      Thank you, glad they are enjoyable! Most of mine are happy campers, and a few still act like a ‘Prima Donna’, lol!

    Loved this video! Do you grow mostly semi-minis and minis? Gotta get me a leaf of watermelon snow...
    I'm also looking for your most recent recipe for the potting mix you use...
    I thought I saw it on a previously views video, but can't seem to find it now....
    Many thanks for directing me in the right direction.

      Thank you! I grow all sizes, recently started downsizing in favor of minis and semis. Here is the video with the recipe I currently use, except for Diatomaceous Earth, which I now skip: ruclips.net/video/pLLcZOfIo-E/видео.html. It’s in the African Violet Care playlist. Happy growing!

    Beautiful as usual. I used your technique to propagate some of mine and have way too many babies that I don't know what to do with..no local club, friends don't have a good place etc. Any suggestions for sharing, or selling other than ebay? Also sometime could you tell us your favorite semis?? Thank you for teaching us so much!

    • @grayturtleviolets

      Maybe local schools - sometimes teachers use them in the classroom activities. I’ve seen people sell them on Etsy, and own websites. I never have enough semis blooming at the same time to make a separate feature, will see what I can do :)

      @grayturtleviolets have you ever joined any groups on Facebook that swap etc? ... re favorite semis. Maybe next time you do a video of minis and semis. Maybe a comment in the written intro page about which ones are good bloomers . ( I hope that makes sense) thanks!

      @@SS11660 Will do my best! As far as FB sales groups, I joined one for African Violets, and it was later spammed with so much unrelated posts that I had to quit just so I didn’t have to see the spammers’ posts.

      @@grayturtleviolets thanks again for your experience. . Especially about the Facebook groups. I thought I might get a couple of babies if lucky, but ended up 5,+ from each leaf. Many are starting first bloom, it's so exciting!

    This is unrelated to this video, but I was curious to find out your opinion on wick watering Streptocarpus? I’ve seen some people that say it’s fine and others say Streps prefer to dry out between waterings.

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Год назад

      I have a few streps and wick water them the same way as African Violets.

      I will watch for them. I have purchased from you in the past and was very pleased. If I remember correctly , I wanted to gift you a couple of leaves from my blue eyed Russia. If you would like them, I would be happy to mail you a couple when the weather warms up.

      @@maryrogers5307 Thank you so much, very kind of you! I am propagating a variety that looks a bit like Blue Eyed Russia, called EK-Sky Azure, otherwise I'd be totally up for it!

    Thank you for all you have taught me! You mentioned you are using LED shop lights now. Could you put a link to them??!! Also, how far from the crown is the light? I was getting ready to purchase a shelf and barrina lights but I've heard they can be a bit strong. Thank you soooooo much!

    • @grayturtleviolets

      Happy to help! Here is a link to my light setup video, the one that has worked best for me, with product links in the description: ruclips.net/video/axTu2oq2Uy4/видео.html

  • @tylerpoly

    Do you still use the Barrina lights you installed previously? Do you like them or did you switch everything to the regular shop lights?

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Год назад

      Still using them on one plant stand only, shown in this video: ruclips.net/video/I_JJoUuZhO8/видео.html. I keep mostly minis and semis, and some propagation trays, on that one. My other stands are with regular LED shop lights, shown in my setup video, they’ve been working best for me, so far.
