are on cooldown I should still be able to reliably 1v1 a charger with my primary.
    will I have to matador? yes. but I enjoy that.

      Honestly why I use the blitzer. It can easily kill chargers and any other heavy if you play matador. Doesn’t matter how many shots it takes because you don’t worry about ammo.

      Most of the whining in helldivers comes from people who can't actually play video games properly. They're just looking for fun not a challenge. It's really kind of sad

      Well it's also just a design flaw with the game currently and I'm hoping Johan jumping into the front lines again will help with this. You think about what happens as you jump in difficulty. You get more objectives, more enemies (variety), more enemies (numbers), and then they ended it all with, "Let's cripple the players with f*cking with their stratagems just short of completely taking them all away." Crippling the players to that extent should be the absolute last option. I mean look at the various Dark Souls challenges. They go to max difficulty and then self-impose nerfs to themselves like "No armor, no damage, no deaths, unarmed only" or whatever. It's only after you've done everything fair and feasible to the game that you start messing with the player. It's about 3.5~4 months after launch and they've already gone to the "maim the players" options for "difficulty" increases.

      @@joheric8886 That's fine for those players, that's why they have 9 difficulty settings. The problem, for them, is you have to go into the top 3 to continue to progress your unlocks, since super samples don't drop below that. I think if they could get a trickle of SS, say 1 per map in the middle tier bracket, a lot of those players would probably just stay in the middle tiers and not force themselves out of their comfort zones.
      Games are for everyone, not just those of us that are good at them.

    Pilestedt is one of the original founders and designers at Arrowhead, so he's a big part of why their games have been really fun. I think he bit off more than he could chew when HD2 popped off, and by the time he realized it the creative team had lost leadership and focus which put the game in its current state.
    I think his reengagement with the creative team in a direct leadership role is _exactly_ the right play to get things back on track.

    I remember Pilestedt tweeting about how his main thing is not running a business, but more getting hands-on with the design and programming aspects. I respect a guy who knows where his strengths and weaknesses are, and who is willing to acknowledge when he may not be the best person for a certain job. Good on him for taking the step to get someone in the CEO seat for the sake of the game, company, and player base alike.

      I mean, it's like how Hayao Miyazaki is a much better animator than a business CEO. A canary is a pretty pet, but it'll never compare to the beauty of one flying in the wild. Leave the bread baking to the bakers. So many idioms that just proves that people forced to play the bureaucracy game suffer instead of actually creating what they can.

    I want to use rec slips for something like color options on armor or weapon customization ( aesthetic only). Just something that doesnt effect gameplay but gives players incentive to grind so they can rock their own style.

    They need to do a community stream with devs playing and people there reading all the comments and taking notes and devs can test them live. That would be good to both watch and get info to improve quality of life for the game.

    I've done too many dives lately where we've lost all the kills we made because the game crashed, we lost players to disconnects, and more...
    SO MANY KILLS LOST. The goals are just too ambitious really...

    They are still setting major order targets as if we had the player counts from before all the countries were dropped. The combination of player count drops, weapon nerfs, enemy buffs, spawn rate issues with smaller or solo squads and persistent bugs are just beginning to overwhelm the game. I still play it, but gradually just less and less because it’s just not as fun anymore.

      Also there’s no incentive when the medal count is capped at 250. Most high level players get zero medals when completing orders

      ​@steelman6403 we've gotten a couple recently, and we'll probably get this one. The only reason we didn't get 2 bil bots was because 1/3 of the player base didn't want to touch bots. Which, if that's how they want to play, that's fine. It's not on AH to make the player community coordinate a war correctly. That's on the players.
      Besides, don't you want to defend Super Earth?

    I would love to see an exchange system for samples, maybe a 10 - 1 ratio? As in 10 greens = 1 orange, 10 orange = 1 purple. I prefer playing on lower tiers 4-5, I play solo. With my common samples, req points, and rare samples maxed there isn't much incentive to play beyond the fun factor. The game is fun, I play it for at least 2-3 operations a day. But if I could farm samples and exchange them, I would probably play more. The ratio could be bumped up to 10, 15, or even 20 to 1, as long as the system is there.

    I always play difficulty 7 with random queue. I think it's the most fun one with random other players, sometimes extremely easy when you have good random players and sometimes very difficult when you have complete noobs.

