Hi Blake! I’ve recently been getting into competitive YuGiOh with a friend of mine and I play HEROs too. I know this question might be too specific... But what if you knew you played against Despia? Would you maintain your strategy and stick with board breakers or switch to Handtraps? And if so, which ones? Thank you!!
Breakers can work against despia but if they really know what they are doing you have to keep them from getting to "Branded Lost". Ash, imperm on lubellion + droplet can completely cook them. Also depending on how they play (I watch Pak/other pros play this deck a lot) DRNM is actually pretty good against them as well. D.D crow is also another fantastic option. Now notice this is all for going 2nd, if we go 1st dark angel completely cooks them unless they draw a bystial or droplet. They usually also play a higher count list so them drawing these specific answers is a lower %. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching/commenting.
My friend, who I usually play against, plays Despia at times and ever since I absolutely cooked him with Dark Angel, he's sided in a Link-1, making DA not an option anymore unfortunately lol
@@leonardoapollonio6243 Well luckily if he is playing a standard list of branded, if they link summon it turns off branded fusion which is their biggest blowout tool. The rest of the deck is very manageable with our setup.
love the build, what is your generic side patterns for going second? i kind of understand what to side for going first, but i wanted to be sure im siding properly
@@BlakeHERO Thanks, i tried your build at a tourney it performed very well. I made mistakes but that was due to not playing the deck IRL alot, but i see the potential. in terms of deck total, if u had to make the deck 42, what 1 card would you add? Talents. I'm currently testing 1 Talents or 1 extra polymerization. i like the talents more for flexibility.
Deck lockdown just kinda fulfills a completely different role than droplet, deck lockdown is a going 1st floodgate and droplet is a board breaker. It might just take some getting used to because going 2nd is much harder in Yugioh than going 1st. Thank you for watching and commenting!
At the point in which you would chain block flame wingman they have probably already used the ash or they are holding it for something else. Honestly if they ash this it's not the biggest deal in the world, I don't see it coming up very much at all to warrant playing another card you really don't want to draw and I have not missed it at all.
Is there any specific reason we dont run E- Emergency call? I feel like itd be a safe add to the deck since it shouldnt be a brick since it can always draw into stratos or shadowmist. Even just running it at 1 or 2?
It's really not needed as the deck is already super consistent. Prosp/rota/foolish all fill similar roles but they are better because they are more versatile. I hope this helps!
It's better than it was because Snake eyes was the best deck and played a generic link1 and they could just link away the angel. I will add this to the queue for content!
I try to explain certain siding patterns as I talk about the side deck, usually you can take out a winged kuriboh, called by, stratos for going 2nd to add 3 more breakers. Hope this helps!
@@BlakeHERO thanks bro would love a video with more in depth explanation as to why those in specific since I work the liquid soldier in the build still haven't gotten my hands on that Kuriboh
@@juliocalvar3z I can try and work on a siding video! Or adding it at the end of my deck profiles, siding patterns are just very subjective for the matchups you believe you will be going against and sometimes it is hard to show that for a matchup I did not even play for the day
Going 1st DPE/favorite contact solos these decks. Going 2nd solidifying DPE works and stratos pop will really mess them up. Playing against backrow is mostly mastering the correct sequencing of your cards with takes time to learn. Also evenly/duster/lightning storm are good against some spell and trap decks and cosmic is amazing against runick. Hope this helps!
Any chance you can record some live duels in the future? Would love to see you pilot the deck at locals and see how you use some of the non-engine to interact with your opponents field

Absolutely! It is something I am working on but I am definitely less passionate about recording my matches than making other kinds of content as well as these taking a longer time to edit and such. I know a lot of people want to see this so I will work on this!
DRNM lets you keep your BP if they are able to negate it while evenly does not is the main difference. DRNM is good as a 1st or 2nd breaker in the format at the moment with desirae existing while evenly is the best 3rd breaker if that makes sense. Their board can stop 2 but not 3 and evenly clears. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Ive been using liquid soldier and winged kuriboh, the liquid soldier into absolute zero can be good in certain situations its good to just have it in there but I do see your pov of not having it at all.
I just think that they both do not come up in enough hands/games to warrant both if we are really min/maxxing deck building. I'm glad you are able to see the theory behind it and it has been working out for me. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I like the content he makes but some of the stuff he plays I don't agree on. And I don't agree on cutting liquid soilder when he can be a free extra body for like stratos and that draw 2 can sometimes change the game
I have not played liquid for months and don't miss it, I just don't think it makes much sense for this deck list. Drawing is really not that good in the deck if you really do the math on it, and you don't need to normal summon him pretty much ever once you know you don't have it. I have a full discussion coming soon on it!
