This is an 8 hour roller coaster of a race. You've made a fan out of me.
@@bradford_shaun_murray No lol. It was he thought there was debris on the tyres. Which being involved in the sport I can tell you that is how drivers remove crap off the tyres if they feel what is termed in the garage as simply pick up. So you weave the car around to try and clear the tyres. As you lose grip if one of the tyres has debris etc on it, especially as they are at the back end of their life. Reality is everyone knew he was gone, he was being told he was gone. Why he did not listen I’m not sure. He went for broke basically but needed to listen. In the garage you know exactly to the drop how much fuel is in the car and you know the fuel burn rate. So the engineers knew he was a goner long before he was if he didn’t slow down and save fuel. He didn’t and they warned him that would happen
Even tho I’m a RB fan and it still hurts. I can’t deny this is the greatest 1000 I’ve ever witnessed these sort of days made me glad to be a Supercars fan!!!! Supercars for life!!!
I'm Malaysian, and I remembered watching this starting from about 9 AM in the morning live on TV. I was a fans of PepsiMax FPR. It was the most intense 7 hours race I've ever seen. Was bummed out when Frosty crashed but Mostert kicked it hard. Truly one of the greatest V8 Supercar race I've ever watched.
The absolute BEST part of these steams is the announcer silence during commercial breaks. This is probably the first time I have ever said MORE COMMERCIALS PLEASE!!!

I wanted to thank this channel for these magnificent uploads. From an American who owned a 2015 Chevrolet SS, or Holden Commodore, it is my humble opinion that this series represents some of the best racing the world over, oh and the V-8 soundtrack only reinforces this opinion, so thank you a ton.
This was the first race I had watched for the Supercars series...... I fell in love with the racing and I have been here ever since!!! This is amazing to be able to relive it!!! Can not wait to get to visit in real life one day!
i just want everyone to appreciate that, in the final lap, they didnt only show the cars, they showed the spectators cheering and the team on the garage too, that made the finale so much better
Still love how well Scott and Volvo did this year, such a shame they went down hill after 2014 and pulled the plug. I remember going to the melb gp this year and was awesome to hear the Mercs and volvos. Really made it feel like an. Actual touring car championship not just F v H

Jamie Whincup has an incredible ability to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. It’s not the only time he has done that. If he drove to a number he would have had enough fuel to finish the race. Bad decisions equal poor results. When Mostert was asked how he won he answered “ Put some fuel in it mate” 😀👍

If you bothered watching the whole race, Mostert won from LAST and set the fastest lap of the race without running out of fuel, punting Kelly by rejoining like an idiot and binning it while catching up to the safety car. How on earth was Whincup's performance better than that?
2006 was great because of how poetic it was, and I think this pips it as the greatest because we never really knew who was going to win until the very end, especially when it was a laston-grid-to-win winner. I'll never forget this race
@@Neishy4AGTE no one remembers second place, I would probably do the same. Maybe conserve a bit more but he probably thought he was doing enough until the last 2 laps, then he probably thought I can't do much now. Hindsight is a virtue.

He basically ran himself out of fuel then tried to slow right down in the last 2, did you not watch the part where his team was telling him to save and he ignored them till it was too late, its really strange.
@@Neishy4AGTE There was an interview at the time where he stated he was driving too a number the whole stint. But he could have been lieing to save himself some embarrassment.

I watch about 1200 races across about 50 racing series every year. I also journal every day. I just went back and looked at my journal entry for this race in 2014 and at that time, I declared it to be the best race I've ever seen. I haven't seen one to top it in the years since.
So good to be able to rewatch all these old races, especially from the 2011,2012,2013 & 2014 season's - some of the best V8 Supercars racing in history!
I like that they shut up when the ad breaks came. The earlier bathursts such as 2007 are so frustrating during ad breaks because I just wanna hear the damn cars with no commentary at all!
As a Kiwi, I was crushed by SVG's car breaking on him when he was up the front. But a bunch of great stories in this one. Merc fourth, Nissan 2nd (despite it's entire front held together with race tape), and Chaz getting it from the back of the grid on the final run down Conrad.
The best race ever I was 15 years old when this happened and its will been best memorys from the v8 Josh Revell did its a great job on the race review and shout out to the all kiwis! Chazzy amazing comeback Frosty would been livid when lowndesy bump him off the road
I (along with many others I suspect) had to watch this in 3 or 4 installments. And I was rivetted from start to finish. This truly was one of the greatest races ever in terms of, well everything lol, I'll be sending the link to my racing buddies to enjoy as well. An let's hear it for the Aussie sense of humour making even the down times enjoyable 😁👍👏
Ha ha yeah saw that. In fairness those mechanics are right to be annoyed with Larko. I do also recall a couple of Bathursts ago he showed how teams kept brake pads heated in oven and so he opened one up letting out all the heat to show viewers.😂
Well done Chaz and Morris. That win was a great start for one career and a great finish for another. Well earned and well deserved. Half the grid put up a massive fight and are the reason why races shouldn’t be remembered by just the winners. They all gave the world one hell of a show that day. I was on the edge of my seat, especially in the final laps!
This race is great, because they actually shut up from time to time and actually let us watch the race, fantastic! I was at the 24 hours of Daytona and it honestly should've been renamed to the 24 hours of talking, just non-stop talking.
People don’t realise how smart it was from Whincup to wait until the final second. He tried to make a final stand for the win that he could have made by saving fuel earlier + counting on a potential mistake of his rival. Truly underrated, if he had won that, people would have considered him as god. Awesome race
One of the extraordinary races in Bathurst 1000 history, the damage on the track which stopped the race, SVG who lead the race until the last ten laps and for his car to die on him in pit lane taking in out of the race, Jamie Whincup burning up fuel in the last laps to the point he ran out of fuel to miss a place on the podium and Chaz Mostert alongside Paul Morris coming from nowhere, from last on the grid to win. Not even in lap 46 when Paul Morris crashed into the wall could stop then two from winning, it was amazing.
It's the great race Jamie throwing it all the line was awesome because if he went in for a splash and dash he would have finished around 5th. He rolled the dice and while he did not get the win he still got 5th.
Respect to jamie for having a crack.. i would have done done the same.. amazing drive from chaz to win it after his starting position and a we crash.. jamie too starting on the back row and a massive crash that almost left him a lap down... after all that, who wouldnt have a crack? One of the great races

I like the commentary but im glad they take breaks. In Australia we get yelled at to buy tyres for 5 minutes. Glad im watching this 10 years later. No kids, no mother in law. Good to actually get whatd going on for once. Im doing a marathon!!

out of all the Bathurst 1000 races I've seen live on TV, this Bathurst 1000 was my favorite out of them all
2014 Bathurst 1000 is the best ever Bathurst 1000 race.

As a Ford and Bathurst 1000 fan, this was without doubt the Greatest Bathurst 1000 ever and one of the Greatest Car Races ever.

10 year anniversary next month since this Bathurst 1000 race was held & it’s still the best race this century.
Save of the day was Mostert catching Paul Morris out of mid-air.

It was an endurance race more for the track than the cars (at least, early on it was).
2014 was a great year with my favourite falcons and second favourite Commodores.

I like the commentary but im glad they take breaks. In Australia we get yelled at to buy tyres for 5 minutes. Glad im watching this 10 years later. No kids, no mother in law. Good to actually get whatd going on for once. Im doing a marathon!!
