Back in the 90s, I was in a crowded parking garage waiting for a car to back out of a space so I could get past; much to my shocked disbelief, the guy backed into me. I thought he would stop before he hit me, but he didn't. Of course, he told his insurance company that I hit him from behind. So since dash cams became affordable, I have put them on all of my cars.

I've put them in most my vehicles now. It starts to get expensive once you're over 2 vehicles 😂

Just to let everyone know, this camera does NOT have number plate recognition.
What the owner’s manual means is that you can add YOUR registration number into the camera system so that it is displayed alongside the other data in the time stamp on the video footage.
Hope that helps and thanks for the great video. Stay safe.

Any update on how the camera has held up/performed? Also would love a review of what dash cams you use on your other vehicles!

The problem with these cameras is that even at 4K recording quality still it is impossible to see license plate numbers. You need to be very close to about 7 to 10 feet from the car to read the license plate numbers.

Perhaps the small philips screws are for security so the card cannot be stolen so easily.

I would’ve liked to see what it looked like with a Police night time stop. Can you do one of those? 👍

I knew you had some rc cars but didn't realise you flew helis as well! Love the bike stuff but would enjoy a little heli demo or something. I'm still trying to master them after a number of years trying 😊

Check out my other channel @back2newrc for some heli videos. I don't post too often there, but that's where all my R/C stuff lives now. I'm still trying to master helis as well! My adrenaline spikes every time I take one out. Nothing is quite like it.

@PracticalEnthusiast Yes, you can never relax when flying a heli but there's just something awesome about them for sure! I didn't know you had another channel. I'll check it out!

An interesting review. It must have taken a while to create, so thanks! Despite the price I'm sure they'd "cheap out" and supply a 32GB SD card if at all. I'm not sure which is the more frustrating: no card or a diminutively sized one; take your pick! For the money I would have liked an English-speaking "assistant" too, even if the first thing you do is switch them off. I agree that the remote is a bit surplus to requirements. For all the extra hassle of wiring the remote I'd be happy to just use the app to do something out of the ordinary. I wonder how the front camera will resist the accumulation of road grime on a winter trip. I guess we'll find out?

All good points! I''m also curious how it holds up after a week's worth of interstate miles. It looks like it can take the abuse, but we'll find out soon for sure!

Look forward to seeing how it performs IRL. It just occurred to me: since the remote seems to control no vital functions (?), I'd hide the whole thing under the seat or even better, not connect it at all (if it can run "headless"). Save an hour or two of frantic routing!

In my opinion, the front Camera should be in a higher place mounted on the motorcycle for a much better view

    Interesting video, thanks.
Do you have any longterm feedback since your video is 6 month old!? Something along the line of missing data, or constant storage fill up... as far I understand, other reviews mentioning the sensitivity settings are by default set so that pretty much every bump triggers an autosave bc the system things it detected an accident!?
Would love to hear some longterm review, maybe another video idea :)

Hey, good idea on a long term update video.
I took a 3k mile trip on the bike and around the 2k mark the storage filled up. I had sensitivity turned completely off. The system didn't overwrite old files and it just locked up. The app also could no longer connect to the DVR unit. On my own, I figured out the issue was the full SD card. After clearing the SD card it started working perfectly again.
I also applied an available update to it that may have fixed this issue. I can't say for sure because I haven't ridden many miles since.
I think the system is still good overall, but it really should be able to overwrite old files when storage capacity is met. Or at least it should give you an in-app warning explaining the issue.

@@PracticalEnthusiast , wow… that is very unfortunate, and imho unacceptable.
Given the benefit of the doubt it might be some weird setting issue!?!
      Appreciate the feedback, thanks!

I just had one of these fitted, but I think they may have wired it up wrong to the power as it functions perfectly when the ignition is on but completely shuts down and loses wifi when the ignition shuts off, I thought it had a parking mode, so there should still be power going to the unit when the ignition is off?

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  Год назад +1

I haven't tried parking mode myself, but it makes sense that wifi turns off with the ignition off. It sounds like it's been wired correctly. I imagine parking mode only draws a very small current for the motion sensor, and if it gets tripped, then enough power is drawn to turn on the cameras. To review the video, you'll have to turn the bike ignition on to enable Wifi or pull the SD card.

@@PracticalEnthusiast thanks, will give that a try in the morning

@@PracticalEnthusiast So it looks it was wired up wrong, I used my local Kawasaki dealer, so they rewired it and now I have parking mode, so when you turn the ignition off, that stupid aisan voice tell you it's going into parking mode, then if it detects movement that same voice will tell you it's recording, not something I would like so i'll check if you can delete the voice, my front cam is mounted inside the fairing on the right on my ZX14, so if a theif tries to grind out the disk locks they are going to be right up close.
Fantastic image quality, the only thing I would have loved to see is 60fps.
