    Great explanation. Way too much hassle for me (I have enough trouble remembering the front hand brake vs bicycle.) Thank you. Aloha

    Thanks Andy, enjoyed your up beat attitude,guys like you give me a bit of hope. I have owned many bikes in my life, last on was an electra glide I sold about twenty plus yrs. ago due to growing family and business.Well I made a stupid mistake and told the DMV to take my endorsement off my licence. Big mistake. My son now 35 has a Harley and I decided I would like to give it a go again. I bought a low mile 48 sportster and at 65 with arthritis and a couple of heart attacks under my belt, I am not in the best shape and trying to start over again, well I aint twenty any more and have to go through all the tests, a lot of which we didn't even have when I was a kid. But guys like you make me smile and give me back the can do attitude. Thanks.

      Michael, Thanks man and look into the Motorcycle training classes I just to the beginner's class again to sort of "renew my vows." When you take the class, if you pass, you get your motorcycle endorsement and don't have to take the test at the DMV (at least that's how it is in Hawai‘i) plus you get a discount on your insurance. Follow me me on Instagram or Facebook (@andybumati) I'm on the road and posting videos along the way. Thanks for watching and have fun with that 48. I think that such cool bike.

    This was very helpful Andy. I haven't really been able to ride my 1965 U5 Yamaha scooter (auto clutch) much. I think I want to make a jockey shifter. It is hard to find neutral with my foot. I think I may need to bend the shifter back. I found a new shifter part for ten buck to sacrifice and weld on my jockey shifter. Any ideas?

    • @AndyBumataiShow
      @AndyBumataiShow  5 лет назад +1

      Stan, Sorry man, but if you're talk about a mod on the '65 Yamaha I have no idea how help you. I know zip about that bike or auto clutches. My suggestion would be to go to custom shop/machine shop with as good a drawing of what you'd like to see and get a quote doing it for you or making you the parts you need. I'm assuming you don't have the machines to make those parts yourself. Also, look at the linkage on the old tank shift Harley. That may be close to what you're looking for. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

      @@AndyBumataiShow It's cool and very original. Very similar to a Honda Cub, but it's a two stroke three speed. The getting to back neutral advice you gave is exactly the issue I was having, so I kept stalling. The clutch is centrifugal, so not the complicated operation you demonstrated with your bike. I plan on hitting the junkyard for an auto shifter rod. I have had no trouble getting parts for this thing, and they aren't expensive. It's a very cheap ride now...I maybe spent a total of 1000, but it is way bitchin, obnoxious red orange, has a chain, not a belt. Way better than a new plastic scooter.

    Thanks for the video Andy. I am learning more about motorcycles from you every day. Would you consider doing a video about why Polaris is discontinuing production of the Victory line and what you think about that. Thanks!

      What?! Polaris is discontinuing Victory? This is the first I've heard of this. Let me look into it. Thanks.

      Andy Bumatai A motovloger in MN posted a video about it. He said that Polaris stated they want to focus on the Indian line instead. Thanks for looking into it.

    I had a '46 UL Harley flathead with an over center , heel/toe rocker type clutch. It wasn't bad at all, especially if you had to stop making a slow turn like at a left turn traffic light. You'd push down with your toe and it would stay released. Then you'd rock your foot back and the clutch engaged smoothly.

      We called that a mouse trap. Extra safety but slightly more complicated to apply to a bare bone bobber/chopper. I like the look of a mouse trop but it's not my cup tea to ride. Again, personal taste, but I really like the simplicity and skill it takes to ride the set up in this video. Thanks for watching.

      Been riding/building choppers since the 70's and never heard a stock rocker clutch called a mousetrap. mousetrap is the nickname for what HD called the Hand Clutch Booster. It gave your left hand enough power to operate the clutch. They came out in 52 for the FLF models. Second F stood for foot shift.

    I think you would have to have your wits about you, I thought when I got my 1st Harley a few months ago that I would have problems with the heel toe set up for hear change but once I was aware of having to do it , it came naturally. Not sure if I would adapt to the jockey shift ad easily. All the best 👍😎

    so what does left hand do on a suicide clutch motorcycle... been wondering for a long time (saw a guy twisting the left hand while shifting into gear on an indian motorcycle) :/
    and the brakes in these machines are similar to usual motorcycles ? right hand front brake and right leg rear brake ... ??

    • @AndyBumataiShow
      @AndyBumataiShow  7 лет назад +1

      Left hand shifts, left foot clutch, right hand front brake, right foot back brake.

      Thanks a lot Mr. Andy ^_^... but what about the left hand (on handlebar).. something that has to do with timing.. am not sure... O.o ... would be great if u explain how this machine will be started up...

    • @AndyBumataiShow
      @AndyBumataiShow  7 лет назад +1

      It's a kick start only bike. Watch the video because I don't understand what you are asking about. Left hand is on the handle bar if it's not shifting.

    • @plugspark333
      @plugspark333 7 лет назад +1

      Andy Bumatai a guy was talking abt retarding the timing / advancer which is located on the left hand side of the handle bar.. I think it was a HD wla

      Maybe you are thinking of a twist grip clutch? You twist it like a throttle but it engages the clutch. This would go on the left grip area.

    So on this 4 speed 1st would be straight back from neutral and then 3 forward, is that how this works?

    The jello!!!! I wonder why they haven't invented some good rubber mount for the GoPro. I had to just listen to the video as I couldn't watch it. Good subject though.
