I love you so much Laura! I am praying for your daughters reconciliation. There is a reason God chose the “black sheep” of the family. He does that to display his Glory through you, how much his true presence and Holy Spirit changes a person when they are humble. It may take a while for them to walk through their own testimonies but I know that God providentially saved YOU! Praise him. And do not fear, do not be afraid, for the Lord you God is with you! I would love to be apart of your ministry when both our kids grow up lol God is with you, and he loves you, he knows the burden of your heart for your children, cast it upon him because he loves them even more! I know he has a plan for them. I love you so much Laura, you are such an inspiration and i feel in the spirit every word you say when you realize he was God, we have been born again my sister! Laura, you are right on about reading scripture. I’ve tried that with my dad most recently for years. I just kind of talked about theology in a vague sense before but I’m gonna start trying to quote more scripture in my conversations with him and trying to share Jesus with him too. He’s been in the organization my whole life so atleast 45 years i’m still praying for the veil to be lifted with him and my aunts and cousins

I'm an ex JW and I was born Into it! I can relate to Laura bc my mom is still in there and my dad has never been one but was very abusive to me and my brother until the age of 18! The elders also told my mom to put me out of the house when I was disfellowshiped! I was disfellowshiped 2x's and never been back! My brother (who is looked upon by my mom as gold and I'm the black sheep of the family) he was just reinstated in Germany with his new wife! But I'm happy and at peace and have a deep love for God more than I ever have as a JW!

DH and Laura, thank you for your testimony and the discussion. Whenever I listen to testimonies such as this, I listen for one thing. Did the person realize that there are two journeys ahead. One is the journey out of the lies and bondage. And the second journey is the journey to find the real Christ and the real Gospel that saves. And you found it, Laura… Praise God! Many are just content with their new freedom from the bondage of the organization but that is not enough. It was not enough for me, and it was not enough for you, Laura. I can relate to what you said when walking into a church for the first time. I saw a cross, and a flag. I’ll never forget that. There is a lot of healing and clearing up doctrinal confusion that is needed along with dealing with the hurt of losing family and friends. I left around 35 years ago. My wife did not leave yet and I am waiting on the Lord to open her eyes. It is really spiritual warfare and not just convincing people of different ideas and beliefs. We need to never forget that. And DH, I agree with you that the Church needs to do a better job. Especially during the letter writing campaigns with Covid, there were so many opportunities but many just threw the JW letters away. I began writing letters for the folks at Church and had some good exchanges from that. Actually, Christians don’t need to know all the details of what JWs believe, but just some basic things and they need to just be ready to present and defend the Gospel from the scriptures. @@Michelle-rl3in I start by thanking them for the letter and acknowledge that I have seen them in their ministry. I then would comment a bit on the subject they raised in the letter. I would lead up to a couple of main points. First, that they have a different Jesus than I find in the Bible and point out a few reasons for this. If it was a letter about the memorial, I would write a bit about the fact that they are not obeying Jesus’ command to take and eat, and they are not under the New Covenant. I would include a scripture that speaks to the message of the Gospel that is clearly different than what they teach, about two groups of believers and a restored earth. I would conclude by reminding them that they wrote to me expecting that I might consider their teachings in contrast to whatever beliefs I have about God and the Bible, and I tell them that my aim is no different than theirs in writing back and I hope they will consider it. I would encourage them to read their Bible alone and suggested several books such as Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Acts and John. That is the general approach I took. During Covid, I was getting letters and also encouraging my friends to respond as well. I have not received one in a while. Thanks for your interest.

Laura’s story is a true miracle. How many JW’s come to Christ so quickly once they realize they have been in a cult and have been deceived? From what I know, it seems like most who leave struggle with any form of “religion” and also hold on to many of the lies and brainwashing that they grew up believing. Praise God for this miracle in Laura’s life. This gives me hope for my JW family member who is still deceived.

