Correct. The bigs in the 80's and 90's did not have the sophistication in their face up game they way they do today. However, the level of skill in the back to basket post up game was far superior to what we see on display today.
Naz reid is literally the same size as most of the great bigs from back in the day not named kareem or wilt. George Mikan, was 6’9-6’10 had a bag and was beating all time greats. Wes unseld, bob mcadoo etc. there are a lot. Their post, back to the basket and midrange game I’d argue is better than naz reid.

They did but what gets confused today is the hand checking before you were allowed to touch a person and stop their progress. Also in today's game they rely heavily on analytics which tell everyone to shoot threes because of the averages which also gives more possessions because of misses.

The game hasn't evolved. The difference is. You can't use the old defense. They wouldn't be doing half of that fancy stuff because the old defense would prevent it. The lack of defense has allowed more mobility. Which gives the illusion of evolved.
This is the clutch sports era, this is where they brainwash the youth to think Jordan was not as good as we think he was and the competition was weak. Because they can't live up to the standards so they change the qualifications on what actually makes a player good.

What cracks me up is how people can think any sort of competition can regress. In any competition, the best of the newer generation will ALWAYS be better than the previous generation. Anyone who says otherwise is coping.

its not even the same game, last night i was up til 3am and i watched 65 lakers vs celtics, 96 bulls vs pistons reg season, 2024 thunder vs mavs, 01 lakers vs kings game 1 and 2006 cavs vs heat young wade and bron taking notes, took me almost 7 hours... i literally was reading at the same time about how the game has changed and its not even the same game, its still has the same name but its literally an entire different game, they just use a court and a ball but the ball isnt the same weight, the 3pt line keeps changing, certain dribble moves were illegal at certain times, the rules keep changing and what is illegal in one era is legal in another, theirs no way their can be a Goat, whole defenses and offenses werent allowed at certain times ... we dont know who does well in what era and with what rules... in 96 the bulls were the #1 3pt shooting team in the nba, they were chucking up hella 3's like a modern team, i had no clue they played like that alot, in 65 the speed was rediculous but the ball handle was ultra trash, imagine they had ball handle trainers, bill russle was a center and he was bringing the ball up EVERY play.. i hear so much lies about older nba and all people gotta do is watch full games and it opens up a whole new perspective..
