"Jesus as the middleman." You talk to Him and ask His direction when things get tough in your relationship.... I love that. Thanks for sharing this, you two!
"...hoping that skype doesn't freeze up the five pixels on your screen" 😂 story of my life! I've been in a long distance relationship of 2800 miles away for 3 years and going strong. Great testimonial, very honest, you guys are awesome 😊
I dated my husband for 4 years, I'm from Paris and he's from CT! You guys were fortunate to see each other so often (even tho I know every 2 and a half month isn't THAT often!). Anyway, you guys are super cute ❤️
How do you go about initiating prayer with the person you're dating, especially in the beginning, when it might not be something you're both used to, or haven't done before in other relationships?
Thank you so much for making this video. I just finished a year of long distance with my boyfriend, who will now be attending the same college as me. Similarly to what you said, we both felt in the beginning that God had something special planned for the two of us, something that felt different from either of our past relationships. I didn't originally think i was cut out for long distance, but my boyfriend encouraged me to give it a shot, even though we had only been dating for 7 months. I'm so glad we did it, but there were times where it got VERY rough. We had never fought until doing long distance. We did become much better at communicating. What you said about "going with the flow of your schedule" to talk and "living your own life" was especially helpful to me because i had struggled with trying to keep control of when we would get the chance to talk, and it gave me a lot of anxiety. After going through a year of long distance, again i am so glad we did it, but I can safely say i hope to never do it again. However, my boyfriend recently took a trip to Europe, and got inspired by the idea of staying in Europe for a year to learn and train with professionals in mountaineering, skiing, and other cool stuff. The opportunity sounds amazing, but the thought of having to do more long distance also really freaked me out. For now he has decided to continue his first year in college, but may still decide to take a year off next year to live in the mountains in Europe. Hearing that you both made long distance across continents work has been HUGELY encouraging and i can't thank you enough. I wish i had found your video sooner, because i didn't have anyone to talk to about long distance and i had no guidance. We learned a lot on our own, but your video has been super reassuring, and if my boyfriend ends up being called to train in Europe for a year, i feel that it will be easier now for me to completely trust God and his plan. Thanks Emily and Daniel ♥️
Wow. Thank you Daniël and Emily for sharing your story! It is obvious that your relationship is built on a beautiful foundation of Christ-like love and service and of course, a close relationship with the One who brought you together. Daniël, I love your concept of Jesus as the "middle man" in a relationship... Spot on! Thank you again for sharing and know how very much I look up to you both in my own journey as a young woman discerning for marriage.
you know you know you know haha, you guys are the first couple I see on youtube that actually can be called catholics, putting God in the center of your life and telling others the great things that it brought you is amazing, thanks and good luck!
When you said in another video that it felt like forever I imagined 6 years or something. My husband and I did this for 4 yrs. Im glad it didn't have to be so long for you! I was in the UK, he was in the US. Long distance can really suck but I think it strengthens a couple if they can stick it through.
Being in a long-distance relationship is easily one of the most challenging and emotionally draining kinds of relationship but when it works, you are faithful and devoted to one person and have unforgettable reunions, heartbreaking goodbyes and exciting mini-adventures made along the way.
I'm not really religious but thank you...I have been with my military boyfriend for a year now and just knowing that other people have gone threw long distance gives me more hope :)
Hi Emily and Daniel! I bumped into your videos first time today! I had similar story to yours! I was in a long distance relationship with my husband! He was living in the Netherlands and me in Croatia! FOR 3 YEARS! we were both studying. Two times we didn't see each other for 6 months! we are almost 6 years together now, and married for little over a year :-) I moved to Holland! we had ups and down! but it's possible, with love and little faith anything is possible!
Thank you so much! I am currently in a LDR and this video has helped me so much! Will definitely keep prayer as the center of my relationship & be humble (plus the many great tips you two gave). Thank you so much! God bless you two❤😁👌
hi Emily! So I was wondering what you think about veiling/head coverings. I've been wanting to wear one for years but I'm afraid of what people will say and comment about me wearing it. I don't want to try and make myself look holier than anyone else but I really like the meaning behind it. How do I work up the courage to do it?
Chikis hey! I'm not Emily but I have a friend who wears veils for mass. It's rather traditional, my friends 22 if that helps. She doesn't really care what people think; it's to please God not others. Now, regarding others judging you, remember the "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." :)
Hi Chikis! There are LOTS of groups on instagram and Facebook of women who wear veils and head covers. Check them out and I'm sure there are many women there who would love to chat with you about it!

Daniel's English is very, very good. I mean, everyone in Holland speaks English. But still...