@@RDRIZZLEAZ1990 there’s def some builds I like liquid in but in this style of build I def don’t think he’s necessary or very good. I think kuriboh is much better in that slot

I can try! I usually mention generic siding patterns as this would be something super subjective for each matchup and hard to do unless I put a picture of what I took out for each matchup I played for the day? Let me know if you think that would work!
This was one of the main reasons for judgment in the side, if I do get evenlyd matchup depending you will use DPE to pop and leave either Dark law/Favorite contact whichever is stronger and have that as your only card left. DPE will activate his eff to come back next SP. You will either have Dark law that trades with a lot of cards to be outed or have FC which will trade with many cards too. You will be playing a bit of a game there and it is not always a guaranteed win, but the guaranteed fact that you live the turn means you can come back turn 3 and deal lethal. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and asking the question!
@BlakeHERO Yeah that makes a lot of sense! Without the dark angel, evenly can be pretty devastating, but the DPE clap back is pretty significant. Thanks for the response!
I have played it before in the side but overlooked it, as well as like every other HERO player. I just recently figured out how broken this card is in HERO until SUDA and now it looks like it is becoming a popular choice! There are plenty of times in yugioh where something is discovered late into a format and completely changes it. Thank you for watching and commenting!
It’s very dependent on the game so it’s super subjective, when I talk about the link monsters I give some tips there! Usually 2nd dark law, dangerous, bagooska, 2nd wake up, cross, infernal are all options. Thank you for watching and asking the question!
Yes mostly because it has the option to be an extender while the other consistency cards besides pot do not have that option. It def is unfortunate when this is the only way to get started and you have to lose out on Dark Law tho. Hope this helps!
I mean like for this deck profile. I don't mind following along with the vid, but it can be a bit cumbersome to not have a list written down to reference.
@@GUITARISTxxxx Ah I see you want the deck list listed out? I could maybe try to put it in the description like old school deck profiles but that makes people not really want to watch the video cause they can just get the list from the description. This wouldn't be a problem to me, but some people would just look at the description and then ask questions about the deck list when I answer most in the video
Last time I played ygo on paper was like in 2017 and I was always wondering what exactly is your game plan if Vyon's poly search is stopped ever since I've been following ygo more again. I feel like that's the deck's BIGGEST bottleneck.
You have a lot of ways to circumvent this weakness, vyon is definitely the bottleneck but the deck is fundamentally flawed compared to other decks in the fact it needs a fusion spell to unlock the extra deck while most meta decks just need to throw as many bodies on the board as possible. Eclipse, mask changes, playing without your normal summon to summon another vyon, fusion destiny, mulitple polys, blazeman are a lot of ways to reduce this bottleneck. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@BlakeHERO I do definitely think Evil HERO might all but almost negate that weakness entirely. They have a gazillion Evil Fusion searchers lmao. Maybe Vyon could show up later in combos or something.
@@Ninja_Bryden It depends on what your build is, I am using the cards as a way to play without normal summoning to then grab faris or just normal summon vyon. It's going to make it so we can play without our normal summon which always leaves the threat of a vyon normal summon, that's why I think 3 will be important post SUDA
@@BlakeHERO Yep. Opening up that bottleneck by allowing us to access fusions outside of just drawing well or being able to activate Vyon is gonna help a ton. Definitely think Evil HERO is gonna be the way to go, and I heard we might be going towards 60 car HERO builds or at least close to that.
@@Ninja_Bryden It will really depend, you can play still a lower count which is what I think I will be doing and basically using the Evil HERO cards without the bricks as a way to play without normal summoning, then if you get stopped you can simply just normal summon vyon and full combo from there. I am very excited about these cards because playing without your normal summon is a attribute a lot of top decks have! There is a reason AHL and FD are our best cards
Faris is our only extender, hands that open Faris are generally way more resilient to interruption than those who don't. I really do not want to decrease the math on that chance. Thank you for watching and asking the question anyway!
It happens! Just have to identify why you lost the games you lost and adapt your play/deck building from there! Hope your next locals goes better! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Mainly due to Droll & Lock Bird being so prevalent in the format. Additionally, ROTA is more flexible since it can get any Warrior monster whereas E Call is Elemental HERO specific. Neos is obtainable through Infernal Devicer while it's best to use Shadow Mist with the DPE/Wake Up combo either in End Phase or if your opponent is going to Nib you since the condition for that effect is when you Special Summon 5 or more times so you can chain onto the tribute part of the effect.
