    Thanks mate, good review, appreciated that you did that even though you were tired. Would you say that these are good value for £4.00 when on offer and any more better a shave than a Bic Flex 3 or Flex 4 would you say?

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  5 лет назад +1

      They are very good value compared to many. Better than fusion, but at moment Lidl are doing 4 pack of GT5 blades for only 2.99 so that's the best value so far.
      As for buying these over flex 3 comfort. For me I most likely would not, I like my smaller headed razors, and perhaps why I like the 3 blades and the GT5.

    • @raymondmain3796
      @raymondmain3796 5 лет назад

      @@GeekOfShaves Yes I like the GT5 at Lidl and as you say blade refills priced at £2.99 rather than previously at £3.79 for Harry's although even at £3.79 would still be good value. I am using a Mach 3 Turbo but hate it, just using. It up as previously bought the 10 pack refill for £14.00 at Asda when promoted recently but never again as doesn't shave neck smooth like the GT5. I think that Aldi's new. Razor when on offer may come down to £2.99 rather that £3.79 at present(to compete with Lidl's) and and refills down to £3.79 for pack of four rather than £4.99 as at present?

      would you say that bic's 3 bladed flex version (which you have reviewed few months ago) are of comparable quality with mach 3, in terms of closeness of shave as well as blades' longevity (how many shaves one can get out of them)?

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  5 лет назад +2

      @@simongrushka983 I actually prefer them, I am not sure but I think the Mach 3 has gone downhill somehow, not sure if they have changed the formula / design somehow, but I have noticed the metal banding that holds the blades in are positioned differently these days (which means a design change).
      As for how long they last, as long as you do not worry about the lube strip I can get a month out of one cartridge (head shaves as well) especially if I stop the blades. When I am reviewing though I don't get the chance to make them last as long as I could as a new razor is needed to be reviewed lol.

    After Gillette's disastrous toxic masculinity advert in January, I switched to Bic and found the Flex 4 gave a much better shave for a lot less than my old Gillette Mach3. If you dry the blades immediately after use and replace the cover you will get several shaves from each one.

  • @tomwright5822
    @tomwright5822 3 года назад

    Do you think the microfins are too hard and not nearly enough to give a comfortable shave? I used the bic flex 3 and flex 5 an every time it just tugged an felt like it ripped out the hair rather than smoothly cut them. The Mach 3 microfins are very soft and have a lot more than a cheap bic flex razor

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  3 года назад

      BIC seem to have different models that are similar in name, but certainly different in performance.
      The ones I like are the BIC flex COMFORT and not BIC flex.
      There are others as well that I find are good.
      I like the Personna / Edgewell Calibre 3 and 5 blades as well.
      Also the Dorco blades are pretty good and they dont use the flex suspension

    • @tomwright5822
      @tomwright5822 3 года назад

      I agree with you, I just think that bic could improve the flex line with a better skin buffer to stretch the skin more comfortably. As for dorco the pace 6 gives a very close shave much better than Gillette

    The disposable pack (3 handles and carts) currently half price @ £2.99 in Boots larger outlets.
    I'm told smaller stores will order in, pay in advance, for next day (usually afternoon) collection.
    Great way to replenish blades for the regular pack handle - only drawback is unwanted handles contribute to the plastic waste mountain.

    • @maconescotland8996
      @maconescotland8996 5 лет назад

      Replacement blades for the newer BIC Shave Club handle will fit a Mach 3 handle - however I understand Mach 3 cartridges will NOT work with the BIC handle. Some type of adaptor allows one way only compatibility.
      If anybody can confirm, or refute, I'd be very grateful - maybe it's only the Edgewell version of the Mach 3 cartridge that's incompatible ?
      The BIC Flex 5 packaged handle which comes with replacement cartridges (only available in the USA ?) looks very much like the newer handle as sent by the BIC Shave Club - and also this disposable Flex 5 reviewed here.
