I was 14 in 1993 when I first discovered techno music with 2 Unlimited. Electronic music was virtually unknown in the US back then. I remember I did my school paper on them and on Techno music in general for music class in high school, and had to read it in front of the whole class and brought in this tape for a sort of show and tell...Needless to say, my topic wasn't very popular then amongst my classmates...But even back then, I knew it would catch up soon enough...I turned out to be right 😉
Yeah it was big in NYC but in my hometown 80 miles a way, it might as well have been the 60s. I still hid most of my music from the 80s because people made fun of it