I think this is 41, you can try adding trinity for now and reset poly instead of miracle for turn 3 if you would like, however wake up is getting a QCR reprint next week in the tins and should be quite cheap
I answered this question a few times in the comments but I will just copy and paste my response from there because it pretty much sums it up: "OTKing is not going to happen very much through boards, you have to play DRNM to even have a chance to beat that board, simply put nothing does what DRNM does as it is such a high impact card being that in 9 nonengine you will only open 1-2 most games. @@victorjimenez8044 You def can, but spirit does nothing on it's own without building around him, and honest neos is good in very specific scenarios but they do not come up enough to warrant playing another brick in the deck
I think Dark Ruler isn't good in HEROs. HEROs are best at OTK'ing and Dark Ruler disables that. Our end board, ehile powerful, is rather fragile, so it's much better to push for the OTK than use Dark Ruler and give the opponent another turn.

Gonna have to disagree with this. DRNM is 100% essential in my experience. I main deck 2 myself and have seen success competitively against the meta. Sure you can't OTK, but at the very least you're breaking their board and setting up an unreal board yourself for the follow up OTK
I can assure you competitively speaking HERO is a much better deck and will continue to be as long as it gets support while DDD unfortunately has not gotten support to keep it up to modern standards in a long time. I am a little biased however, I hope this helps!

I have topped case tourneys, OTS Championships as well as regionals in the past. I am trying to change that this year though by planning on going to some YCSs as well as more regionals!
Thanks a lot my guy!!! Really appreciate it
My friend, who I usually play against, plays Despia at times and ever since I absolutely cooked him with Dark Angel, he's sided in a Link-1, making DA not an option anymore unfortunately lol
@@leonardoapollonio6243 Well luckily if he is playing a standard list of branded, if they link summon it turns off branded fusion which is their biggest blowout tool. The rest of the deck is very manageable with our setup.
Wow, that's a detail I had totally missed. Thank you!!
love the build, what is your generic side patterns for going second? i kind of understand what to side for going first, but i wanted to be sure im siding properly
Generally I take out called by, Wklv6, , stratos, for the two thrust + evenly, but it changes depending on the matchup!
I like this build and I know how good droplet is but i just cant seem to have good games when I run it. Ive been running Deck Lockdown instead.
Deck lockdown just kinda fulfills a completely different role than droplet, deck lockdown is a going 1st floodgate and droplet is a board breaker. It might just take some getting used to because going 2nd is much harder in Yugioh than going 1st. Thank you for watching and commenting!
also Liquid Chain blocks Flame Wingman, i think thats the bigest adventage it coul bring to the deck
Also, i need to see the Dark Angel combo, I never ran that card and i want to try but I keep hearing its bad this format.
It's better than it was because Snake eyes was the best deck and played a generic link1 and they could just link away the angel. I will add this to the queue for content!
Great video bro, can you please do some siding patterns that's my main opportunity when playing the deck
Or adding it at the end of my deck profiles, siding patterns are just very subjective for the matchups you believe you will be going against and sometimes it is hard to show that for a matchup I did not even play for the day
Also do you have any advice on play spell or trap heavy decks such as labyrinth, traptrix runic ect as we don’t have much spell and trap negates
@@BlakeHERO thanks mate 👍🏻 really helpful
Any chance you can record some live duels in the future? Would love to see you pilot the deck at locals and see how you use some of the non-engine to interact with your opponents field
Absolutely! It is something I am working on but I am definitely less passionate about recording my matches than making other kinds of content as well as these taking a longer time to edit and such. I know a lot of people want to see this so I will work on this!
Bro congratulations! if I may do you double sleeve your cards to keep your sleeves safe?
I do this to protect my sleeves as well as it protects the cards themselves better. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@BlakeHERO anytime thanks for the response
I would love to see this deck in action in a live duel.
Absolutely! It is something I am working on but I am definitely less passionate about recording my matches than making other kinds of content as well as these taking a longer time to edit and such. I know a lot of people want to see this so I will work on this!
@@BlakeHERO Appreciate it Blake, especially that Winged Kuriboh tech you mentioned I would love to see it it's capabilities.
@@TrueWarrior008 I show it off in my winged kuriboh combo video as well as my next video!
is there a reason why you prefer dark ruler over evenly?
evenly has much better synergies with droplet
DRNM lets you keep your BP if they are able to negate it while evenly does not is the main difference. DRNM is good as a 1st or 2nd breaker in the format at the moment with desirae existing while evenly is the best 3rd breaker if that makes sense. Their board can stop 2 but not 3 and evenly clears. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Ive been using liquid soldier and winged kuriboh, the liquid soldier into absolute zero can be good in certain situations its good to just have it in there but I do see your pov of not having it at all.
