One thing I think should be considered important is that, as you said, these Clackers here migrated to Western Mudos out of choice, seeking wealth, not because they themselves were driven from their lands. This means that the Clackers have a homeland, probably in central Mudos, that is still inhabited by members of the species that chose not to come. This opens up the possibility that the Clackers remaining back in the homeland have a different attitude than the ones that are moving to settle the West, maybe not drastically different, however, East of the lands Stranger's Wrath takes place is Eastern Mudos, where the Glukkons and Mudokens we're all familiar with reside. And though the two are separated from their separate games, they're probably close to eachother geographically, I think it'd be interesting if the relationship between the Glukkons and Clackers is begrudgingly mutually beneficial, yet deep down they're distrustful or even fearful of the Glukkons, and might actually be actively colonizing and expanding where they can in order to gain an advantage over their economic rivals.
I wonder what caused the Clakkerz Migration? You hit the nail on the head when you said they were a sedentary people, but that means it must have taken something large to force such a race to move en-mass, because you're also right about the state of their towns. They're shanties, they're frontier towns. These people are new to this area, not used to moving around, and did so AFTER the Olden Steef went missing and the river was dammed. Which happened within this generation. So that means in the last twenty to twenty five years at most, something forced a relatively peaceful and harmless people out of their home and into unfamiliar territory. I think there's a story there. A big one.
Fun fact, Clakkerz are the first Khanzumers we see in the Oddworld series, a major part of Oddworld’s lore only shown in strangers wrath. That being said there’s nothing funnier than decking a Clakkerz in the face when they talk smack towards you. They’re also effected by the critter ammo, so on Beaks opple farm you can lead an unfortunate Clakkerz under the car crusher and crush them.
Maybe we'll get a similar game set in the eastern half of the continent someday so we that can explore their societies outside of the factories and native enclaves. It would be cool to see who the Industrialist species are selling their products to aside from eachother and the clackers. There could be entire cities and towns we just never get to see in the other games inhabited by other 'middle class' Khanzumer species.
I figure the other Khanzoomers are them ornery Wulvarks and outrageous Outlaws. Granted Outlaws just take what they want most of the times, but I suspect they dont mess with and even patronize the larger industrialist powers. After all, who would be so bold as to rob a caravan or train belonging to the Maggog Cartel or the crazy Vykkers?
Now that I think about it, Sekto setting up his Dam around Clakker settlements could be a bit of worldbuilding as well. They migrate into new areas, setting up trailer parks and shanty towns, and are somehow able to earn Moolah despite being too weak for labour, too stupid for science, and too cowardly and unpleasant to wheel and deal like a Glukkon. Their migrations into the frontier of Western Mudos could open new business opportunities for the industrialists, like how Sekto was able to set up his Dam or how that solitary Vykker was able to set up a medical practice.
I alwats figured Clakkerz did the bare minimum of labor, such as farming, operaring equipment for mining, fishing, running stores, ect. Yknow, relatively safe ways to earn a living and sustain their frontier economy. I figure Clakkerz outsource acquiring most supplies, likely from Glukkons, Vykkers, and folks like Sekto.
The Clakkers are the only known bird-like creatures in Oddworld except for the birds that help mudokons, I'm almost certain they're just called "birds" which is strange.
The Mudokons are also birds according to the lore, which you can sorta see in the feathers shown in Abe and the Tribal Mudokon's head, as well with their hollow bones in their bodies and also the fact their feet are apparently shaped like those of ground birds. And they also have gizzards apparently.
@@zindrozaan8752I mean...maybe? Because we already saw in the game there are also relatives of other species, like the Slegs are relatives of the Slogs, so it could be possible.
Dude, the clakkers are literally a large part of us world population, they buy and buy and don't ask what's behind the production of what they buy.. They're not even grateful towards Stranger for eliminating all the bandits... Anyway, it's nice to see that you're back making Oddworld videos! I'll go and get the one about Gloktigi too! :D
It depends on the Clakkerz like they’re generally fine with him cleaning up outlaws just as long as it means they can go about their lives, like after you beat Boils booty and leave town you can see some of them set up farms now that the outlaws are gone. Though others like the Black marketer and Skycart Joe are more than willing to work with outlaws to increase their wallets.
Oh, indeed. They're sapient enough to run farms and communities but not above creature comforts and hunting "lesser" tribes for personal gain. However, they're easy prey for stronger Khansumers and other species who aren't above eating them or stealing their property, as we see one "unfortunate" farmer turned into a rotisserie chicken during the events of the game.
I still love smashing into the clakkerz and taking all of their money. Never gets old. I still throw out a quick prayer every now and then that this isn't the last we've seen of stranger. It helps me to sleep at night dreaming of a sequel.
Even though the War Of The Worlds content is cool it’s nice to see more Oddworld Lore videos, I learnt most if not all Oddworld lore from this channel.
Theres a lot dedication and attention to detail that went into this game where most companies woulnt have probably even bothered giving these NPCs more than couple of lines to repeat.
I like that idea imagine The stranger meeting the ghoul (Howard Cooper) both of them are bounty hunters one is a 200 year old relic of the past while the other is the last of his kind just fighting for survival!

@6:26 The Clakkerz being out of time in this regard is actually accurate to the old west. Back in the 1800's and the first half of the 1900's, the US and most of the Americas was a good deal behind Europe in regards to adopting new technologies. Case and point: the self contained cartridge was invented in the 1830's and the first commercial cartridges were available in the 1840's, and the first rim fire and center-fire cartridges popped up in the 1850's, and all of these were readily used by European nations (especially the wealthy ones), but in the states those same innovations weren't brought over until the 1870's and didn't see widespread use until the 1880's. I can see Clakker towns being a good 40-65 years behind Eastern Muddos in this regard.
Never played and odd world game but coming across your lore Vids made me download strangers wrath for ps5 this would've made my childhood if I had it back then.
Considering how they complain about everything, even if someone is diferent but trying to improve their society, I can see them being stuborn about improving their own homes and technology, only maintaing what they have, either cause theyre comfortable with what they have or because they see anything new or better as "strange" wich in turn is seen as "bad". Their pretty much old farmers who are stuborn to learn new ways of living cause they spent so long in their own ways that could be seen as antiquated... an example would be someone still using a horse to help plow land when a tractor would do quicker work, but they refuse to use it cause they dont how to operate nor do they want to learn (wich would include fixing it).
I love how their main reference is a majorly pissed of Eagle. It's honestly perfect considering how they act in game. Part of me does feel bad about their towns being flooded at the end, but, then again, they can get bent for talking all that mess >:[

Hey bro, I’m just wondering like I’ve been watching your videos and I love them so much my favorite video is the walfarks I probably said that wrong, but anyways next are u going to do the steef next?

Clakkerz, in terms of evolution, likely represent the ancestral sort of avian humanoids from which the eusocial Mudokons evolved, much like how the often individualistic wasps of our world gave rise to both eusocial wasps and ultimately bees.
I assume Clakkerz, post flooding, either cobble together newer towns on higher ground (which would require a lot of work) or they bugger off to wherever they came from prior. There's a small chance they revert to a more primitive state and live alongside the Grubbs, buuuut I'm a touch skeptical of that.
A good example but of how just because they don't seem outwardly malicious or evil, appearances can be deceiving. A silent majority, either complicit in horrible actions, or actively benefitting, maybe even encouraging these actions.
