Don't brush your curls except IN the shower - let the curls form naturally as soon as you step out the shower, carefully scrunching dry, if you want the less fuzzies and bigger better formed curls
Depends what you mean by "need" to brush your hair? I never brush curly hair dry as I never feel a need to, I can't see knots in curly hair? Overnight I either put mine up in a very high ponytail, so my curls aren't rubbing on the pillow, or I wear a silk wrap. I morning I take it out, use some water and conditioner in a spray bottle or a moisturising product. Then I use a curling iron to fix any sad/ fuzzy curls. Or if my hair is too messed up I just braid it haha!
I sleep with my hair out and when I wake up it's a mess in the back. My hair is to short to put in a ponytail high enough so that I can sleep with it.. I have a wideteeth comb but it wont detangle the knots :/ I will try with the water/conditioner concoction :) thank you
Love it! Just a tip, from my own curly experience, try to not move the diffuser so much when drying, and use a low setting if your not already. This will really help to ensure the hair isn't being moved around too much, and will prevent frizz with the top pieces!
Ashley Bloomfield Using the cool setting all the way through is better too. Using the hot setting, even with a diffuser always gives me terrible frizz.
Thanks for encouraging me to wear my natural curly hair. I have frizzy, thick, unruly hair, and after 35 years of fighting it, I am so excited to try your routine! You are gorgeous too!
Here's a tip: although it's odd, only brush your curly hair in the shower, cuz if u dont, it can get frizzy and the curls look weird. I do this and it helps. Also, let your hair air dry, as it helps the curls stay in. I have experienced this before, and no hate at all. ♥️♥️
"Okay you guys, so I'm just going to wear it naturally curly, because damage is the reason I needed to cut my long hair. So I kinda want to stop that this time around." Proceeds to pile on the products and heat.
Call Me Swivel Hips for curly hair, you almost all the time need products and a diffuser. There's no way they will look anywhere near decent without them. But the curling iron was not necessary, that is too much heat.
No you don't. You simply have trained your hair to need them is all. Many curlies think they need all these things in the same way many women think they need make up. That's not true. You don't NEED them...you WANT them. Big difference. Not that society makes it easy for you to find a routine that doesn't require you empty your bank account (hello capitalism), but it's definitely possible. Even for curlies. Hell, I have wavy hair, and I use nothing but water and a hydrosol.
Call Me Swivel Hips cool, wavy isn't curly tho. Curly hair needs moisture. Don't speak if you don't know lol W/o the moisture curly hair breaks and dies and becomes frizzy. Curly hair needs. More moisture than wavy or straight hair. She can opt for more natural products like oils instead of all those products but even then it's her choice. Sometimes cutting your hair short leaves you with no choice but to expirament with different products especially with curly hair because it's so hard to maintain in a healthy state and make it look good simultaneously
Call Me Swivel Hips curly hair is WAY different than wavy hair. Curly hair, especially in humid climates, needs lots of moisture from healthy styling creams and needs gel to hold curls in place at the bare minimum. Without that, curls are a frizzy mess.
I'm getting a side-parted bob for my wavy hair next weekend and I read that if you ask for shorter layers, it prevents the hair from mushrooming out into that dreaded triangle head.
Thank you! This is exactly the style I’m looking for. My hair is long, I’m almost 64. I had this style 10 yrs ago and loved it. Off to my stylist I go! 🤗
I am 63 and just cut my curly gray hair from middle of my back to my neck omg I love it so much . my hair is thick frizzy curly and course . I never thought short hair would look so sexy . And my hair is more healthier 🌻🌻🌻
Totally agree with the comment about not moving the diffuser too much. I’m a stylist with curly hair so the less you mess with it the less frizz. Also give the Deva curl products a try. My hair has been amazing since I switched to them. But use them only as directed! There’s a method to their madness. Cut is too cute!! Love it!
Courtney H me too when she pulled out the diffuser, the curling wand, the flat iron and used them on basically max heat I was so confused because she cut her hair cause it was heat damaged but isn't she doing the same thing that she did before
I'm late but it really got to me because I used to have nice naturally voluminous curly hair but I ruined it by doing things like straightening and this. The only way to have your hair naturally voluminous and healthy is to leave it and only apply product. My hair is back to its former glory but it took months and I had to chop it off at well. Never again will I constantly damage it with head :/
I have wavy hair, similar to hers, and sometimes I don't have time to let my hair air dry. That's when you need the diffuser. I set mine on low/warm. The cool setting takes way too long. I agree that you need to leave it in each section a little longer before moving on to the next section. I leave it for about 30 seconds for each section. I don't brush my hair. I agree that the 'afro vibe' comment was inappropriate. All different kinds of people have wavy or curly hair.
