    • @lindapucillo3493
      @lindapucillo3493 2 года назад

      @@AnitaSouthall Lucky you! I don’t have a wall with enough space for a design wall, either. If the quilt is really large, I go to my quilt shop and use their design wall. I also use the floor, but that is my last resort, as getting down on the floor is way too painful. Still trying to figure out a solution.

    fabulous April, I've had this cross on my todolist for so many years it's just ridiculous. I, like you, don't have tons of $$ for patterns and therefore never bought one. I'm glad and sad that the designers work is now a free pattern. But, I'm going to take advantage and print one out. Your meadow flowers are lovely.

    I made a cross quilt this March and used the same pattern it took me a while and and some double looking at the pattern also but turned out gorgeous just like yours. I know your sister in law will love it. Don't know how to get a picture of it to you. Have an owl, an elephant and a teddy bear quilt I also made this spring that I would like to show you. HAPPY QUILTING

      Hi Ruth
      It is a thick foam insulation board that I covered with flannel and my husband hung it on the studs of my unfinished basement!
      I LOVE IT

    I've been working with green this week and debating which greens match and which clash for tone. But you used yours really well. I do like the cross hatch solid. The whole quilt came out so well.
    It's sort of a cross ✝️ between a log cabin and a courthouse steps pattern.
    I'm interested in what batting folks choose for wall hanging vs a usable cuddly or bed quilt. 🛌
    Happy sewing day to all. 🇦🇺💜🇺🇲💚😊👍🖐

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  2 года назад

      Thank you. The batting question is a good one. I think I might go with polyester since it is a wall hanging. I guess I will have to do some research on what the 'standard' would be. :-)

    Absolutely gorgeous! 💗💗💗 If you don't mind, please let me know where on Pinterest you found the pattern. I looked and looked when I was wanting to make it but I only came across pictures...no patterns. 😕 I eventually gave up. I would truly appreciate it if you could steer me in the right direction. Thank you so much. 💗🙏🙏🙏💗
    UPDATE: I went back on Pinterest and found the pattern right away! Wow...not real sure what I was doing wrong before when I couldn't find it...hmmmm...🤔🤔🤔 Anyway, I'm so happy I found it! 🤗

    I’m new to quilting. I love your videos! Are you spraying water or starch on the fabric?

    • @AnitaSouthall
      @AnitaSouthall 2 года назад +1

      My guess is possibly starch because it can prevent stretching on larger pieces of fabric especially on that white. Longer seams, more handling can distort fabric, starch is a bit like light cement keeping it together. Can always wash it after its fully quilted and the binding is on.

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  2 года назад +1

      I'm using either Faultless Premium Luxe Spray (and you will see the can) or a new product that is supposed to be a combination or Best Press and starch. It is called Magic Premium Quilting and Crafting Spray. I got a big bottle of it and I pour it into one of those sprayer bottles that has a bladder which sprays evenly. There are links in the video description.

    April can I use other things other than quilt batting in my quilts like flannel or flannel or thick blankets or whatever? Sir? I am making "for the homeless so they have to be warm.

    • @peggersf9709

      Hi Christine. I’ve used polar fleece in my charity quilts before

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  2 года назад +2

      Of course you can. Flannel would probably be a good alternative to batting. Thick blankets or fleece are also options. That is wonderful you are making quilts for the homeless. You could also use flannel shirts and cut them into blocks for the top. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Suggestions: maybe your white on white prints or other such prints would show up on camera if you showed them as a single layer instead of folded, maybe also back lit. I know you struggle showing these fabrics.
