In my opinion, one of the greatest games of all time. The levels were so unique and creative, the music fit every stage like a glove, which really made all the environments atmospheric and mysterious, I loved this game as a kid, and still love it just as much as an adult. Thank you Insomniac.
I agree. The entire series is not only nostalgic but I also really enjoy speed running or frolicking through the stages in the old or remake to enjoy the atmosphere and graphics. really awe inspiring as a kid and even as a adult a lil
I never cared for this song or level when I was a kid, but listening to it now, at 25, I love it. It's so calmly chaotic. I actually like the Beast Makers' world a lot more now. I used to hate it as a kid. Dream Weavers is my favorite world.
You know... I learned something from watching playthroughs and playing the levels through out the game in the right order.. There's like a story through each level in each home world.. for example. In the beastmaker's home world you see Gnasty's forces taken control of the swamps and using advanced technology.. You routed his forces but then the natives (the guys in Metalhead and Tree Tops) take the left over technology and use it to kill Spyro. They turned a giant robot that the Gnorcs had built into like a god when they realize that it was destroyed by a purple dragon. (I could be making this up in my head.. but... hey it gives a reason as to what's going on in each level you go through in the game.)
IMO, Metalhead is the only boss which is somewhat challenging. At least you have to watch out for his laser beam and those damn strongarms he throws, as well as making sure you don't hit the poles if they aren't green.
***** Gnasty Gnorc(and by extension Gnorc Gnexus/Machinists) were confirmed to be due to time constraints, if you have seen the beta version which included superflame, extra platforming, and killing enemies to defeat him. Gnorc Gnexus was going to be a full fledged level.
Well, I guess you're right about the bosses being rather simple, but this game was still so awesome that I don't hold that against it. At least they were still creative with them, especially Gnasty Gnorc.
+Jojje4567 To be fair Jacques gave me a bit of a hard time as well with those purple boxes he throws. Sometimes you just can't get out of the way. He can be awkward to flame also.
I love the chimes in this. This takes me back, not only to my gaming childhood days but also to an era in that point in time of my life that I would love to revisit :( Magical
For some reason, I think this is mine favorite theme in whole game. Beat is just that awesome. Actually I like most Beast maker's stages. Good music and challenge.
I've played this game ever since I was about four. I'm sixteen as of today, and this was my favorite level in the game, along with Cliff Town. I play this game solely because I love the feel of it. It's an overall easy game; when I was a kid, I didn't know there were bosses. I just thought they were cool challenges for random levels. So I beat every one of them. Yeah, this game was my childhood. And I bought the second one to see if it had that 'feel', you know? Nope.
+Adam Loves Andrea I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT THAT WAY! Now I see that I'm not! I waited 18 years to find somebody to say that. I know right, it just has a charm to it that I could never quite find in the other two, and I had long wondered what exactly this "feel" was myself. Well I believe I've finally been able to extract it. Was it the undeniably genius soundtrack that set it apart? Maybe. Was it the way this game struck the perfect balance between challenging your capabilities without being impossible? Maybe. Was it the way the game had 34 LEVELS and 6 HOME WORLDS in it, yet it still had a way of making every level feel like something entirely fresh and the spark of creativity in each shined brightly through? Maybe. And this one is interesting to note because think about this for a second: In every home world that you visited in both Spyro 2 and 3, they were all green grasslands. Sure, some had less hills, and some had more ponds, and some were night and some were day, but at the end of the day, (no pun intended) it was when we played Spyro 1 that when we hopped into that balloon to travel to the next land that my guess was as good as yours as to what was going to welcome us (or not) once we arrived. Was it the one-of-a-kind idea to stick a small, lovable dragon, equipped with his cocky and determined personality which allowed him to face and overcome all of the challenges that tried to get in his way? Maybe. Was it the fact that this was an evolutionary game for its time, in which you were free to roam large, colorful 3D environments yet it was still able to come through with stunning visuals to compliment? Maybe. Was it the crafty way through which every level seemed to have some kind of secret, and you had to use your brainpower to figure out how to conquer them all? Or was it a combination of all of these to create a unique experience that is paralleled by none? More likely. This was the first video game I ever owned as a child, and is the single most nostalgic game for me personally that I have had the fortune to own. I was only 3 years old back then and for whatever reason, I decided to pick it up. But it was one of the best decisions I ever made. A decade and a half later I am still enjoying this game. I got the other two installments when I was 6 and 7, and while they were also a joy, I will never regret my decision of picking this game up. I got my brothers to play this game, (yay!) I ask my friends to play it. Assuming I'll have a girlfriend at some point, I'm going to want her to play it. Everybody needs to give this game a shot. (And I mean a legitimate shot. Not that you shouldn't get addicted the first time you start it up, but hey, there are always those people who play two levels and just give up on it.) This game didn't try to be too much, (cough, Spyro 3, cough, I mean no offense but you see what I mean) nor did it try to be something it wasn't (cough, Skylanders series, cough) It had no expectations placed upon it, and sometimes, maybe that's for the better. It proved that keeping the concept simple doesn't detract from the game as a whole. I believe it was all of these concepts combined into one wonderful package that shaped it into a timeless masterpiece to be universally enjoyed.
