ohhh look! thats all of us right now in the middle of 2019 nCOV pandemic
this video is way ahead of time
Nikhil Bishnoi right?!?!
Thinking same thing!!
I honestly thought this was a recent song because of the line "It's seasonal, nobody knows, we'll make it known somehow," and thought it was about the current situation, wow.
Yes, I've searched because of that ; )
Except it is about hikikomori people. They are Japanese people that can't handle the pressure of their society and stays in isolation for years. Without any social contact with anyone.
Returning to this master piece 5 years later and this could be a video that narrates how it feels the isolation of the pandemic.
When music's around, stay warm my friend
они всё знали уже тогда
I call that preview of the future
The after effects of the pandemic
Only it wasnt after effects.
The music videos for this and Kerala are amazing
Agree!
given me love and hope in cinema and creativity again. music videos can often inspire me more than a film as a filmmaker as they are allowed a closed off unique vision of simple execution often allowing for greater creativity. These two videos with relatively simple concepts yet incredibly well thought out and executed make me realise it's still possible to do something 'new' I use this word with a grain of salt as nothing is truly 'original' and it's naive to think otherwise, but to still be able to present a vision that is inspiring leaves me grateful to the arts and artists who are continuously going forwards and pushing boundaries with creative thought!
Cystlib Kerala was fit inducing
What is the meaning of the vídeo? Can you tell me please? Thanks
No Reason
still one of the best electro albums ever made
After a few fun days inside this quarantine feels just like this.
Few days? Somewhere months...
Lets make it a year
There is no need covid to get something like that
Daaaaamn you right
This video predicted the future. Goosebumps.
Woah I just realized that. 🤯
indeed
OMG!!!! is trueeeee