I don’t worship angels, and since the Bible has many verses that show that Jesus is to be worshipped (because He is God in the flesh), it’s pretty clear that Jesus is NOT Michael the Archangel. My heart goes out to this woman. I hope she knows that as a born-again Christian, part of our persecution is the pain of losing our parents or children to an organization that hates the deity of Christ. That doesn't make it easy to endure the separation, but maybe the reminder will comfort her.
I still live in turmoil due to the facts of this situation I still believe in God I was disfellowship twice it's a long story to tell I went and told certain people but what's going on I went to the elders they told me at that time as I was growing up we don't get into Family Matters business inside the home I told them if they don't and people using the Bible to their Authority but not in the right way they're going to be a lot of people falling out the truth as I believe now I am 59 years old still disfellowshipped not planning to come back to the organization because I seen things I didn't like and seen things that were lied

I really enjoyed this story. It's very sad, that so many JWs won't leave the Organization. It's the convenient of staying in it. They are afraid of being shunned, by their families and friends. It's not easy. It's hard. I knew how hard it was for me, when I first left. Even though I didn't have any family in it. I cant imagine for the ones who do. All we can do. Is pray for them.
I went thru this in a similar way and being attack by a baptize jw aunt i notice when you disfellowship they treat you like you dead and sometimes lied on you and tried get your kids turn on you in same household you provided i was force and coerced and threaten to get baptize at the age of 16 i didn't want to get baptize because of a lots of commotion what's going on in my parents home my mother made me get baptized to impress the elders but she was Raising good kids I am the oldest out of 9 I was told that I have to set example for my other eight siblings when I got baptized and came back home it got worse because my daddy was not a believer so she forced me to tell him I was baptized to make him upset I was used as a image of a example

I commend yous for being awakened, back in 1993 I was introduced to JW's through my husband-to-be at that time, he had studied and fell away, his mother and sister were being baptized at that time, his father was of the world, and so was I, so I came into a divided household, so I was allowed to stay there(and as JW's would say... Fornicating), but anyway as time went on I got manipulated into studying,became a un-baptized witness, loved the Bible, yes my mother in law to be was my study teacher, I use to get bullied by her friends to get married, when I use to go there, when we did get married(controlled solely by JWs) I wasn't allowed any of my own extended family to come, yet we had a JP to conduct our ceremony, wedding and everything was held in our beautiful garden, yet... It felt controlled, I had beautiful people in the JW's I connected with there, and I had the toffee-nosed ones my mother in law invited, but anyway... In short, I had my doubts in this religion,when my mother in law told me... "through you studying, you will save your husband", (and I thought, my husband is in the world, and he can keep living in the world, but I can save him!!!! At that time I was getting indoctrinated into "hating what is bad", and I was.... I was hating my husband, and what he was doing, little realizing he "had woken up back then, he was waiting for me to do that, on my own", and I eventually did in 1997,back then... We didn't own cellphones, but I just became inactive, and I told my mother in law.... "I love my husband so much, I don't want to be baptized, if my husband is going out in this world... I want to be with him! Soooooo I'm glad I have.... My husband and I are still married after 29yrs,and we have discussed alot of these topics, and because we still get updates from mother in law, my husband always argues his mum, we are always getting informed by EX-JWs online, thank yous all, Iknow these channels are for one's that have left, but it resonates everything to me and my husband, who has come from divided household, thank yous very much, Iknow I've just vented about my life, but I studied enough to hear what yous all say is the truth, I'm sighing with relief
Absolutely loved this interview and I relate so much to how when I realized Jesus was God, that’s when the whole Bible clicked into place. I never understood what Christ death even meant for us. Wow. Hello I left the witnesses over 25 years ago,I grew up in a loving family and had a wonderful childhood. But one thing I remember is that my parents never said I love you. I have no doubt that they did because I had very good parents who cared for me but especially my mother she never showed affection like hugs and kisses. My older brother who is also disfellowshiped expressed the same concerns. Has any other ex Jehovah's Witnesses experienced this growing up?
My dad never said it either I don't ever really remember hugging my dad and it was really weird to dance with him at my wedding, so I can definitely relate❤

