Custom Nib Studio Medium Cursive Italic Grind on Diplomat Aero

- Drew does a writing test using a Custom Nib Studio cursive italic grind that we've offered on the Diplomat Aero at GouletPens.com. Gena Salorino has years of nib customization experience and we're excited to be able to offer a custom grind of hers new on a pen we're carrying. Rather than having to coordinate the grind with her on your pen and mailing it back and forth with whatever wait would be required, we already coordinated the grinding work with Gena so that you are receiving a new pen with her work already done! This video briefly shows you what her cursive italic grind looks like and how it writes.

Once I snipped the end off a Lamy Safari I found on the street‘s nib. I suspose I’m a bonified nib Meister! And it does write quite well

Just got mine, but haven’t inked it up yet. I’ll let you know what I think of it once I have played with it a little. I love these Diplomat Aero pens. They’re gorgeous and they have excellent steel nibs. I have the silver and blue one, and I do love the nib on that pen, so I hope I won’t regret getting this cursive italic grind. I am optimistic about it, though, and can’t wait to use it.

These ones we already had ground for you, we sent them to her in advance so it’s already good to go! She can grind any nib you want, but that’s something you’d need to coordinate directly with her after you already have the pen. This one we had done and you’d be receiving it without having to do anything extra 😁 -Brian Goulet
drew your video is doing funny things at the beginning thought you should know
$195 is a good price for pen and grind. I love all my italic grinds, cursive, crisp, and left foot oblique. Gena, consider a similar quality pen with a longer barrel for bigger hands. The Zeppelin doesn't always post securely and it's backweighted and a bit heavy when it does. TWSBI VAC 700 (recommended), Visconti Breeze, Opus 88, Taccia.
Does she have an outlet in Australia 🇦🇺?
I wanted to buy this pen. I had a visa gift card to cover most of the cost, planning to put the rest on a regular credit card. Unfortunately Goulet told me they couldn't do that. Ordered the same grind on a twsbi from Nibsmith instead.
So how does it work - I buy the pen from you and order it ground already or do I send to Gina separately? Just want to be lazy that's all, LOL 🤣
It’s even easier...we already sent the pens to Gena and she’s ground the nibs already, so you’re buying the pen brand new from us already ground, it’s good to go as soon as you receive it! That’s part of what we were trying to do, cut out the extra step of having to get it, mail it to her, wait (who knows how long with the way mail is now), and then have her send it back to you. -Brian Goulet
is it just for that pen or did you send other pens as well?
Goulet needs more cursive italic, crisp italic and the like nibs.
We offer as many as we can! It’s just not something a ton of manufacturers do...so when we’re able we offer custom grinds like this. What else would you want to see available if you could? -Brian Goulet

How different is this custom grind from the journaler’s nib on the Esterbrook Estie?
Till today I use my (less expensive) SENATOR thin italic to beat any "custom" grided nib champion. There are good and bad nibs in the market. Find a good one and that is it. No need for a "master grinder", unless a nib is broken or useless
Doesn't look any more crisp than a twsbi stub nib or a pilot vanishing point stub nib
