Anybody who wasn't born yet, you have no idea how big this jam was in the 90's. Every basketball game, hockey game, football game, and MTV, and watching at home cable. This was everywhere. It was by far the biggest dance song there was.
I was born in 1992 just a year after this song was released and yes I miss MTV, it was my go to channel on saturday mornings. I used to make my cereal and watch dance videos like this every weekend when i was a kid. We indeed have only cable and everything was manual powered back then nothing like these kids today with social media and smartphones, now it made so easy

I am proud of the music from my Netherlands. I will become 48 years old this year in 2024 and if i could turn back the time, I would like to go back and stay in the 90's, the best decade of my life. during the beginning of the 90s this music was very popular, it was a frequent combination of rap and electronic music... we used to call it "dance" or "eurodance" because most of the groups were europeans... and people used to dance similar to what today is called shuffle the term rap it was also used during some time, because there were many dance groups adapting hiphop steps into it

I was in Eastern Europe when this song came out. It was playing at full blast in every club. It seemed to encapsulate the mood of the time: everyone associated it with newfound liberties, a sense of waking up from history, a long-sought connection to the international club/hiphop scene, optimism, new beginnings, a whole new open world. Seems kinda embarrassingly premature now.

There were SNAP, Black Machine, CNC music factory and many others. I would say SNAP who first popularize this genre worldwide in the late 80s. I'm guessing the beat came first in europe.

during the beginning of the 90s this music was very popular, it was a frequent combination of rap and
electronic music... we used to call it "dance" or "eurodance" because most of the groups were europeans... and people used to dance similar to what today is called shuffle
the term rap it was also used during some time, because there were many dance groups adapting hiphop steps into it
But funny thing about „Euro“dance - most of the rappers and singers were black (so actually not European originally).. xD

Hence why it was premature of them to think that things were, from then on, gonna be rainbow and sunshine forever and ever.

I see you havent yet heard about Hip-House scene, most of it never went beyond underground, but there were few exceptions like Hit House or Snap, who made succesfull bangers like one or two years before 2Unlimited.