And my other brother who left the witnesses before I did said to me that he doesn't ever remember my mom kissing or hugging him. And I thought back myself and I said I don't ever remember her kissing or hugging me either. Hey Jenny, your question is about hermeneutics-a technical term for how to interpret the Bible. If you're interested in some great lectures on hermeneutics, go to Biblicaltraining. Robert Stein has a really good series on how to interpret the Bible according to genre. He also wrote a book on the subject: _A Basic Guide to Interpreting the Bible : Playing by the Rules._ (Second. Grand Rapids, Mich.: Baker Academic, 2011). The most important thing to learn is that the Bible is made up of many different genres of literature, and you can't interpret prose the say way you interpret poetry. We know that instinctively in everyday life-when you see a tabloid in the checkout line of the grocery store you know it's fake news, and it is meant for entertainment, not actual news-but many people come to the Bible with this false impression that they are to interpret every book and every passage the same way, and that just isn't true. So it is important to understand how to interpret parables (Craig Blomberg has an amazing book on interpreting parables BTW) vs. interpreting prophecy. JW's completely and utterly fail to properly interpret according to genre-the Faithful and Deseret Slave parable is a case-in-point. Anyways, I'm sure DH will be able to do a great video-he always does-but if you're looking for something that deals with the subject more in depth, I hope you might consider these resources and find them beneficial. They are all nice at the start. As a trained counsellor of 16 years,what you are experiencing is called "love bombing". Please look up this term. All high control groups use this technique. After several weeks of love bombing, they then start to change their attitude towards you. I'm happy to answer any questions on this. 40 years of dealing with the JWs, it's always the same, extremely conditional "love". All current family and friends have to be eventually discarded. Your divergent views will and I promise you this will be a thing of the past. You must conform to their ideas. There are no exceptions. That's the very definition of a high control group. The doctrine of the Trinity states that God is one being, but has 3 co-equal, co-eternal, distinct persons. A person just something that has the attributes of personhood. Another way to look at it, The Father is God who sits outside of space in time, Jesus or the Word is God entering into existence, ( with Jesus becoming man) and the Holy Spirit is God directing, speaking and moving creation, indwelling believers. So Jesus is talking to his Father, and as Paul said he’s taken the role of a servant and acting as any man should. Now John 14:28, you have to consider the context. Jesus isn’t giving a breakdown of his being, he’s saying that heaven and what the Father is, had a greater spiritual role. Almost like a husband is greater than the wife. Creation will always be less than God since God made is, and Jesus the perfect mediator, fully God and fully man, is creator taking on creation. The Father therefore is taking the “greater”.

The Image of God, or the Word of God, Is God represented (John 1:1) and His Image emptied Himself and was made flesh to walk among us (John 1:14) The Spirit is the Power of God personified, fully God. His Spirit resides in us, uniting us with God. (1 Cor 2:10-12). All three are God, and God is all three. He does not exist as one at a time, because that is a heresy known as modalism. We do not see all three as separate beings, because that is a heresy known as tritheism. When we see God, we are seeing the Son that reveals Him. When we feel God, we are feeling His Spirit. And he is Glorified in his infinity in the Father. His Glory, His Image, and His Power are all of the one being of God. But glory, image, and power are only concepts, and God is not a concept He is a person. Not wanting to overwhelm you with all the scriptural evidence that debunks it, I'll offer up a couple of things for you to think about. If this is so, "co-equal", "CO-ETERNAL", and -though he didn't say it- he probably thinks equally powerful, then what is the basis for one being called the Father and one being called the son in the first place? And secondly, if Jesus is God, then everything to do with the kingdom would belong to Jesus anyway, and Jesus should have said 'my' kingdom, or 'our' kingdom at Matthew 6:10, but he didn't. He said "your". Also, all the scriptures to do with the Kingdom that mention Jesus being "granted" things and being "entrusted" and "appointed" would be redundant. Not to mention that the bible says that Jesus will hand the Kingdom back to his Father at 1 Corinthians 15:24&25. Lastly, he told you that Jesus is the perfect mediator because he is "fully God". I hear many similar videos that create ill feelings towards JW's. They point out what they think is wrong but fail to see the good that JW's do. Me? I have no hate towards the JWs but I am not blind to the mistakes that are being made. You are saying “there is no God but me” so that rules out Jesus being a God or a god. But you JWs believe and teach there are 2 Gods. I love you so much Laura! I am praying for your daughters reconciliation. There is a reason God chose the “black sheep” of the family. He does that to display his Glory through you, how much his true presence and Holy Spirit changes a person when they are humble. It may take a while for them to walk through their own testimonies but I know that God providentially saved YOU! Praise him. And do not fear, do not be afraid, for the Lord you God is with you! I would love to be apart of your ministry when both our kids grow up lol God is with you, and he loves you, he knows the burden of your heart for your children, cast it upon him because he loves them even more! I know he has a plan for them. I love you so much Laura, you are such an inspiration and i feel in the spirit every word you say when you realize he was God, we have been born again my sister! He saved us for a reason, for his plan, we hold our head high in faith as walk in it! Laura, you are right on about reading scripture. I’ve tried that with my dad most recently for years. I just kind of talked about theology in a vague sense before but I’m gonna start trying to quote more scripture in my conversations with him and trying to share Jesus with him too. He’s been in the organization my whole life so atleast 45 years i’m still praying for the veil to be lifted with him and my aunts and cousins