Never ever EVER brush curly hair outside the shower! If you need to detangle it use your fingers while the conditioner is still in. Brushing it is one of the worst things you could do
I'm late to the party but yeah, I was getting anxiety while watching this... from brushing her hair outside the shower, to moving the diffuser around and fluffing while drying. Yeesh.
You don’t need to be in the shower to brush your hair 🙄 it just needs to be adequately wet. You can achieve this with a spray bottle of water . Plus everyone’s hair is different . There’s also leave in conditioner so…
“Triangle head” I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! I always straightened my hair once a week to keep it tamed, but I recently cut it to your length to grow it out healthy. But I always end up having such a struggle cause I don’t like washing my hair all the time
I've been trying to find an everyday hair tutorial for lobs for people with curly hair so thanks a lot! It took me sooo long to find a tutorial from someone who has similar hair as me curl/texture/volume wise. Woohoo!
it looks really pretty! this made me decide again not to give up on my hair. my hair looks a lot like yours and sometimes my curls' indecisiveness in what shape they actually wanna get frustrate me.
zahra bazargan I use Paul Mitchel Super Sculpt (something like that) and it's my miracle worker! I'm 21 and have been looking for a good product my whole life! lol the struggle was REAL. I wear my hair natural all the time now. ☺☺
I found mixing leave in conditioner with a tad, and I mean dot, of coconut oil. Rub them together in your hands after shower, rub through hair, put hair back in towel, let out and WALLA supreme hair day. I found neither of these go well alone, they need each other, the dab depending on your hair to the nickle of leave in on wet hair is the BANG BANG in my climate anyway.
You definitely can wear your hair anyway! You are so pretty! I personally just don't dry my hair all the way to help make sure my curls don't end up a frizzy mess! lol I blow out my bangs and blend them into the rest. I never using a curling iron. I just rewet and put more mousse if my hair is too crazy. Happy 🐣 Easter!
I was nervous at first about your hair but I LOOOOOOVE IT!! SO high fashion the curly look i love it!!!! Now i would love to see straight!!! Great great hair cut!!! also try it slicked back and then a slicked back pony tail , then straight and the other side behind the ear. lots of looks you can do!!
This tutorial was just what I was looking for as my hair is growing out so it’s the same length but my layers are shorter. I have naturally waved/Curley hair so I’ve been using a diffuser too (an absolute must). Like you I find the odd sections don’t curl as much so was looking for something to add curls to blend in. Doing the odd ones will be fine as DONT want to use all over to reduce hair damage. You can’t avoid using heating appliances but it’s good to use a heat defence product first. Thank you for taking the time to share. Your hair looks amazing and really suits you. Curls are great and I’m embracing mine. ❤️ felt thanks
I got the same haircut last week and this is what I do: 1) wash it with any shampoo and conditioner, I only apply conditioner to the bottom of my hair 2) I ring the water out of my hair while still in the shower 3) I apply Garnier® fructis curly hair, Curl Cream Gel by Royal Locks, and It's a 10 miracle hairstyling cream and scrunch it into my hait 4) If I wash my hair at night I put it in a T-shirt wrap (you can watch a video on RUclips to learn how to do it) and if it's morning time I use a diffuser
I love your hair! I didn't see if you used a heat protectant, but that's a good idea to do if you didn't! And, when you're defusing, a little tip is to hold the diffuser a tiny, tiny bit away from the scalp, so it still cups your curls but also allows air to go up through your roots to dry them! And, the best thing I've ever learned is to keep the diffuser still when it's on. When you're moving to another section, turn the drier off and THEN turn it back on once it's settled. That'll keep frizz, and it'll probably eliminate the need for the curly iron! Good luck! I'm thinking about chopping my hair again, because yours looks awesome!
I recently cut my hair (way too short) and after being helped by my very very much trusted hair stylist to fix my big chop 😂. This is what I have to say: simply air dry!!! I don’t know the science behind it but the diffuser takes away that density that allows the curl to stay “curled” and pretty. and that too much air for example a fan would give too much frizz ( as some may already know ). Avoid using the hairdryer even the “cool setting” use light oils, hydrate yourself and your hair and enjoy the healthy beautiful bouncies.
