Oh my gosh, the irony. My 20 month old got a hold of my Triple Tail…and I still haven’t gotten it dialed in quite right. Lo & behold, RUclips throws me this gem. I appreciate you, Doodlebud. With sincere gratitude.

Next time you make an order see about grabbing an extra nib. I did that for a Goulet order for my Ahab

Glad you were brave enough to do this on camera. Watching others make mistakes is not only fun but let’s us learn.the more you show the actual “fixing and adjusting “ part the better. There are a lot of nuances that can be learned from these types of videos but doesn’t seem many people do them. For example : take down of a pen, show pen together, abracadabra it’s all apart but don’t show how it was taken apart. Lol. I could see what you were talking about when put under magnification. Thx for vid. Will check you other vids.

Thanks buddy, yup it's like riding a bike. Falling off teaches you more than anything else. Was thinking of doing a knife sharpening vid too as knowing the basics of how to sharpen a knife is a good thing.

nice vid DB. FYI I found out MUJI alu fountain pens are made by the japanese brand OHTO, makers of really nice mech pencils and some really cool FP's like the OHTO Dude. They run a much smaller operation than the big players like mitsubishi (uni), pilot, sailor, etc. Their nibs remind me quite a lot of the German brand Kaweco.

You inspired me. I repaired my Parker duo fold bent tip.
And to grind my Lamy stub nib to a finer version.
Next… I want to grind my duo fold gold nib from a medium to a fine stub. You’ve inspired a monster! 😂 thanks

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Since I started going down the rabbit hole of the fountain pen world, I’ve been I interested in nib grinding. After seeing your video, I am going to practice on some inexpensive fountain pens I have in my collection that I am not too fond of. Great video. New subscriber.

Glad you liked it. When I have a pen I'm bored with, sometimes I'll see if I can make it more interesting

Here's another great cheap find to fit on other pens. It's my favorite recent purchase. Super cheap #6 architect nib

I did a video on it too:

You inspired me to finally grab one of those cheap Jinhao #6 nibs I had lying around and try this. Did like 3 passes of my coarsest grit and then thought "........ What the hell" and proceeded to grind out an architect nib. It came out surprisingly well and was pretty easy! Not sure I'd be able to repeat it in quite the same way though, but it was really fun. I even got it to write a very nice and smooth fine line on the reverse side.
It just took me time because the only abrasives I had lying around were micromesh pads between 1500 and 12000 grit. Maybe I'll try again soon with another one of my cheap nibs.

Looks like a job well done hope its writing well now. I have played around with a few of my nibs and i have successfully been able to make nibs better and some i have messed up even further. But thats a part of it i guess.

Glad you enjoyed. It can go great or it can go bad, but the process of learning & understanding is very rewarding. Start with a cheap pen of course

Assuming you had used your old, bent MUJI, the nib tips might have smoothed out with writing. When you got the tines back in alignment, the end was already broken in and smooth. Great job on the 'straightening'. I don't have kids so my pens will probably not be dropped. (Fingers crossed). Great video. Shows what can be done. I love my MUJI. Use it for drawing primarily.

Hello I just subscribed. I've been wanting a muji but there was a worry about getting a fake muji so I just didn't get one. What size nib does it have?? I usually write with a M or B when using a specialty grind. Can you please give me the link of exactly where you got it?

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  2 года назад

I bought mine in store. But I think you can buy directly on the Muji website if you're worried about a fake. As far as I know only 1 nib size (fine). But sometimes depending on markets there can be different sizes. Being here in Canada I've only seen the fine nibs in store

How was it bend in the first place?
I have a new muji recently bought, I'm worried I have to be careful and baby it?
As I don't want to be in these hassles, it's my only and 1st FP.
