  • Hey you guys, Chet the Dream Poet here. Come anchor down for another vlog today as we explore Lake McKamey, a man-made lake that was created between the late 1930s and early 1940s by the Conservation Corps of America as a recreational lake. It's time to see what secrets the lake holds! Remember, make sure to Like, Subscribe & Share!
(WIND ADVISORY: Throughout this video you will hear a lot of wind. The lake sits on top of a mountain and the weather can sometimes be unpredictable.)

Dad and I participated in a fish count for a Detroit area lake that was drained years back for repairs being done to the dam. The variety and size of the fish amazed most of the volunteers. Master Angler bass, carp, crappie, bluegill, and even rainbow and brown trout. We suspect the trout were from years of a kids day stocking program miles upstream.

Man if they lived in there longer than a year they should’ve looked into doing it more often could’ve released some wild trout in there and years down the road have a natural trout population they don’t live in many areas longer then a season or 2 the heat kills them off by mid summer most of the time

@@andrediaz6205 It was a polluted warm lake that wasn’t more than 15’ deep, that’s why finding the trout was so surprising.

It was last drained for maintenance back in early 1990's i forget the exact year. Those poles with the concrete on the bottom was part of the markers for the swim area. The max depth for the swim area is between 5 and 6 feet