I have the same curly hair as you and i cut it into a bob because my hair was also super dead. I recommend using the suave mousse. I've used more expensive mousse's but they made my curled super gel-like. I add a very excess amount of mousse into my hair and then completely flip my hair over and blow dry. It makes super defined curls, even when your hair is dead :)
You would look gorgeous no matter what you had going on... but, this is SO stunning ! Love the edgy vibe. I looked like a triangle head in the 80s but this is so modern ❤
Personal tip : try not to fluff your hair much when it's wet cause that causes frizz and try to leave the leave in when hair is soaking wet. When in the shofer detangle your hair with you fingers and conditioner and squeeze and scrunch after rinsing it out with cold water. The water makes all the curls form themselves naturally so when you apply products you hair is not separated:) and when diffusing do not move the diffuser back and forth just let it be
I just chopped off my hair due to damage as well. Very similar to this cut and while it didn’t look bad all the touching and messing with the hair while styling made it really frizzy. While I don’t mind a little frizz for volume I do like to have defined curls as well. You might want to try using a wide tooth comb in the shower then apply products upside down and scrunch gently. I then use a microfiber towel to scrunch out excess water upside down and side to side. Let the hair dry a little then defuse. I’m left with volume and defined curls as well with only one sometimes two products max. I am going to start using a heat protectant for when I diffuse thought that’s something I never did before.
I cut my hair off recently and oooffff it freaked out for a while there and its shrinking more every day and its 3x curlier than it ever was. I look like a grandmother. Oh well next year around this time it'll be longer AND healthY
love it!! very stylish. I got a similar cut a few months ago, have similar hair to you but mine would never stay without serious, serious hold. I use the "cheap" drug store gel 'cause it's the only thing that remotely works. complete puff ball. would have loved to see how your hair looked at the end of the day - next time?
i recently just cut my curly hair short too, this helped, thanks❤️ u scared me when you took out the regular blow dryer attachment, like what is she doing?!?!😂 haha
I think I see some actual real curls forming when her hair is wet at the beginning but she killed them off by brushing and fluffing and shaking the hair around. I think she would have 3a curls with the proper technique.
Just stumbled across this video on a day where I was feeling frustrated about My curly Bob. Followed your instructions and this morning it looks amazing! Thank you❤
u just gave me inspiration to cut my long hair... I've always wanted a lob look and never knew it would go with my hair texture which seems similar to urs... u look amazing😍😍😍 totally trying this cos I don't like putting heat on my hair, so it's nice to know this natural hair texture works well with the lob/bob.
Omg thank you! I'm a teenage girl with crazy curly hair. Never know how to work with it. I always either looked like someone put water on my head or a poof ball lol.
I was wondering around youtube looking for tutorials on styling short hair and came across this vid. not only did i just get my hair cut about the same length as yours but it also looks like we have the same hair texture *hits subscribe button* thanks for uploading this!
Highly recommend your check out the curly girl method for some tips on how to get those girls to bounce and twist without the use of a curling iron (ah! heat damage!). The final product looks good, but girl! Some very simple curly girl tips like a) no touching while you diffuse (thats causing all your halo frizz), trying a gel cast, and not scrunching in your products will go a looonnnng way! Give it a go sometime :)
I recently cut my hair last weekend. I have natural curly hair too! I’m on the struggle bus styling my hair now that’s it’s in a LOB. In your personal experience, with the amount of times of you’ve straightened your hair (whether it be with a straightener or blow out), does your hair still curl the same? I’m scared of ruining my curls. Thanks Girl!
Your hair would have more defined curls (& you wouldn't have to use the curling iron) if you didn't brush/run your fingers through with product while it was wet. :)
when running your fingers through your curly hair when wet and with product your hair will curl up more actually because with the water in it and the products in it your curls will be more defined and in its most naturally stage. Her hair is more wavy than curly, hers is more wavy semi curly so her hair won't really do that, if you don't believe look up pictures or videos of natural curly headed people even with mor untight curls and you will we the difference between hers and theirs, plus when I was stretching and leasing their hair it bounces back unlike hers instead her hair stayed there and only bounce back or not at all a little bit so so her hair isn't that curly. this is coming from a naturally curly person who has naturally curly hair that is tight in the back but looser there in the front please take no offense to this and trying to educate you on here and tell you that curly hair does that does not look like that but as more defined and is more about sea and this more lively than her hair
I always put product in, very gently, while it's wet and let it air dry. I feel like this is the least frizzy way. You are saying what now, wait until it's dry and then add product? What is your routine? My hair mid-neck length and medium to tight curls, I can make them more loose or more curly with a bit of manipulating. I HATE my new cut. She gave me LAYERS. WTF. I asked for LESS triangle head and now it's even worse. Trying to figure this thing out while I grow this stuff out. Any advice much appreciated! The struggle is real and life long lol
Megan Rooney Omggg that is literally me today! I literally asked for her to shape my hair so that I won’t have a triangle shape but nope she just made it worse and on top of that she cut my hair way shorter than what I wanted it to be and i’m dying rn because I have no clue what to do with my curls.
