    Thank you for your amazing vlog (love them all)! And thank you for mentioning the architect Jan Letzel, I've been doing a bit of a deep dive on his story and it is quite heartbreaking - he had designed many buildings in the Tokyo area just to find them all destroyed by the great earthquake couple years later (when he travelled back to Japan after feeling very disconnected and misunderstood in his motherland and longing for life in Japan - I'd almost call that relatable x). He even adopted a daughter in Japan, who later abandoned him after accompanying him on a trip to USA. So I guess the last piece of his work in Japan becoming this great symbol is just as bittersweet as his life!

      Oh wow I had no idea of the full story - thanks so much for sharing! You’re right - his final legacy is extremely lasting. Thanks so much again!

    I was there a few years ago, but I didn't get to walk to the torri gate and we didn't want to wait until evening for low tides.

      Me too! We had to move on - but we wanted to see it over water so I was happy with that. I would love to go back though, it was a great place!!!

    Hiroshima seems really cool, I wasn't able to visit when I was in Japan but this winter I'll definitely have to check it out. My gf is from Kanagawa so I mainly stayed around there and Tokyo. Anyways I really enjoyed this video and your editing =]

      Thanks SamuraiJeff! I was surprise how much I loved Hiroshima - I knew it would be good but I was amazed at how great it was. I need to go to Kanagawa actually - I haven't done that yet!

    You mentioned a few times the places on Miyajima that sell oysters. Hiroshima is famous for oysters. At 2:47, those are the floating oyster beds.

      +coconutpanda ah I should have realised! We didn't know what they were, we thought maybe they were for farming seaweed. Thanks for letting us know!!! That solved a mystery ;)

      Yes we were so impressed with Hiroshima! I loved the city and the Island was wonderful. Travelling around Japan is just amazing. You must get to see it often if your wife is from there? So lucky!

    When Liam read about the rice scoop I thought he said "moss scoop". I was getting really excited for us (you and me, we both love moss) thinking there was some super moss coming up at the shrine. XD

    Beautiful video. Im planning on going to Miyajima in May. Very informative! Just one thing: It is rude to point in Japan, even if you are pointing at objects. instead of pointing you would use your entire hand to show objects or point them out, but not with your index finger.
    Anyway thanks for the great content!!

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  5 лет назад

      Thanks so much!!!! I wouldn’t point at people in Japan but I find pointing at objects is completely fine! I do that a lot for pointing at food I want!!! :D

      Hi Vicky! We stayed in Hiroshima the night before and then went early to Miyajima (8ish). We took a bullet train that evening somewhere else I believe - it was a great day but very tiring!!!