+MultiSuperguy101 Yeah you know what? I played this for the first time when I was 3, maybe even 2, but definitely by the time I was 3. Yet, I give the game to my little sister who is 4 and she can barely understand the control movements. How does that work???
+MultiSuperguy101 Yeah. Controls are dumbed down for these kids now I guess so when they are handed a controller, they don't know what to do with it. We're still working on it though! She seems to enjoy the game even still.
I remember seeing that kicking dude in this area, and stopped the game right there for a while, mostly because him being so far away scared me. Funny part was, I thought that the kicking dude was Metalhead in the distance.
I love how, in Spyro 1, Spyro is only a little kid. In the 2nd and 3rd games of the original Spyro, he does get older, but he is still equally cute. I love the fact that a tiny little dragon, like him, can kick so much ass. :D
Does anyone else think this song kind of sounds like an Irish jig/river dancing music? Just the overall rhythm and drum beats sound Irish or Scottish to me. And the melody has a lilting quality to the notes that reminds me of Celtic music. :)
This reminds me a lot of the Icelandic coastline for some reason. Dunno why. Something about all that basalt that looks... fortress-y. And the fresh winds above the pounding waves. Pretty cool.
this level has the coolest little hideout/secret :) I like on Spyro 1 all the bosses have a level with the boss. They didnt seem to do it on any others.
Actually boss levels were a very 90s thing. Rise of the Triad: Dark War (1994) is a classic example that had a separate track for the level (havana smooth) and one for the actual boss encounter (hellero).
How is that? How many of us tubed "spyro soundtrack?" Seeing as the views on many of these uploads are in the thousands and with lots of thumbs up and positive comments, l say the soundtrack has gotten alot of love from us.
When the video demo of this game came out it had this awesome guitar music playing with it. I never knew the name of the song and heard it once on the radio. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
@offexion, I totally agree! :D I miss the OLD SPYRO sooooooooooo much! :( :( :( Not only is Spyro going downhill, but Spongebob is going downhill, as well. I HATE when things go DOWNHILL! 0-0
I remember when I was about 3 playing this, it was so hard back then for my first game! My Favorite boss themes (ever) are probably Blowhard, Toasty, Jacques and this. Though while my favourite themes consist of those I don't like Gnasty Gnorc and Dr Shemp as much as the others... Still good though :)
My favorite boss, I recall after fighting my way through every level and if I have spare time brush through and slaughter metalhead, I recall looking for all of his varying attacks, trying to make him to do his electric ring toss, and making him kill himself.
@offexion, I totally agree! The new Spyro games suck, and now theres's SKYLANDERS! 0-0 I grew up with Spyro the Dragon, and the new games of him have gone WAY TOO FAR! 0-0 If only Insomniac had not sold their company to whichever company made the Legend of Spyro, and so on! 00-
Toasty, Metalhead and Gnasty Gnorc look very hard but in my opinion Jacques is in spyro the dragon the hardest. He is realy easy but I died the most at the fight with him because I am stupid :P. I fell sometimes :P
Actually, I entered this level alot when I was 5 and beat Metalhead every time... I did think it was a hard level and freaked out the first time I saw a robot with a mohawk. LOL
I'm the same way and I think it's because I lost my copy of that game when I was still a kid, I never lost the first and third games and remember everything about them clearly but when I go back and play 2 now it just feels sort of foreign and off compared to 1 and 3, obviously there's a difference in familiarity but it also just doesn't feel as fun to me and I have to almost will myself to pick it up and play it compared to the other games.

My favourite Spyro game to speedrun, my favourite to play would be the third game.
And the music was done by the legendary drummer Stewart Copeland
Agreed a million percent of the way ^_^
I agree. The entire series is not only nostalgic but I also really enjoy speed running or frolicking through the stages in the old or remake to enjoy the atmosphere and graphics. really awe inspiring as a kid and even as a adult a lil
I love how this song has a calm, yet kinetic rhythm to it, almost as if it's made to synchronize with the way Spyro gallops along.