      The team does matter alot but not completely. Last night I was playing level 8 just to finally unlock 9 and the first game I had actually forgot it was level 8,felt like a level 4 maybe seen 3 hulks and that was near the end,next game I seen more hulks in the first two minutes and we had the same team. Sometimes it just fucks ya real hard

    As someone who has maxed resources, I think it would be a good idea if we could choose to spend a small fee of samples to pick from a list of "countermeasures". Each countermeasure would be a nullification to for the negative map effects like increased call in time and bug spores. The limits would be only one countermeasure can be chosen and only the team leader can choose pick it at the drop location screen but everyone has to pay the same amount to encourage collecting. As for the resource cost it should be low enough that you can replenish what was spent during the mission.

    Well, the devs have to account for 1400 Super Destroyers of the Death Korpse of Creek, that have been completely lost, from a fleet of 1500.
    Also, we're happy to have the 175th Anglican back, but we're still missing the 177th Irregulars and the 180th Nordic, so there's that.
    The next patch is critical, and pending that, HD2 is here for about one more month, before it sinks into a niche akin to Darktide.

      Pretty sure that's already happened. It's just a matter of how severe it'll be before the game improves enough to see us get meaningful reinforcements. My friends list is devoid of helldivers, including myself. The miracle that needs to happen soon isn't one I forsee occurring. The sheer amount of idiotic "balancing" combined with a lack of creative weapon mechanics, mission design, and shit armors are fatal wounds. It's like repairing a severed jugular. One tiny mistake and the patient becomes a vegetable. Take too long, certain death awaits. Even when repaired, it won't take much to reopen the wound.

      I think they could buff the Samples gained in missions a bit too. Some of those very large Bug Nests seem to have a low sample count, which is kind of strange.

      the game says Super Earth is capitalistic and it shows that we need req slips to get strategems and high level ship upgrades but that's about it, we need to dive more into capitalism by being able to trade req slips for other things

    Yesterday I played two matches putting up a total of a 1,000 kills I felt pumped up getting them numbers but it felt like small number due to the high major order

    I wouldn't mind for the enemy patrols to chill. I used to play difficulty 4 solo as my relax and have fun runs against the Automatons. Now I'm forced to use Meta equipment because in difficulty 4 I'll get 2 or 3 hulks waking the narrow canyons of Vernon Wells blocking my paths. Hulks used to be a primary kill objective at difficulty 4 and now they are a COMMON patrol spawn.

      I think they should revert patrols ONLY for solo. If I can still do a Helldive with 2 people, then we're good. But yeah, solo is borderline impossible.

    At this point, I feel it would be best if Medals and samples could be used to purchase in-game items like armor skins, weapon-skins, minor weapon upgrades, minor armor upgrades, etc. After completing warbonds and unlocking stratagems, samples and medals become kinda obsolete. Would be cool to see in-game currency/items utilized for more customization.

    The game does need some sort of resource sink, like upgraded ammo. 100 common samples for 3 missions with +10% primary weapon damage. 50 rare samples for +1 armor pen for 3 missions. You should be able to bank your ammo allocations and choose to use them on the missions you want.

    If they allowed for the trade of resource A for resource B that would be great as well. Even if it's 10000 Requisition for 1 Super Sample it would still give us reason to farm at all difficulty levels with friends as we could use rewards from those difficulties to get the ones we were hoping to farm even if it is at a "cost" for the up-purchase. I play a lot with younger family who simply cannot do anything past Difficulty 5 or 6 and I'd rather they didn't quit playing the game entirely as they've nothing left to purchase with what they can farm at their "skill level".

    The Sample store or Credits shop would be nice, with extra armors and capes similar to the super store, I'd say credits are on capes and samples are on new weapons and armors, to keep things more fair, it would also allow for community cape entries without cluttering the cape selection screen, as you could just buy the capes you want and leave the others out