I'm an ex JW and I was born Into it! I can relate to Laura bc my mom is still in there and my dad has never been one but was very abusive to me and my brother until the age of 18! The elders also told my mom to put me out of the house when I was disfellowshiped! I was disfellowshiped 2x's and never been back! My brother (who is looked upon by my mom as gold and I'm the black sheep of the family) he was just reinstated in Germany with his new wife! But I'm happy and at peace and have a deep love for God more than I ever have as a JW!
So sorry you had to go through that my parents also put me and my kids out on the street one time when I was disfellowshipped, it's definitely a very conditional type of love from our parents😢

DH and Laura, thank you for your testimony and the discussion. Whenever I listen to testimonies such as this, I listen for one thing. Did the person realize that there are two journeys ahead. One is the journey out of the lies and bondage. And the second journey is the journey to find the real Christ and the real Gospel that saves. And you found it, Laura… Praise God! Many are just content with their new freedom from the bondage of the organization but that is not enough. It was not enough for me, and it was not enough for you, Laura. I can relate to what you said when walking into a church for the first time. I saw a cross, and a flag. I’ll never forget that. There is a lot of healing and clearing up doctrinal confusion that is needed along with dealing with the hurt of losing family and friends. I left around 35 years ago. My wife did not leave yet and I am waiting on the Lord to open her eyes. It is really spiritual warfare and not just convincing people of different ideas and beliefs. We need to never forget that. And DH, I agree with you that the Church needs to do a better job. Especially during the letter writing campaigns with Covid, there were so many opportunities but many just threw the JW letters away. I began writing letters for the folks at Church and had some good exchanges from that. Actually, Christians don’t need to know all the details of what JWs believe, but just some basic things and they need to just be ready to present and defend the Gospel from the scriptures. @@Michelle-rl3in I start by thanking them for the letter and acknowledge that I have seen them in their ministry. I then would comment a bit on the subject they raised in the letter. I would lead up to a couple of main points. First, that they have a different Jesus than I find in the Bible and point out a few reasons for this. If it was a letter about the memorial, I would write a bit about the fact that they are not obeying Jesus’ command to take and eat, and they are not under the New Covenant. I would include a scripture that speaks to the message of the Gospel that is clearly different than what they teach, about two groups of believers and a restored earth. I would conclude by reminding them that they wrote to me expecting that I might consider their teachings in contrast to whatever beliefs I have about God and the Bible, and I tell them that my aim is no different than theirs in writing back and I hope they will consider it. I would encourage them to read their Bible alone and suggested several books such as Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Acts and John. That is the general approach I took. During Covid, I was getting letters and also encouraging my friends to respond as well. I have not received one in a while. Thanks for your interest.

Laura’s story is a true miracle. How many JW’s come to Christ so quickly once they realize they have been in a cult and have been deceived? From what I know, it seems like most who leave struggle with any form of “religion” and also hold on to many of the lies and brainwashing that they grew up believing. Praise God for this miracle in Laura’s life. This gives me hope for my JW family member who is still deceived.