I never cared for this song or level when I was a kid, but listening to it now, at 25, I love it. It's so calmly chaotic. I actually like the Beast Makers' world a lot more now. I used to hate it as a kid. Dream Weavers is my favorite world.
same here, it used to really creep me out. i can definitely appreciate it a lot more now.
Honestly, I like everything about this level. The layout, the music, the boss's appearance, and the method of taking him out.
I like the background: a dark, clear night in a swamp, in an isolated fortress, with a large full moon.
You know... I learned something from watching playthroughs and playing the levels through out the game in the right order.. There's like a story through each level in each home world.. for example. Shahrooz Smith that's actually a fun and creative way to think about it. Haha
Love it

***** beta version? what!
Droobis Great name btw
+Jojje4567 To be fair Jacques gave me a bit of a hard time as well with those purple boxes he throws. Sometimes you just can't get out of the way. He can be awkward to flame also.
I love the chimes in this. This takes me back, not only to my gaming childhood days but also to an era in that point in time of my life that I would love to revisit :( Magical
This might be my favorite track from the game it has such a WILD vibe to it.
Those wails really make this song unforgettable
love this soundtrack
This game's soundtrack doesn't get enough love.
It's massively underrated.
Reminds me of when you're in the Everglades during night and it's raining and lightning
Cool analogy! ^_^
For some reason I was thinking you were talking about the Rocky Mountains which seemed a little bit cooler, but the Everglades would be more accurate.
For some reason, I think this is mine favorite theme in whole game. Beat is just that awesome. Actually I like most Beast maker's stages. Good music and challenge.
This is one of my favorite Spyro tracks. Stewart Copeland is a very great video game composer
I've played this game ever since I was about four. I'm sixteen as of today, and this was my favorite level in the game, along with Cliff Town. I play this game solely because I love the feel of it. I also felt the same. I played this game around 2 or 3. I'm now 16.
+MultiSuperguy101 Yeah you know what? I played this for the first time when I was 3, maybe even 2, but definitely by the time I was 3. Yet, I give the game to my little sister who is 4 and she can barely understand the control movements. How does that work???
+Dmitri Franco idk lol probably because lots of kids prefer phones and tablets nowadays.
+MultiSuperguy101 Yeah. Controls are dumbed down for these kids now I guess so when they are handed a controller, they don't know what to do with it. We're still working on it though! She seems to enjoy the game even still.
each ost of this game is EPIC, the general theme is done to be unforgettable... just awesome
I'm 23 and still play these games more than the modern crap
Same here I love this game a lot more cause my old man bought this game for me and I never stop playing it either.
LozzaG93 I'm 31 I still play these games
Sooner or later that remaster gonna make you think twice. Crash is Back and now we wait for the purple dragon to return
N8ve Jay AND IT'S HAPPENING
I mean the remaster comes out in less than 6 to 8 weeks.
Tied with Dark passage for my favourite level in the game :)
All the boss songs are amazing in this game
I remember seeing that kicking dude in this area, and stopped the game right there for a while, mostly because him being so far away scared me. Funny part was, I thought that the kicking dude was Metalhead in the distance.
I actually really liked this level. Definitely on me of my favorites. The boss was awesome

If you ever want to discover the true power of the bass in your car's stereo system, put this song on and turn the volume all the way up.
Yes that is definitely true ^_^ lol 😂
Does anyone else think this song kind of sounds like an Irish jig/river dancing music? Just the overall rhythm and drum beats sound Irish or Scottish to me. And the melody has a lilting quality to the notes that reminds me of Celtic music. :)
no.
no.
Gloria Hopkins yyyeeeeeeeees.
Yeah it kind of does a bit. Lol
Probably because it’s in 6/8
This reminds me a lot of the Icelandic coastline for some reason. Dunno why. Something about all that basalt that looks... fortress-y. And the fresh winds above the pounding waves. Pretty cool.
i cry when I listen to this. the memories.
this level has the coolest little hideout/secret :)

i know this comment was 8 years ago but when i say "any others" i mean any other spyro game in the trilogy, not other games.
How is that? How many of us tubed "spyro soundtrack?" Seeing as the views on many of these uploads are in the thousands and with lots of thumbs up and positive comments, l say the soundtrack has gotten alot of love from us.

Adding the robot in this game made this portal very interesting and fun. :D
I remember finding the secret hole in the gate below here and being like WOOOAAAH!!!!!
Suddenly and without really knowing why I love the part from :49 to :56.
''Questo robot è carico e sta aspettando te.''
Sounds like Breath of the Wild's 'Guardian Battle' soundtrack.
This is epic.
Stewart Copeland everybody. Stewart Copeland.