    I hope they don't raise the caps on materials, or if so, only minorly. If they raise caps, it means new things have to be much more expensive to keep vet players from being able to instantly buy the thing (which they will anyways). I played Warframe, and I joined just a bit before Railjacks were introduced. The initial cost was exorbitant to give older players something to grind for, which they didn't because most resources don't have caps. Those who had the premium currency to skip the grind just immediately set off in their new ship, and those who didn't have (or didn't want to spend) the Platinum already had the resources, so it was just a timegate at that point. I, on the other hand, having only played for 6-7 months, had maybe 10-15% of the costs required. That's not including the costs for the Clan Dojo needed to be able to build one in the first place. Considering that Dojos are for clans (kinda in the name) those costs were also high as they were supposed to be for groups. I was effectively locked out of that content, and more, as the more new stuff was added, the more exorbitant money-sink costs were introduced to give vets something to grind for. So, I got to see all this new content being added that my friends were of course going to play as they'd become bored of playing the old content (some of which for years), while I was stuck doing the same old thing I'd been doing because I just hadn't done enough of it yet.
    If they raise the caps of resources to like 500 each, and requisition to like 100k, if they add, say three, new modules or stratagems, each one has to cost like 80-90% or the vets will be able to buy it all outright. If a veteran could buy all three outright, that doesn't really incentivize more play, and chances are some of those vets will then quickly complain there no more new content. If the new modules/stratagems have that increased cost, it means someone newer to the game has to grind for _much_ longer to get access to those things, along with all the other stuff they have to unlock. And if those new things are "necessary," like some anti-Illuminate tech that keeps you instantly exploding when setting foot on their planets, it now means that new Divers are locked out of a third of the game until they've grinded long enough (or paid one of those silly boost sites) to earn the "privilege" of playing a game they paid for.
    Now the anti-explosion tech is hyperbolic, I don't think AH would make a decision like that. I still think that raised caps are a potentially slippery slope with no real upsides. I could very well be wrong, and would love to see some reasons why raised caps would be a great and healthy addition to the game! (Aside from being able to buy added content faster, as that kinda sidesteps the whole play more mentality that progression systems are supposed to encourage.)

    This guy Shams guy is from Paradox and if I know Paradox, their studios milked the hell out of their games pumping dlc's after dlc's which, on a positive note, contributed to the growth of Paradox Interactive. The worst possible scenarios for Helldivers 2 now is the CEO removing the ability to farm Super Credit in-game for the maximum chance that people actually get to pay real money for the next warbonds and possibly keeping the next enemy faction/s behind a pay wall. We'll see how the new CEO grows the studio whose portfolio of games having a different flavor in them as far as milk-ability through dlc's is concerned.
    And as for Johan becoming a hands on part of the team again, let's just hope he continues on his ways of being transparent and staying true to his goal of being (kinda) pro-gamers with what they want to see and have for HD2.

      @@im3phirebird81 He means the trivial difficulty super credit farming on one random mission, you used to be able to close application on PS5 after finding a cache that gives 10-50-100 super credits and repeat that, farming. They stopped the frequency of finding super credits and exchanged them for more heavy weapons and rare samples

There has to be the right balance between playing often to find credits or purchasing some credits for a warbond. You get 30 per mission if you're thorough. Takes 33 missions to get enough credits for a warbond which should get you to around 17-18 hours playtime depending on skill and difficulty. And then there are still the armors on rotation in the shop but my friend said it right when he stated that there is no hurry. If you keep playing you will have most or all of them. If you want to have everything as fast as possible you will just end up with nothing left to obtain won't you?

    I think a big way to add more variety in late game difficulties is more variety in operation specific modifiers. Like D9 could be much more difficult if you do an operation with X modifier, or even multiple. This could increase skillcap for really good players, while also allowing for more fun for the less skilled ones.

    As someone who has been a close witness to both great and poor leadership styles in business, I really like what I’m seeing out of Arrowhead. Shit started going south and they are taking drastic measure to ensure a healthy future for the game.

    This probably was a direct result of the bit where Johan took feedback from us and said he would go talk to the dev team about it. As the company grew, the CEO position was probably the reason he sounded like he wasn't always on top of the direction the dev team was taking. Given that he's probably the most invested person in the creative direction of the game, his new post is probably a primarily personally motivated move (so that Helldivers 2 would be something he personally would be proud of) that he can sell to his board members. That he can then get a worthy stand in for the CEO post is probably him calling a personal favour and the week between the bit where we last heard from him and this news is just the paperwork going through.
    All in all, some excellent news from some dude who cared enough about his golden egg laying goose to "demote" himself to a more hands on role and calling a bro to do the stuff he used to do. I'd also wager that Arrowhead is just small enough of an outfit for a move like this to happen in a week's timeframe. Any bigger and the red tape would have taken months.

    Money/resource sink is so simple: very expensive ship paint costomization both interior and exterior, maybe additional idle crew in the ship. Pedestals/plaques for trophy heads, maybe a minute weapon effect (like reload 5% faster or 2% more damage) that is a RNG roll that is a pure credit sink.

    If patrols are overtuned for overwhelming us, then buff the weapons so we can better deal with their assaults. Tweak the enemies time to time to make events difficult when necessary but this nerfing weapons is exactly what is making swarm situations outrageous.

    My first thought is that the customers pushed back on Sony and make them look like a fool and then the CEO of Arrowhead "steps down"? Sony is a partner in the games development but they were made a fool and Johan admitted that he knew the the PSN link issues but prolonged it. So it makes me think that Sony made Johan step down as punishment for the whole debacle. Also remember that Sony still excludes the sale of HD2 in 177 countries. We cant fight and play together for controlled democracy if not everyone is "allowed" to play the game.