Also double mask change has been pretty good for me I'm running a 41 card deck
@@Death_G I like multiple mask changes as well, I actually go into this for a few sentences in this video
@BlakeHERO ill watch it I see for the most part with liquid soilder the plus 2 are always dead cards depends on the build of heros your playing
@@RDRIZZLEAZ1990 there’s def some builds I like liquid in but in this style of build I def don’t think he’s necessary or very good. I think kuriboh is much better in that slot
@BlakeHERO I see that kuriboh makes plays and a pop easy. I like dark ruler but the only thing is they take no damage when your trying to win have you though of board breakers like gekis ,lightning storms and dark hole so 🤔 I use gekis and dark holes to bait my opponents negates the otk just a thought
@@RDRIZZLEAZ1990 Sorry! I did not see this, I answered a similar response here and hopefully this helps: "OTKing is not going to happen very much through boards, you have to play DRNM to even have a chance to beat that board, simply put nothing does what DRNM does as it is such a high impact card being that in 9 nonengine you will only open 1-2 most games. Our board going 2nd with plasma is so good that they most of the time cannot crack it because of the number of resources they use to actually setup that board. As long as decks like Yubel, SE and other decks that setup these crazy boards are around DRNM is absolutely mandatory to even give you a chance. thank you for commenting and bringing it up though, because I see this take a lot!"
Can you explain your siding pattern to us, the choices, as well as the cards you potentially take out of your deck?
I can try! I usually mention generic siding patterns as this would be something super subjective for each matchup and hard to do unless I put a picture of what I took out for each matchup I played for the day? Let me know if you think that would work!
When you dont get dark angel on field, whats typically your play when getting evenlyed?
@@pivotchampion Glad I was able to help!
Can't understand the prosperity why we wait the card to be limited and be like hey i can play thus
I have played it before in the side but overlooked it, as well as like every other HERO player. I just recently figured out how broken this card is in HERO until SUDA and now it looks like it is becoming a popular choice! There are plenty of times in yugioh where something is discovered late into a format and completely changes it. Thank you for watching and commenting!
What do you use to outer sleeve your e hero sleeves ?
I use dragon shield japanese sized oversleeves, I show them off in my rarity collection video if you want to see the packaging

@@LucasGiuliano-y4h No problem friend!
what are you usally banishing with Pot?
It’s very dependent on the game so it’s super subjective, when I talk about the link monsters I give some tips there! Usually 2nd dark law, dangerous, bagooska, 2nd wake up, cross, infernal are all options. Thank you for watching and asking the question!
Is foolish necessary? I find myself wanting to keep shadow mist in deck for the wake up play and to search mask change
Yes mostly because it has the option to be an extender while the other consistency cards besides pot do not have that option. It def is unfortunate when this is the only way to get started and you have to lose out on Dark Law tho. Hope this helps!
@@BlakeHERO thanks Blake, you are the goat
Does Blake link to a spreadsheet or something like that to show main, extra, and side lists for those of us who like to see that kind of thing?
I’m not quite sure what you are referring to, a spreadsheet of other deck lists?
I was cooking something... what about just one faris?...
Faris is our only extender, hands that open Faris are generally way more resilient to interruption than those who don't. I really do not want to decrease the math on that chance. Thank you for watching and asking the question anyway!
I'm a disgrace of a hero, I got 1-4 in the local, losing to fire king and his variations
It happens! Just have to identify why you lost the games you lost and adapt your play/deck building from there! Hope your next locals goes better! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hey bro! Any reason you don’t use E-emergency call ?
Mainly due to Droll & Lock Bird being so prevalent in the format. Additionally, ROTA is more flexible since it can get any Warrior monster whereas E Call is Elemental HERO specific. Neos is obtainable through Infernal Devicer while it's best to use Shadow Mist with the DPE/Wake Up combo either in End Phase or if your opponent is going to Nib you since the condition for that effect is when you Special Summon 5 or more times so you can chain onto the tribute part of the effect.
I actually talk about it here (11:52) and go into detail the benefits of this card over cards like E Call there. Hope this helps!

Sure you can't OTK, but at the very least you're breaking their board and setting up an unreal board yourself for the follow up OTK
cant decide between Hero or DDD :T
I can assure you competitively speaking HERO is a much better deck and will continue to be as long as it gets support while DDD unfortunately has not gotten support to keep it up to modern standards in a long time. I am a little biased however, I hope this helps!