Don't brush your curls except IN the shower - let the curls form naturally as soon as you step out the shower, carefully scrunching dry, if you want the less fuzzies and bigger better formed curls
Paige Rose do you have tips for 2nd day hair? After I've slept I need to brush My hair and all curls disappear 😒
Depends what you mean by "need" to brush your hair? I never brush curly hair dry as I never feel a need to, I can't see knots in curly hair? no probs (: when my hair was shorter i just used a silk cap (:
Linda Ackberger wrap it at night

Ashley Bloomfield Using the cool setting all the way through is better too. Using the hot setting, even with a diffuser always gives me terrible frizz.
I was going to right the exacts same thing😂👌🏼
Ashley Bloomfield thank you for that tip about not getting frizz. I end up with frizz a lot. I'm more wavy than curly
And set a gel cast.... She used no gel.
Oh wow I move it around alot didn't know that was the trick
she brushed her hair SHE BRUSHED HER HAIR
Agree! You DO NOT brush curly hair! Ever!!!
Lolllllll you made me giggle 😂😂😂😂😂
katarina I know! Wide tooth comb only!
I brush my curly hair ...
You can brush curly hair, but ONLY when it's wet.
HAHAHAHA!!!! "'trying not to look like a triangle head.." i feel ya girl...the struggle is real!
omg so real lol
I was just WAITING to see this comment about the triangle head xDD
I read this as she said that haha!
Another layer or two could help, and styling-wise you could clip up curls at the roots when air-drying to give the top more volume
Indeed. It is real.
Thanks for encouraging me to wear my natural curly hair. I have frizzy, thick, unruly hair, and after 35 years of fighting it, I am so excited to try your routine! You are gorgeous too!
Btw I'm a she, not a he 😀 , stupid-profile-mix-up-kinda-thing

it's incredible how by just having curly hair you look so stylish, like you don't need makeup or a super trendy outfit and you look stunning!
curly is more beautiful than straight!! love it
"I wanna have my natural curl without looking like a triangle head." gurl. Ive been trying to do that for 25 years, the triangle is a constant.
Just get layers, i did them on myself and it helped 100%
I'm getting a side-parted bob for my wavy hair next weekend and I read that if you ask for shorter layers, it prevents the hair from mushrooming out into that dreaded triangle head.
I just had 14 inches cut off and was SO scared of what I'd end up with after the first shower post salon. This video helped me out ♥️! Thank you!
next morning you'll freak out when you see yourself at the mirror . trust me that's every wavy/curly hair problem 😭

HelloOo LeeeoOo tell me about it, 12 inches give and I still have straight dead pieces but my natural curls are finally growing.
I love how she kept saying natural curls but used all these products and curlers, diffusers & iron 😂😂
Yes. Art is destruction!!!! She did use protective products. What do you advise. The haircut and style is so sexy.
you should've just let it air dry too many steps you're going to damage it again at that rate. why don't you just give your hair a break?
I have wavy hair, similar to hers, and sometimes I don't have time to let my hair air dry. That's when you need the diffuser. I set mine on low/warm. The cool setting takes way too long. I am obsessed with your hair. You literally can make everything work, straight curly waves etc❤️
Obsessed might be a bit strong, but she is ROCKIN the locks. I am sold.
Did she really just use "nappy" and "afro vibe" in the same video to describe her hair. Honey, no. 👎🏽
Yeah thats what i was thinking too.
Yasmin Noor yeah, that was especially cringey
Right🧍🏽♀️
my first thought after hearing the words was to immediately leave a comment... eeek what was that.
I was a bit shocked too
“Triangle head” I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! I always straightened my hair once a week to keep it tamed, but I recently cut it to your length to grow it out healthy. But I always end up having such a struggle cause I don’t like washing my hair all the time

I got the same haircut last week and this is what I do:
1) wash it with any shampoo and conditioner, I only apply conditioner to the bottom of my hair
2) I ring the water out of my hair while still in the shower
3) I apply Garnier® fructis curly hair, Curl Cream Gel by Royal Locks, and It's a 10 miracle hairstyling cream and scrunch it into my hait
4) If I wash my hair at night I put it in a T-shirt wrap (you can watch a video on RUclips to learn how to do it) and if it's morning time I use a diffuser

I then use a microfiber towel to scrunch out excess water upside down and side to side. Let the hair dry a little then defuse. I’m left with volume and defined curls as well with only one sometimes two products max. I am going to start using a heat protectant for when I diffuse thought that’s something I never did before.
Embrace your natural texture- superb!