also bonobo rocks!
Nice comment, very agree.
Looks like you should visit Vimeo more often
Maybe. It's more that I'm a movie buff, but movies can feel very stagnant sometimes in their genres, even ones trying to do it differently! And that I love watching short films and music videos that are able to create a premise without all the necessary fleshing out required in cinema. You can present a very unique vision, very creatively in a short space of time! And that's what these two short films have done for me more than most cinema in the past year!
well said
I really thought the video was about COVID quarantine until I checked the date... crazy
Bonobo with Chet Faker(Nick Murphey).... I have been waiting for this all my life. This is the greatest thing.
Every new cycle, every new season brings with it challenges and growth. He has outgrown what was familiar to him, now it is time to find a new place to call home and dream again without clinging to the past. Growth is beautiful if you are able to perceive its subtle voice.
Very well said, you have surpassed what was familiar in the sense 5m
fun fact: the calligraphy on the wall reads "My small house" in Japanese
another fun fact: in the bottom right corner on the other side of the door is a poster that says ボノボ (bonobo)
i was thinking it must add something to the film!
😱
There is far more behind it than you think. The more you "can" see the more you understand that your world is smaller than you think. You will eventually outgrow this world to see something "new". Apples are not there for your entertainment either. Try to think about it who made Apples famous and what they can do for you what they simbolize...
one more: check out the calendar on the wall. it turns out the time go past. less and less crossed away days
Bonobo, Nick Murphy, Flume, Ta-Ku. They are all LOVE.
yesssss
ok, master piece
This video is something many of us can relate to. Letting time slip by only to try and desperately cling on to it and chase it down as it leaves us. Live your life and do what makes you happy. No regrets.
Very nice explaination
The expression "mind blown" gets thrown around a lot, but sometimes no other expression would be enough. This is awesome, amazing and brilliant.
Brilliant song. Brilliant video. Video apparently was done in one filming, forwards and coming back. 18 different continuous rooms, each individually constructed. Real talent, no relying on CGI. Actual graft.
To me, this video symbolizes the anxiety/reality of not accomplishing anything. Notice that the portrait on the wall changes from a graduation photo to one of him in his dirty clothes.
Also, this song reminds me of the artist Portico.
Hikikomori
Hang in there and keep fighting the battle, your get to a place your happy with :)
emilee ok ...HIKIKOMORI : lonely young Japanese who stays weeks, months, locked in their tiny rooms pressed by exterior world, phenomena more and more current in Japan.
And it's because of multiple structural issues in modern society.
The endless economical activities, seeking of profits, make us treat other human being as 'materials/tools/products' unconsciously and blindly. And hence pushes some aware people into rather staying alone, instead of the inevitable 'making use' of other people out there.
It's not that one is not accomplishing anything, it's the way how the word 'accomplish' defined is often too narrow-sighted...
"This video symbolizes the anxiety/reality of not accomplishing anything."
This is like my room but each room is a different point in time. Maybe not physically the same but it definitely connects for me. I've lived in the same room since I was 5. I'm almost 20. Not much has changed.
Bonobo + Chet Faker= ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Flume + Chet Faker= ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
All 3 of them are great artists
I used to love this video for its visual effects and a bit for the story it tells. Now with the pandemic and having moved out from my parents house into a 23m2 this hits on a whole new level, I shed a tear once or twice watching it. I just want to go back to meeting people, and being able to go to uni instead of online classes that keep me confined to my chair 8+hrs a day...
I saw a clip of the making of this video and they say it's inspired by the Hikikomori.
This is from wikipedia:
Hikikomori (Japanese: ひきこもり or 引きこもり, lit. "pulling inward, being confined"), also known as severe social withdrawal, is total withdrawal from society and seeking extreme degrees of social isolation and confinement. Hikikomori refers to both the phenomenon in general and the recluses themselves, described as loners or "modern-day hermits". The phenomenon is primarily recognized in Japan, although similar concepts exist in other languages and cultures, especially South Korea. Estimates suggest that half a million Japanese youths have become social recluses, as well as more than half a million middle-aged individuals. In South Korea, the estimates vary from around 350 thousand to over half a million.
The more I listen to this, this more I like it!
Gives me chills every time I watch this. Bonobo your music is eternal.
Having a Bonobo marathon rn!! it couldn't be anymore exhilarating!!!!
Magical
Is strange how this song is not the usual Bonobo style but is "sounds" Bonobo right away. As a music-maker myself I admire the hard style imprint Bonobo has!
The workings of the mind...beautiful
you can't go wrong with Bonobo! he has a song for every mood.
Please tell me there is no cgi, only masking. I would be impressed. (I can't tell, I could only watch it in 240p).
Edit: Answer "We achieved the film using only in-camera physical effects and we designed an entirely new way of moving our miniature camera to get it to fit through the tiny doorways. Doing this film with CGI would have been a thousand times easier, but for me, it’s physicality & imperfections are what make it different, and I hope better." - Oscar Hudson (director)
all real life
Thats pretty funny, but I mean, did they build each room smaller and smaller with green screen inside the door and set camera to same speed and angle? Or they could only film actor on green screen and rest make in post.
no green screen, all built from scratch, one camera
I thought you were joking... I'm impressed even more :D
And the scenes shrink in size @richardmorell?
I'm stunned at how beautiful the music and video fit together. But I couldn't expect any less from a Bonobo video though. (Kerala was amazing!)
I've got this one on repeat!
Excuse me.. but Kerala's video is fit-inducing
@Aditya Khanna
I was personally fine with it.
It's also an excellent representation of an anxiety attack.

This is going to get millions of hits.
Everything has a reason, but there are no reasons to quit on what is good, or focus on what is a problem. Spirituality is a mentality, which causes us to think about good things in this life.
This guy never skips leg day.. Respect
There are other ways to train your muscles than only the gym lol
which one? in every room it's a different asian person
Coronavirus quarantine, video is waaaay ahead of its time
Yeahh
Video is not really ahead of time though, we're just behind on knowledge. Sars viruses have been here since 2002. Unfortunately history has taught most of us pretty much nothing.
nahh you're just behind and uneducated on antisocial behavior in japan
andrei tarkovsky Nah, you’re too autistic to understand sarcasm in the first place.
@@andreitarkovsky3214 you're from Japan then I assume?! Since you're being all uneducated and antisocial😝
This video is pretty damn effective. Not often I find a video actually adds to the musical experience but this one is quite incredible. I felt this crazy anxiety about what was going to be in the next room...
Bonobo is like Iron Maiden...whenever there's something new, you just know it's good before you hear it.
simply the best electronic music i've ever heard..
This man predicted quarantined life 4 years before

Incredible!. I used to live on one single room like that in Tokyo it can become pretty depressing.
Out of curiosity, how much was the rent for a place like that?
around 1000 USD a month.
Cheers