    6:45 what was just said prior to that.. The thing is, we all think different things are fun. I'd say that i find most of the enjoyment in HD in diff 7-9. 7 is my comfort zone, where i drop when i don't want to fight for my life, yet still don't want to fall asleep.
    9 is amazing though. Not because the prestige of beating the hardest difficulty, but because it can sometimes actually end in a loss. Sometimes even D9 feels fairly easy, but most games.. It's a challenge. It feels like an actual warzone and you can hear the adrenalin coursing through your veins while you're sweating in front of your computer. Love it.
    Suddenly boosting weapons by lowering TTK will need more difficulties, or simply just revamped difficulties. People has been shitting on the liberator penetrator for as long as i know, but it was my go-to for a long time in helldive.
    I really hope that they don't just lower TTK and leave it at that.

    Raising the cap makes sense to me.
    Let's say HD2 releases new stuff once a month. With a higher cap we can buy whatever is released right away and have a full month experimenting with it and gathering whatever will be needed for the next release and be ready again to buy and play with right away. Grinding/farming with the new stuff instead of for it.

    I'm kind of reading this in a couple ways from his post... Either A, he is retaining his position as founder/owner of the studio but allowing somebody else to fill the shoes of the political side of things, or B, he hired someone else to take the reins of the company and he stepped down to be more creatively focused and hands-on with the game. That being said, it could be a good or bad thing depending on what is said since he didn't elaborate any inside the post. If he is still the owner and still does have creative control to be able to terminate the CEO should they begin to take the studio in a direction he disagrees with, then that's a good thing and that will hopefully keep the CEO in check especially if they have to go through him before any major changes to the studio's visions and goals. If it's the ladder option though... It may very well mean the beginning of the end for AH as we've seen time and time again, as soon as the passionate surrender their positions at the top to let somebody more corporately driven drive the ship, the ship often sinks within 5-10 years

    From Launch to Erruptor drop I couldn't bring myself to not take light armor with 2 grenades because I needed that to be effective as the guy that typically runs off on his own to scavenge.
    When the erruptor dropped, I actually wanted to play more with the team so I would have cover as I worked out the best way to play the game with my new snipe abilities. Firstly I HAD to take explosive resistant armor to not just die every time I got overwhelmed. Then I had to actually learn how to use something other than the Quasar (which I ultimately ended up sticking with because not being able to deal with bile titans is trolling) to patch in the gaps I was losing out on not having a shotgun. And I was close to replacing my impact grenades with stuns when they just decided to add the shrapnel glitch to that resulted in too many instances of me one shotting myself.
    I genuinely doesn't make sense that they didn't just role back the Eruptor while they worked out a functioning nerf. The weapon went from a 1/2 shot to every enemy to being a joke with no place in the game for 0 reason. Combine that with the Quasar and Uzi nerf and they literally nerfed my entire loadout right when I was hitting my stride and playing long sessions, just like they did when they nerfed the Breaker and Rail gun while buffing enemies. The notion that I'll get hyped for a weapon only for it to be gutted before the next warbond drops is too much and with every weapon I would want to use not being as effective as it was last month combine with everyone I was playing with having moved on to other games I just sad.
    I really wish they would do a 1.4 Division 1 patch where they build the tools they need to put out effective patches and get the game in a state where they can build and test at the same time. There's no way the last 2 patches were QA'd by anyone playing the game.

    Also completely on board with you for the nerfing part. A big part of the community do not go in diff 9 and dont solo it also. Nerfing a gun because 0.01% of players use it to cruise diff 9 is not the way... make an impossible diff 10 for those to have more challenges

I'm waiting for the Warbond armors to get buffs against fire/explosions/snow and also I need a higher difficulty than Helldive...even in the current state it feels too easy and grinding for lvl 150 takes too long without it having any actual benefit. A 1000kg bomb and new stratagems in general would also be appreciated, I need more stuff to blow up.

    I feel that the biggest struggle in the game right now is that heroic moments just feel impossible to pull off, I love to fight the sheer number of enemies the game can throw at you on helldive but right now it feels like kiting is the only option for dealing with enemies, making a last stand to thin out numbers or grouping up and taking the fight nets you next to nothing yet jump packing away and taking the long way round never seems to fail, I boot up the game to spill oil not to play train simulator whilst my buddy is playing ddr on the objective

    I usually solo helldive missions when im bored.. I hate wasting time. I used to play missions and finish it in 20 minutes but the nerfs makes it harder and harder and makes each game take longer than before. now that Im close to max level all I do is join lower levels to help them out cause Im maxxed in everything. The only thing I need is xp and it's kinda getting tiring . If they uncap the medals maybe i would be more motivated to play it. It makes me feel like i have to wait for a new bond to just play cause each bond is 600 medals and its capped at 250 so i waste soo much medals playing when it's already full.