I don’t worship angels, and since the Bible has many verses that show that Jesus is to be worshipped (because He is God in the flesh), it’s pretty clear that Jesus is NOT Michael the Archangel. I still live in turmoil due to the facts of this situation I still believe in God I was disfellowship twice it's a long story to tell I went and told certain people but what's going on I went to the elders they told me at that time as I was growing up we don't get into Family Matters business inside the home I told them if they don't and people using the Bible to their Authority but not in the right way they're going to be a lot of people falling out the truth as I believe now I am 59 years old still disfellowshipped not planning to come back to the organization because I seen things I didn't like and seen things that were lied

I really enjoyed this story. It's very sad, that so many JWs won't leave the Organization. It's the convenient of staying in it. They are afraid of being shunned, by their families and friends. It's not easy. It's hard. I knew how hard it was for me, when I first left. Even though I didn't have any family in it. I cant imagine for the ones who do. All we can do. Is pray for them.

I commend yous for being awakened, back in 1993 I was introduced to JW's through my husband-to-be at that time, he had studied and fell away, his mother and sister were being baptized at that time, his father was of the world, and so was I, so I came into a divided household, so I was allowed to stay there(and as JW's would say... Fornicating), but anyway as time went on I got manipulated into studying,became a un-baptized witness, loved the Bible, yes my mother in law to be was my study teacher, I use to get bullied by her friends to get married, when I use to go there, when we did get married(controlled solely by JWs) I wasn't allowed any of my own extended family to come, yet we had a JP to conduct our ceremony, wedding and everything was held in our beautiful garden, yet... It felt controlled, I had beautiful people in the JW's I connected with there, and I had the toffee-nosed ones my mother in law invited, but anyway... In short, I had my doubts in this religion,when my mother in law told me... "through you studying, you will save your husband", (and I thought, my husband is in the world, and he can keep living in the world, but I can save him!!!! At that time I was getting indoctrinated into "hating what is bad", and I was.... I was hating my husband, and what he was doing, little realizing he "had woken up back then, he was waiting for me to do that, on my own", and I eventually did in 1997,back then... We didn't own cellphones, but I just became inactive, and I told my mother in law.... "I love my husband so much, I don't want to be baptized, if my husband is going out in this world... I want to be with him! Soooooo I'm glad I have.... My husband and I are still married after 29yrs,and we have discussed alot of these topics, and because we still get updates from mother in law, my husband always argues his mum, we are always getting informed by EX-JWs online, thank yous all, Iknow these channels are for one's that have left, but it resonates everything to me and my husband, who has come from divided household, thank yous very much, Iknow I've just vented about my life, but I studied enough to hear what yous all say is the truth, I'm sighing with relief

Hello I left the witnesses over 25 years ago,I grew up in a loving family and had a wonderful childhood.
But one thing I remember is that my parents never said I love you. I have no doubt that they did because I had very good parents who cared for me but especially my mother she never showed affection like hugs and kisses.
My older brother who is also disfellowshiped expressed the same concerns.
Has any other ex Jehovah's Witnesses experienced this growing up?
My dad never said it either I don't ever really remember hugging my dad and it was really weird to dance with him at my wedding, so I can definitely relate❤

History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, not only did they not agree but their list of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. So, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church, guided by the Holy Spirit, that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century, just 75 years AFTER the council of Nicaea which began the Trinitarian doctrine, and then with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved these scriptures by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us, show us, who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?

Hey Jenny, your question is about hermeneutics-a technical term for how to interpret the Bible.
If you're interested in some great lectures on hermeneutics, go to Biblicaltraining. Robert Stein has a really good series on how to interpret the Bible according to genre. He also wrote a book on the subject: _A Basic Guide to Interpreting the Bible : Playing by the Rules._ (Second. Grand Rapids, Mich.: Baker Academic, 2011).
The most important thing to learn is that the Bible is made up of many different genres of literature, and you can't interpret prose the say way you interpret poetry. We know that instinctively in everyday life-when you see a tabloid in the checkout line of the grocery store you know it's fake news, and it is meant for entertainment, not actual news-but many people come to the Bible with this false impression that they are to interpret every book and every passage the same way, and that just isn't true. So it is important to understand how to interpret parables (Craig Blomberg has an amazing book on interpreting parables BTW) vs. interpreting prophecy. JW's completely and utterly fail to properly interpret according to genre-the Faithful and Deseret Slave parable is a case-in-point.
Anyways, I'm sure DH will be able to do a great video-he always does-but if you're looking for something that deals with the subject more in depth, I hope you might consider these resources and find them beneficial.

