    I'm a Michigander and I had NO idea the Mackinac Island houses were covered in winter. That would be a sight to watch that being done. Oh Jack, at 8:04, I can hear you saying, "hello friend". I cannot wait to see the progress. Thanks for these lovely, peaceful videos. They make me yearn to be home. Much love! ✌🏻😉💚

    I need to replace a crabapple tree that's affected by blight (despite Prairie Fire "supposedly" being blight resistant). I was thinking of replacing it with a lilac and training it into tree form. It must bloom in May (this is a memorial tree for my sister whose birthday was in that month) and be narrow enough so as not to scratch cars in my driveway. The area is probably 10' wide.
    I underplanted it with a few white anemones I've let self-seed and now it's filled with the beautiful blooms every spring. Stunning!
    I'm in zone 4B, Minneapolis.

    • @JackBarnwellDesign
      @JackBarnwellDesign  4 года назад

      Good idea! See if you can find a “monge” lilac~ it’s a great, dark purple and an easy one to train into tree form -

      Wow! Kind of surreal to get a recommendation from you. I was just rewatching a video of you with Garden Answer Laura touring some of your cottage landscapes.
      That's a very pretty lilac. My sister would approve. Hopefully I can order one for fall delivery or buy local next spring.
      This year is just odd. Lack of inventory at garden centers and slow spring with some hot flashes.

    I bought one of those sunflowers this year. I put it in a pot that should be adequate all summer. I’m going to save some seeds and start a bunch next summer for my deck. They are gorgeous and quite thirsty little devils. It says to water every other day, but when it gets warmer I think they may require a daily drink (at least one). You should add a pink lilac and maybe a magenta or a lavender with white border. They’ll look younger, but eventually spectacular. You should show us the colors. Mine are still blooming. My pink one is at its height with hundreds of flowers while the purple and primrose are just about finished. Do most people on the island have barns and horses etc? Will a copper beech grow on the north shore of Lake Superior as far as a Silver Bay?

    Question: what is the temperature where you are working? I’m a gardener for a living and I’m always curious why the long sleeves, pants, vest? Is this comfortable in the heat or is this to protect the skin from cancer? Or do you wear shorts and short sleeves at anytime? What’s the benefits from all the clothing in summer. I live in zone 6b where we get temperatures up in the 100’s. Would you suggest this type of clothing in those temperatures? Any particular clothing line that you can suggest!? Thanks