You know what would be cool? If Nightcore would do the Original Spyro soundtracks. :) ^-^
Oh god i had a flashback
Haha i remember playing Spyro and Crash
This was my favorite soundtrack in the 1st Spyro game = D
actually on my top 5 of this game musics
@fryBASS Every little thing he does is magic.
*_THE FUCKING BASS, THOUGH!!!!_*
@jamesofice just like the wierd penguin thingies with the staffs in magic crafters that go "POW!!" XD
Love this song and the level of it
I know this sounds strange but when i was younger, metalhead used to scare me when he falls down at the end!...If i'm thinking of the right boss...
The only real boss in the game.
“This big robot is all charged up to meet you. Attacking the power poles should disrupt its power supply.”
Uh-oh! Better call Jak and Daxter!
Jesus this song sounds ridiculously fast after hearing the metalhead alternate theme i.e. slowed down version of this :P
I always hear the noise the metal shield gnorcs make when Spyro charges through them in my head when I listen to this song
8 people got electrocuted by the poles while battling Metalhead.
FRIKIN great song, and legendary game
This big robot is all charged up to meet you, attacking the power poles should disrupt it's power supply.
Wow I still remember
DOPEST boss in spyro 1!
Best place to find extra lives
My favorite boss, I recall after fighting my way through every level and if I have spare time brush through and slaughter metalhead, I recall looking for all of his varying attacks, trying to make him to do his electric ring toss, and making him kill himself.
@offexion, I totally agree! The new Spyro games suck, and now theres's SKYLANDERS!
0-0 I grew up with Spyro the Dragon, and the new games of him have gone WAY TOO FAR! 0-0 If only Insomniac had not sold their company to whichever company made the Legend of Spyro, and so on! 00-
Sadiki looked like he could be Spyro's dad Cx
listnin while smokin 2 blunts nigga Kerry 2004
Gnasty Gnork disliked this video...
haxor758 Along with Metalhead, Jacques, Toasty, Dr. Shemp, and Blowhard.
Whenever he fired lightning, I always dodge-rolled like James Bond for the sake of defense ... and I totally looked bad@ss doing that XD
damn they just don't make video games like they use to good times i loved fighting this boss.
The Hardest Boss I'd Say Is Dr.Shemp
HOW THE HELL DO YOU MANAGE TO DROWN IN A WATERFALL ANYWAY?!?!
Snarkspawner PLAYSTATION LOGIC
@ThePhysicsGun its a robot that has a eletrical hat that gives him power
"METAL...GEA-...HEAD!"
NOH
THEY'LL MAKE SPYRO GREAT AGAIN!!!
Deep in Beast makers world - 200 km north of Galzburg...
i loved this level lol :D
@FangedDragon01 It's still kick-ass though! :D
Metal head scared me so much as a kid I don't know why. I would always turn the game off when I got to him.
I felt the same about Scorch's Pit
the music has that acid garden vibes(?)
I NEED to sample the beginning part
Damn you spyro.
music is so frightening at 1.06 to 1.30
All the bosses were easy for me. Love this game though, I got everything in it now =P
🔥 🖤
Toasty, Metalhead and Gnasty Gnorc look very hard but in my opinion Jacques is in spyro the dragon the hardest. He is realy easy but I died the most at the fight with him because I am stupid :P. I fell sometimes :P
this level was too short
@crash22spyro im not knit pickin, i love spyro! just making an observation! XD
the secret key was hella hard to find!
Actually, I entered this level alot when I was 5 and beat Metalhead every time... I did think it was a hard level and freaked out the first time I saw a robot with a mohawk. LOL
Stewart Copeland for the win.
Sounds very Oriental for the music which I can see why they might influence from china for their culture and mythical creatures
like si lo escuchas el 2016
well for me the hardest boss is Dr.Shemp i think, hes the only that manages to get one hit on me
To be honest, I don't think any of them were particularly hard. And If I recall, the only one I got hit by was Jacques.
lol what a name, Blowhard haha
ya know what's weird I love the first spyro game and the 3rd but the second just wasn't that much fun why is that?
I'm the same way and I think it's because I lost my copy of that game when I was still a kid, I never lost the first and third games and remember everything about them clearly but when I go back and play 2 now it just feels sort of foreign and off compared to 1 and 3, obviously there's a difference in familiarity but it also just doesn't feel as fun to me and I have to almost will myself to pick it up and play it compared to the other games.
interesting.. 3 was a nightmare of a game
Hoppy's Magical Quest 4:Boss # 4 - Steelhead
Easiest. Boss. Ever. Toasty was harder than Metalhead. >_>
@randomdude581 haha same with me
@4835590 toasty had the best music though
Well everybody said something else,so I say Blowhard :D
spyro 1 bosses al easy 2 and 3 two ar easy but they not running every second away
