5 Blade Razor Why I switched to a Safety Razor

  • I am reviewing a DISPOSABLE RAZOR big flex five hybrid razor compared to a traditional wet shave with a double edge razor. This disposable razor has five blades on the face of the cartridge. I had a hard time getting through a three day growth of hair on my face. The first pass was tugging and pulling on my face creating razor burn. This is why I have switched to a safety razor or better known as a double edge razor. After shaving with this disposable razor I will be heading back to my Merkur 34c double edge razor. With a safety razor I do not have razor bumps or burn all over my face. After I finish shaving 15 minutes later my neck broke out with razor burn and I can see some ingrown hairs.

The redness and irritation of the skin after shaving is commonly known as razor burn or razor bumps. The burning and itchy skin irritations are caused by the removal of the upper skin layers during shaving. The injured skin is no longer able to defend itself against harmful influences and becomes sore. By using a cartridge razor, you support this harmful behavior. With every stroke of the multiple blades of a system razor, you also stress your skin tremendously. That’s a quick way to guarantee painful razor burn! That is precisely where the safety razor begins to shine: The safety razor works with a single, very sharp blade. So you only stress your skin once with each pull and not several times. So even if you conduct a shave with the grain or against and across the grain, your skin will still be less stressed than with a single stroke of your cartridge razor. This way, you protect your skin and avoid razor bumps.
Ingrown hair and pimples can have many causes. An infection of the hair follicle is often caused by shaving. To avoid this, you should make sure that you prepare and follow up your shave well. However, your choice of razor is the main factor in all of this. The spaces between the blades of your cartridge razor are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Every time you shave, you increase the risk of a skin infection caused by your cartridge razor. In addition, cartridge blades are often used for several weeks for cost reasons - this exposes you and your skin to an even higher risk of skin irritation. All these problems can easily be avoided with a safety razor. The quick blade change ensures that you always work with a new and hygienic razor blade. Moreover, the fact that you can let the sharp blade glide over your skin entirely without pressure makes it particularly kind to your sensitive skin.

Ended up with 3 ingrow hairs on my face. They turn into a zit that when squeezed the hair is pushed out of your skin.

I find using a sensitive skin shave gel to be better when using a cartridge razor. No irritation at all.

Maybe the alum block Gives you ingrown hairs+ zits?
After putting an alum block on the face should not wash it off after 20 seconds?

You’d think the moisturizing strip would be on the bottom of a cartridge razor instead of the top, leading into the blades so it would actually do something for the shave.

My favorite is BIC EasyRinse Anti-Clogging, Refillable Men's Razors With 4 Blades, 1 Handle and 3 Refill Razor Cartridges Razor Kit it works just like bigger brands bic done it this time ot was a matter of time that razor now can compete with the big guys i thought it was going to be just like any bic razors but is not thumbs up 👍

I can go two weeks without shavng and my Gillette ProShield still gives me the closest & most comfortable shave I've ever had. I never get cuts or razor burn. I own the Bic 5 too and it works okay, but not nearly as good as the Gillette ProShield. The worst cartridge razors I've used are the Dollar Shave Club & Schick Extreme 3.

I don't usually comment on videos since I like watching videos in the background while I do stuff. I remember giving my Dollar Shave club cartridge razor one last chance to see if DE shaving was better since my Van Der Hagen DE razor showed mixed results; the first stroke with the DSC razor tugged and pulled my beard hair, and I instantly it put down, and I just told my self never again and bought a King C Gillette DE razor a few weeks later which gave me way better results then DSC and VDH. Anyways, great video.

I commend you so much for giving the cartridge a try. I got so nervous when I saw the thumbnail. Kudos to you for being fair and considerate. I still struggle when I use electric razors. I can’t get the same results like most people can. How do you think a cartridge would work on your head? I notice cartridges cut my hair thin hair well, but Safety Razors can cut my coarsest hair. Watching your technique has helped me get better after every use. Safety is king, but do you think we’ll ever have use for Cartridge razors anymore?
-Much respect for your videos as always, man. 👊

think i was somewhat happy with my bic black razor, or maybe another black razor.
but local stores only really sell refillable blades for gillette, and the cheaper mach3 didn't work for fusion, so i ordered safety razors from the internet instead.

@@OhioShaves oh yeah sensitive skin and irritation especially around my neck not so much anymore though. Those Henson razors are really good, and most of the time I feel like I’m not going to cut myself unless if I apply a shit load of pressure, but most of the time with that angle I get mostly good shaves out of it

I get skin irritation from disposable razors. They’re not sharp enough for my coarse beard and I can never go against the grain. I can’t say by switching to a safety razor I get a much better shave and no irritation. My face has cleaned up tremendously thanks to switching to a safety razor

I could never attempt to shave my upper lip the BIC blades were certainly cut my lip no matter i won't give BIC anotehr penny and have given up giving them any more chances.
Now if i am not feeling cheap and want to buy the really good blades then yeah the very expensive Gillette blades are really good but to be honest the cost difference from the no name and Gillette still wouldn't warrant me buying Gillette albeit i am not saying the Gillette blades are bad because the yare very good just a lot more costly.

The funny thing is that if Bic's blades were at least mildly decent i might have ended up still using them but they were so bad it forced me to use a no name brand which ends up being a win win.
Bottom line is that when your a giant business and your multiple blades 3/4/5 whatever one you try are INFERIOR to a no name brand 2 blade razor you are a really garbage brand and that is how i now label BIC a "garbage" brand".
I wanted to add that yeah i am not stupid i have been around a long time i considered the possibility the blades from the stores i was buying them were frauds but no because i have tried most fo the blades at least 2-3x so i gave them multiple chances and always the exact same blade.
