I just finished watching HIMYM for the first time. Ted was always just so obnoxiously desperate, as opposed to Barney's hilarious desperation. Ted was so indecisive about Robin, that he ruined Robin and Barney's marriage, because he was always in Robin's subconscious. Not only that, but he ruined the perfect ending: Lily's. Barney and Robin, Ted and Tracy, Lily and Marshall sitting together on a porch, laughing their final days away together. Instead, Barney's character arch is destroyed by Robin, Ted never really has any progression; he never learns from his mistakes, while Lily and Marshall get the family they wanted, but not the friends they wanted. In a way, HIMYM was about everyone else in the friend group, rather than Ted, who destroyed 9 seasons of some of the funniest TV I've ever seen. Tracy also didn't get the arch that she deserved. I know that I'm being very, very critical, but I did truly love this show.

Marshall and any person in the group are better friends than any 2 people that aren't marshall...
There are soo many scenes that prove you right but one of my favorites is “My Blitzy lies over the ocean” song
