Sadly, not long after this 2011 Bathurst 1000 race, New Zealander Jason Richards died from cancer shortly afterwards, which was 2 months later, in December 2011-RIP Jason Richards (1976-2011).
Was there that weekend, was a brilliant weekend. Rained practically non stop until Sunday. Got to hang out with the BJR guys (good friends with Kim and Brad Jones) and also got to hang out with Jason Richards one final time before he died. The hug I got off him will always be cherished
I don’t think the stacking did too much I think it was when Jamie’s battery was dead and Lowndes & winterbottom didn’t pass him is what killed the race win for him

Crazy to think that triple 8 racing we're still prioritising car 88 even when it had an electrical issue for most of the race. If car 888 didn't have to stack in the pits, Lowndes and Skaife would have had another win!
Throughout most of the race car 88 was in front so unfortunately 888 had to Q behind at the pitstops. It was only when the issue actually slowed down 88 that car 888 got ahead and didn’t have to Q. You wouldn’t want to hold up car 88 and make them drop behind 888 just so 888 doesn’t have to Q because what if 888 crashes for example and car 88 is miles back.

-Tander vs Lowndes, Triple Eight vs HRT (Walkinshaw), fight until the last lap for Peter Brock trophy. This is one of great race in Bathurst history.

If Skaife didn't make a mistake at 42:34, they wouldn't have had to stack in the pits.
