awesome videó's mate, I need to start creating content for my new brand and I find that the quality of your content is humanguos. Thanks for all the trouble you went trough to be able to share this with us noobs! I see lots of people making money with poor quality content, so I thought I have to do something better creating my content. In my search i came across your channel. This channel is exactly what a noob needs top be educated. I didn't evenb know all the setting of my IP14PM till I saw these video's. Bought a lot of gear as sugested. For people on a budget like me, there are tons of people selling there new gear for 1/3 of the price brand new because they thought they would be content creators, save the plannet take it of their hands. Doing something new and creative comes with an obligation to just start doing the stuf you need to do to be succesfull with it. Practice is free but for your time! Simon thanks again this is so helpfull.
I agree with sticking to 8bit colour. Only pixel peepers like us will notice a difference, and even then, we have to look really hard, comparing the two side by side to see a difference.
iPhones are hopeless for syncing sound to the film. If you record a half hour film after about 7 or 8 minutes the audio is out of sync with the video. So in Final Cut Pro you have to make about 3 cuts and drag the audio across to re sync it.
I have iphone 14 pro and to be honest photos taken from iphone looks like Mobile phone photos it Really cannot replace a professional camera 😂. I need a pocket point and shoot camera like g7x 3
Hi Simon, Its been a while since your last "best smartphone for vlogging". Do you think IPhone is still the best? Or did Samsung beat iPhone with the S series?
Awesome video. I have a question. I want to shoot a short film totally in Cinematic mode. Since the phone controls the shutter speed, do you recommend adding motion blur in post once all is said and done or does it not need it. Also, could you do a video comparing the log of Filmic Pro, CinemaP3, Protake and maybe Beastgrip?
You can simply use an ND filter and you will get extra motion blur. Regarding log, I think you'd be better off using Dolby Vision instead, which gives you 10-bit colour, much better than log (IMO) then you also have the choice of exporting SDR or HDR.
That Freewell mount looks great. I've had a couple of others & currently using a Ulanzi. And the Freewell case/filter combo looks good. Oh dear. More spending!!!
Simon love what you do, I'm a fan. And... can you lock exposure on the iPhone 14 pro? I think you did a video on these exposure changes but I cannot find it. Look forward to your response 😀
@@SiHorrocks Thanks Simon I will have a look now, plus you did another indoors showing the change from windows to wall and talked about the compensation the phone did and how to get around it. Watching the link now. Sorry to bomb you with questions.
This is just amazing content, thank you so much for this! I have one question though, I have Iphone 14 (not pro or pro max), can I still use Anamorphic lenses in it or extra ND filters. I am planning to shoot a short film very soon using my Iphone 14.
As far as I know, the iPhone 14 cameras are the same as the iPhone 13 Pro. I believe anamorphic lenses will work. You might experience some vignetting, but you can crop in a bit to remove it
Quick question, when shooting anamorphic using native cinematic mode how would you desqueeze the video? In iMovie? Which app would u recommend if its possible to do that?
Why photos and videos from iphone almost always have strange colours on buildings (yellowish, greenish) and people faces are orange/yellow with unnatural shadows?
Simon, I’ve been struggling with parts of outdoor videos being too bright. I use filmic pro on iPhone 14 pro max. Should I reduce shutter speed in filmic pro or use an ND filter? And will ND filters require me to remove my outerbox commutter case?
I'm going to be honest. The editing seems very confusing. I just purchased a gimbal for my I phone 14. I know there will be a learning curve, but I feel lost. Want to make some travel videos and have some fun and not get stressed out.
Hi Simon, I really love your videos. Very high quality and I like your explanation-voice. Regarding the Freewell iPhone 14 Pro case: I was wondering can I use the sticks and everyhting also without the hardcase where you put first the Iphone 14 Pro in? As I have a setup with a Rode Video Mic Me L and there I need a direct connection to the Lightning port of the phone and it just works without a case. Is the Grip and stick also available for 14 pro max/ big enough? And did you try out to use this setup also with the Rode Wireless Go II as there is a cold shoe mount for the receiver, it would be a great option :-) Thx in advance, Simon! All the best, Kristina

this is epic SImon! Taught me so much and I'll be testing these with some of my adventure videography, as I"m very new to videography
i use the Moment app, works well and as good as filmic pro
You are the most informative I’ve come across on youtube.Im glad i came across your channel.

thank you Bob 🙏🏼
This is absolutely brilliant, I can’t believe how much stuff I have learned watching this. Thanks.

Great! Thanks for video. You're Bob Ross of filmaking 😊
Another winner from Simon! Cinematic Mode explained succinctly! Thanks 🙏
My pleasure!
Great video thanks so much. Been shooting for years and about to switch over from mirrorless to Iphone. This was amazing.

Thank you so much for the video . Maybe you know will ulanzi lenses fit on freewell case ? Really don’t like ulanzi’s case .

Excellent as usual
Interesting. Wood Green has changed quite a lot since I was last there haha!

Hi Simon, Its been a while since your last "best smartphone for vlogging". Do you think IPhone is still the best? Or did Samsung beat iPhone with the S series?
I haven't tried the S23 range but I do believe that the iPhone 14 Pro (max) just edges it for vlogging
@@SiHorrocks thanks for the answer. Do you plan on doing that best vlogging smartphone video for 2023 anytime soon?
Great video 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Are the Freewell filters stackable?
Can i use the vnd 1-5 stops with the CPL fliter and the mist filter?
Great information Simon, thanks for sharing.

I would check if other filters can be used with the Freewell Sherpa. As far as I can see you can only use Freewell filters.
@@smithfamilyadventures1972 It all looks a bit pricey for my occasional use.

Very good Simon 👍🏻 I try to make good iPhone 14 pro max videos 😅
Brilliant! Thank you so much
Can you simply lower the ISO when filming 24fps 1/48 shutter to keep the picture from being over exposed? thank you
depends on the light. In daylight you won't be able to get the ISO low enough at the same time as keeping a slow shutter
15:05 is it me or natural dof with the filter is somehow enhance?
Do you know if the Freewill case works with moment lens?
Probably should have watched this earlier today. :)

Reduce the height to 64%
one question it is bugging me from last days if i shoot on iphone can the videos be color graded preciously

Just increase the Shutterspeed but if you want natural motion blur then use a ND filter.
Sir second view here 👋
sir plzz ask me how you add this text motion graphics.

How do you frame or view the anamorphic on cinematic mode
You can't see it in 1.55 until you desqueeze it later. You have picture it
@@SiHorrocks can i de squeeze in lumafusion and what setting?
@@sergioknuf I worked it out as 64% height. This may help: momofilmfest.com/de-squeeze-anamorphic-for-iphone-or-android/

I don't like how the iPhone looks. It feels like the 10bit recording is 9 bit in its small difference