I cut my hair off recently and oooffff it freaked out for a while there and its shrinking more every day and its 3x curlier than it ever was. I look like a grandmother. Oh well next year around this time it'll be longer AND healthY
LOVED the new hair cut!! You look super cute!! Enjoy yourself :) 💕 XO
Ahhhh I just cut my curl hair short too! Washed my hair and panicked ahahah! This was so nice to watch! Thank yew gorgeous 🥰
love it!! very stylish. I got a similar cut a few months ago, have similar hair to you but mine would never stay without serious, serious hold. I use the "cheap" drug store gel 'cause it's the only thing that remotely works. complete puff ball. would have loved to see how your hair looked at the end of the day - next time?
I LOVE your new hair cut! 💕💕💕
Thank you babe! xo
I think you look GREAT! Love the new short hair!!
I LOVE IT SHORT AN CURLY!!!! ITS BEAUTIFUL
OBSESSED!!! You and this cut!!! Beautiful!
moving the diffuser while it's on can maker your curls frizzy! Tip: turn it off each time you want to move it :)
this wavy-curly hair ,i love it
I love the tousled, voluminous look!
I just went from waist length blonde hair to my hair being chin length and the same color and texture as yours, this is so helpful for me thank you!
FINALLY!!! A bob permed hair!!! Love your hair!😘
i recently just cut my curly hair short too, this helped, thanks❤️ u scared me when you took out the regular blow dryer attachment, like what is she doing?!?!😂 haha
I love the garnier spray gel! It makes my natural curls look like ringlets instead of worms, it doesn't make them crunchy, and it's so cheap!!!
I have really long straight hair, but I'm watching this just for your personality lol love ya girl!
I will say your hair is more wavy than curly...but still love the end result :)
Yeah I would say the same
I think I see some actual real curls forming when her hair is wet at the beginning but she killed them off by brushing and fluffing and shaking the hair around. I think she would have 3a curls with the proper technique.
@@79meh no she has 2c hair
it’s def. 3a hair if you look older videos of her when she had long hair e
omg you look absolutely breathtaking with your new hair! I love it!!💓💓
i really want my hair to look like this man
After seen this im all about leaving my Curls fly. it looks so good
that "Miracle 10" is da best!
Literally went on to say "afro vibe" . Might as well say you feel exotic now.
I love the look on you Sazan! I just hope you use heat protectant to stop heat damage from happening again. 😘
Just stumbled across this video on a day where I was feeling frustrated about My curly Bob. Followed your instructions and this morning it looks amazing! Thank you❤
After watching this video, I'm very tempted to cut my hair in half Sazan
girl...sameeee
I cut mine so happy with short hair
u just gave me inspiration to cut my long hair... I've always wanted a lob look and never knew it would go with my hair texture which seems similar to urs... u look amazing😍😍😍 totally trying this cos I don't like putting heat on my hair, so it's nice to know this natural hair texture works well with the lob/bob.
I just need to know what hair cut to tell my stylist because I LOVE that cut!
NO !!! omg shes applying HEAT to natural curls ...............
Omg thank you! I'm a teenage girl with crazy curly hair. Never know how to work with it. I always either looked like someone put water on my head or a poof ball lol.
girl your hair looks fabulous
Geez! Who has that amount of TIME??
I am obsessed with your hair and you are so pretty!!!
Just gorgeous 😍😍😍
Looking for new hair cuts and this haircut is amazing. Definitely an option
I was wondering around youtube looking for tutorials on styling short hair and came across this vid. not only did i just get my hair cut about the same length as yours but it also looks like we have the same hair texture *hits subscribe button* thanks for uploading this!
i almost cried bless you for making this video
I cut mine short too but I liked it more after I styled it, rather than the hairdresser 😂 love your hair
Just cut my hair this short yesterday so I’m excited to follow your steps
Nelly Furtado
I'm definitely going to this give this a go, basically just got this exact hair cut!
this looks just soo beautiful😍 wow!
I wish I'd had curly hair too.. I'm kinda jealous😘
Our hair is really similar, so glad I've found something that might fit me
Love it!! Going to try this. mine is in layers now and the crown wants to get frizzy. Killing me especially in humid weather. I feel like a Q-Tip.
Great video! I just got a perm and was trying to figure out how to style it. I’ve never used a diffuser so it was helpful to view.
Actually, I'm both a cosmetologist, and have curly hair ...but thanks for the 'splain.
I love your cut hair. The colour is very cool.
She is FLAWLESS
Ur like a prettier version of me with a similar hair texture so this video is really helpful, as I’m trying to decide if I wanna chop again
you make me want to have this haircut so baaaad !