I have been having visits from some very sweet JWs. They dont mind if i have different views and the prayers are genuine. I am very confused as tgey are super nice and dont mind my divergent views.
They are all nice at the start. As a trained counsellor of 16 years,what you are experiencing is called "love bombing". Please look up this term. All high control groups use this technique.
After several weeks of love bombing, they then start to change their attitude towards you. I'm happy to answer any questions on this. 40 years of dealing with the JWs, it's always the same, extremely conditional "love". All current family and friends have to be eventually discarded. Your divergent views will and I promise you this will be a thing of the past. You must conform to their ideas. There are no exceptions. That's the very definition of a high control group. The doctrine of the Trinity states that God is one being, but has 3 co-equal, co-eternal, distinct persons. A person just something that has the attributes of personhood. Another way to look at it, The Father is God who sits outside of space in time, Jesus or the Word is God entering into existence, ( with Jesus becoming man) and the Holy Spirit is God directing, speaking and moving creation, indwelling believers. So Jesus is talking to his Father, and as Paul said he’s taken the role of a servant and acting as any man should. Now John 14:28, you have to consider the context. Jesus isn’t giving a breakdown of his being, he’s saying that heaven and what the Father is, had a greater spiritual role. Almost like a husband is greater than the wife. Creation will always be less than God since God made is, and Jesus the perfect mediator, fully God and fully man, is creator taking on creation. The Father therefore is taking the “greater”.

The bible actually answers this quite effectively.
The Father is the Glory of God, so infinite in His being that even the gap between Him and anything created is in of itself infinite. (2 Chronicles 2:6)
Jesus is The Word, that is the Logos of God. Logos is image, so when God is revealed, He is revealed in the Son.
Nobody has seen the Father except the Son that reveals Him (John 6:46).
The Image of God, or the Word of God, Is God represented (John 1:1) and His Image emptied Himself and was made flesh to walk among us (John 1:14)
The Spirit is the Power of God personified, fully God. His Spirit resides in us, uniting us with God. (1 Cor 2:10-12).
All three are God, and God is all three.
He does not exist as one at a time, because that is a heresy known as modalism.
We do not see all three as separate beings, because that is a heresy known as tritheism.
When we see God, we are seeing the Son that reveals Him. When we feel God, we are feeling His Spirit. And he is Glorified in his infinity in the Father. His Glory, His Image, and His Power are all of the one being of God.
But glory, image, and power are only concepts, and God is not a concept He is a person.
So instead of using Glory, Image, and Power (impersonal concepts) let’s use the personal titles that the scriptures give Him; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Not wanting to overwhelm you with all the scriptural evidence that debunks it, I'll offer up a couple of things for you to think about. Keep the explanation the channel owner provided you with in mind for a second: " God is one being, but has 3 co-equal, co-eternal, distinct persons." If this is so, "co-equal", "CO-ETERNAL", and -though he didn't say it- he probably thinks equally powerful, then what is the basis for one being called the Father and one being called the son in the first place?
And secondly, if Jesus is God, then everything to do with the kingdom would belong to Jesus anyway, and Jesus should have said 'my' kingdom, or 'our' kingdom at Matthew 6:10, but he didn't. He said "your". Also, all the scriptures to do with the Kingdom that mention Jesus being "granted" things and being "entrusted" and "appointed" would be redundant. Not to mention that the bible says that Jesus will hand the Kingdom back to his Father at 1 Corinthians 15:24&25.
Lastly, he told you that Jesus is the perfect mediator because he is "fully God". I'm sure you know what a mediator is, Darren. How does it work that God is his own mediator in the controversy between God and man? Hope this helps. For the record, I am a JW.

If I see a married couple in front of me and the bible references them as “one”, I only see one. The bible told me so.

You are saying “there is no God but me” so that rules out Jesus being a God or a god. But you JWs believe and teach there are 2 Gods.
When you wake up in the morning and quote that verse saying there is only one God then shortly after that you write “ oh, did I not also tell you I as a JW believe there are 2 gods” that is a flat out contradiction.