    If we increase the cap on currencies, then casual players will feel like they are being left behind when extreme players are able to unlock everything the second they drop. And that effect snowballs since those extreme players are then building up the currency sooner for the next drop. I think the way to appease both sides of this is to have something to continuously dump resources into. Something like small weapon upgrades or tweaks. Mabe a new sample that will let you adjust what your strategems do. They don't have to be upgrades, but rather side-grades to go with your personal preferences.

    My whole friend list has stopped playing this game cause Everytime we all find loadouts we like, the devs nerf the crap out of them. Tired of the fun being stripped from the game and then just doing the same stuff over and over again for no great rewards while using no unique armor. They need to add more armor stats to this game that makes sense!

      By "find loadouts we like" do you mean look up what's meta and use that? Because that's a definite way to keep getting your favorites nerfed

      There's only been the like 3 weapons nerfed but are still decent the breaker, the rail gun which was buffed again, and the quasar cannon which is still very usable

      ​@@lancefisher8358it's too late. Buffing guns to try to stifle the player base leakage. Need new enemy types, unique or atleast different armor, a cyberstan invasion etc....

    Great news, I would like to see cosmetic ship customization, not just adding the same thing to the ship as everyone else does when you upgrade it, give me Super Earth flags, dead bots with a flag pole through them, bug and bot trophies, a charger skin rug, custom weapon rack, a table to enjoy a cold one with your fellow helldivers after a stressful helldive

    all assisted reload capable support weapons are strong, it's just that almost no one wanna assist because everyone wants to be the one pulling the trigger.

      maybe it could be mutual, firing while reloading the other and vice versa, the ultimate carnage xD

      it's because no one wants to give up their AMMO to someone who may or may not actually be around when you NEED IT. It' not exactly rare for squads to get split up from huge hordes etc. PAeople would actually use team reload if they used YOUR ammo that YOU are wearing. Also, in most cases, the squad will have superior firepower output NOT doing team-reloads. At least, in my experience.

    This is a REALLY important move. Pilestedt needs to get his arms around the game, whose development has been all over the place and certainly not very cohesive. He does not need to be trying to convince Sony to make money and negotiate with Valve, much less run the hiring nonsense. So he hired a guy to do the latter so he can do the former. Seems like something that needed to happen a month ago.

    Well, good! Arrowhead made this game, right now they sure seem a little lost, but ultimately the talent is there, hopefully he'll be able to steer the ship back in course... Also I called it way back, them devs are not playing the game, this much is clear, otherwise they would know why rebalancing doesn't feel good...
    Yup, bullet sponges very rarely "feel" good to play against... If you look back, all games highly praised for their shooting are the ones that require some skills (accuracy/tactics/etc) but are also snappy and fast to dispatch... That combined w/ the right volume of enemies...
    And you know what would work better for Helldivers2? Rock/paper/scissors type of approach (kinda) and being able to 1-tap hunters, and while I don't mind needing a "special" weapon to deal w/ heavies (chargers/tanks/titans/etc) being able to not take a whole "work day" to kill them would be great! A bullet spongy enemy would be okay, again kinda, if were like a big boss (one of a kind type and whatnot)

    I usually play helldivers 2 on rank 7 or 8 I haven't had the confidence or the courage to play rank 9 yet as I'm still trying to get used to seven and eight then I'll make my way to 9 but it would be nice if we can get some of these weapon changes to make the game more fun

    From what I know Johan and the new CEO go way back, which means that there would probably be some kind of collaboration between the two for some time, which means that it is likely that unlike other cases where the company instantly goes down under the new leadership, we won't be affected by this change all that much and considering that Johan has some great ideas for fun thing to be added to helldivers2, his new position will benefit the community greatly, I think that the game is in good hands for the time being.

    I use the Lib Concussive. Its a support weapon. Aint gonna get a ton of kills, but i sure enjoy being able to control hordes to give teamates a chance to run away and reload. But then switch to machine gun to raise the kill count. I usually get 2nd or 3rd in kills as well.

    I tend to play at Rank 4, though our group will play rank 7 from time to time, it's just for the super samples. We play for fun, not for gear.
