    Hi Justin. I have an Imahashi machine. Bought it used a couple of years ago. I can't believe how exactly the same the Sterling machine is to the Imahashi. They copied it exactly.My hand piece does not have a cheater. By the way I really have enjoyed the programs that you and Vincent are doing together I am Vincent too..

    Very helpful video, as I have been experiencing some uneven girdle line on faceting the first side of my stones. Found out later that my trunnion axis was off because of a loose nut. I would be interested in knowing the procedure you where talking about to balance the feet of your hand piece. Thanks again.

    hi justin can you explaine or share your experiences about GERMANY production EDUS faceting head

    • @JustinKPrim
      @JustinKPrim  4 года назад

      Hello. I have not had good experience with the EDUS head. It looks amazing and has every feature but its extremely heavy and also poorly designed. Its quite easy for the head to get stuck when trying to cut the girdle because the metal piece of the back of the head hits the handle. Poor design. The later models called ALGE changed the design but lost some other features as well. For me its great as a collectible but not great to actually use. I recommend going with a sri lankan Handpiece if you're looking for one to buy. Its lighter, faster, and easier to use and easier to fine.

    I used both but facetors. The one with cheater is the best it save time. I have the 96 index one with cheater long time havent cut a stone on it but i am thinking to cut some rough stobes i have while we are in the lockdown here in London.

    Great video! I noticed they offer two types of cheaters: threaded and worm-wheel. Have you also tried the worm-wheel? Do you believe one has an advantage over the other? Thanks!!

    • @JustinKPrim
      @JustinKPrim  3 года назад +1

      I’ve only tried the type seen in this video. I haven’t seen the other one in person so I can’t say much about it but I’ve been using this one for over a year now and I really love it. It works well, very intuitive, and not too sensitive so it’s easy to rotate the stone a microscopic amount which is exactly what I want.

    Hi, Thanks for your informative videos. Just wondering what faceting machines can you recommend to someone who wants to start precision gem cutting, within the following budgets? Also is it necessary to start working on a more manual (old school) approach before you get to a more digitized machine?
    $100-$500, $500-$1500, $1500-5000. Thanks

    • @JustinKPrim

      Hello. Here is the list I recommend to all my students. There are a few small options for different budgets, but this is the list of things I use myself in my own studio, so it's not to meant to be a budget list, it just happens that my preferred list is budget friendly :)

    Excellent. I am strongly considering making an investment into a handpiece-style faceting machine asap. Of course, I have to find a buyer for my old Graves mast-type first.
    I know using a handpiece will be MUCH easier on my back and neck and it appears it can do as much as any mast-type faceting machine once one becomes competent with it.

      I would agree. I made the switch a few years ago and loved it. This past month I cut a few stones on a mast machine to test it and was like OOOHHH YEEAH this is why I stopped using this machine. I have a video planned soon that is Handpiece vs mast machine. royal rumble.

    • @JustinKPrim
      @JustinKPrim  3 года назад

      Most faceting machine companies don't have dealers. If you want to order from Sterling just go directly to the company. They can ship international, you can wire them directly bank to bank, and they can send you an invoice.

    Justin:
    Great presentation.
    I would like to add something to the feet vs cheater description. Cheater is great to compensate any error after stone transfer. HOWEVER when it comes to compensate a slight misalignment of a facet during polishing I use the feet for the simple reason that the cheater will give me different angle adjustment depending of the protractor angle. The closer the protractor angle is to zero the more I have to twist the cheater. At zero angle the cheater will not do a thing. With the feet I get a consistent angle adjustment.
    About the angle cross talk when using the feet, I am in the habit to turn both feet opposite to each other by the same amount. It might sound like a waste of time, but once you are in the habit it is very quick.
